He's gotten better since he was in Boston. Insulated, he will be okay. He can do a lot of Komisarek does for substantially less.

Too bad it can't play hockey. Just when you think the pylons (Brisebois, Souray, Komisarek) are finally gone, we go and sign THIS crap. I'm disgusted, truly.

I'm okay with this signing. He's better than Bouillon in the bottom pairing role, brings a physical element and solid PK and crease-clearing presence that is sorely needed. And for short term and only $2.25M/year he's not impacting our cap situation much.
Still need that forward, however.

Gill is Komi at a realistic price. Gill + Spacek for close to what Komi is going to sign for.

Reaper, and Disp, my thoughts too.
I think he slides into that role okay. Let's not forget we're getting rid of Cube and Dandy. He won't have to log big minutes. He'll kill penalties well, and help Price see more pucks.

I watched Hal Gill all year long in the Burg and he was not too bad.

I watched Hal Gill all year long in the Burg and he was not too bad. Thanks for the insight. I only remember the Boston years, and he was much of anything, really. I guess the cost of Spacek and Gill more than makes up for the loss of Komisarek. I'll take your word, and hope that Martin can make use of his improvement.

TSN knocked his passing. You know what, Komi was a terrible passer most nights. As they said though, Gill is going to be asked to play between the dots. He can do that well.

He is conducting a telephone interview with TSN:
Loves playing in the Bell Centre. He and his family are excited about living in Quebec. Thinks he is joining a great organization.

I'm really sick and tired of Baldy MaGuire's constant Hab bashing. The guy's bitter about something. Did they not validate his parking ticket?

Beat me to Yo. I loved hearing that from him. It's one thing for the player, but when the family is looking forward to the experience I think that's a real positive.

Actually...I heard a story about Baldy not too long ago about how he was a huge Habs fan growing up and over compensates trying to appear unbiased when talking about them.

After watching Gill with the Pens this past season I think he's better than he was. We needed a big body.
Gill with Gorges maybe?

Simprify, do or die!
Hal plays a simple game. He's improved his play since the years in Boston when Montreal skated rings around him repeatedly.

Gill won't be an All Star for us and he won't be counted on to play big minutes but he is what he is, a big body Dman and a stop gap until the young guys take his place. 2 year deal.

This deal makes sense since Komi is a goof and went with the Laffs... Now I hope Lucic/Thornton clobber him. Gill is a stop gap until the prospects on D are ready. If he plays like he did with the Pens, in a limited simple role, then I am a happy camper.

Big and slow. He's 34 years old. A servicable 5-6th. 2.2 is a bit high, but I'm okay with his contract. An older, cheaper version of last years version of Komi. On the other hand, he is not as good as Komi was a couple of years ago and I don't think he will be as good as Komi would be under a more structured system.
At this point, everything is a big whatever.....

Yep I agree, if he keeps it simple and the coaches throw him out there for difined roles he should do quite well. PS: it's Semper Fi short for Semper Fidelis meaning always faithful =D
