That was a very heroic effort considering the penalties.
Bruins clearly the better all-round team....no contest....but Budaj was solid.
A huge 2 points at this time of year!
Now....grab those 2 against Buffalo.

There's something oddly enjoyable about getting outplayed for most stretches of a game and beating the Bruins.

Huge win!
Budaj was a wall. Just a great game.

There were many players who put in a yeoman's effort.....but there were also several forwards who played it safe. No trouble areas....
Hope Weise and Moen aren't out too long.
Budaj now 5-0-0 in Boston.

Plenty of hard work on the penalty kill in the third (strange nhl officiating as often is the case). Budaj was zoned in good tonight.
Hopefully Weise and Moen are not worse than day to day. Which forwards were healthy scratches tonight?

Im still pissed about the lucy cheap shot on emelin. Will the league do anything on that deliberate attempt to injure... fat chance. I hate the nhl.
Also they didn't show that on tsn, if pk did it it would have been the highlight of the night.

given that the mental aspect is a huge part of the game at this level … they did NOT get drastically outplayed … the Habs took their advantages wherever they could create them and it started with Emelin's hit on Lucic leading to Lurch's gross overreaction and from that point; it was game on.
I would have no issue whatsoever going against that group of punks in the 2nd round … or whenever.
Getting the opposition off their (normally successful) game is another way to be on your game. … and down to 10 forwards … gimme a break 'start the car' … (general reference)

Down a couple players and lots of pks they powered on

There's something oddly enjoyable about getting outplayed for most stretches of a game and beating the Bruins. So true. I loved watching this game, even though Boston dominated. Great veteran games by Weaver, Gionta, and Markov. Hope Weaver is ok after that hit from Lucic. Gionta plays surprisingly well in a defensive role. That may be the best style of play for him at this stage of his career. I don't know what this team would do without Plekanec... Vanek was a great pickup, but he must be one of the most passive offensive superstars in the league, if that makes sense. He certainly doesn't attack very much. I hope Pacioretty doesn't pick up that tendency. His speed is elite and should be used.

Lucic tells Bruins' media that he didn't spear Emelin....and that Emelin is a chicken!
Feeding those kinds of lines to the Bruins' fans and media is like giving chum to sharks.

Budaj rested was awesome... he is a top spot guy...granted B's came off the west coast but being down to 10 guys early into the first it was a gutsy effort.....this team despite the coaches bizarre and continuous juggling keeps playing hard.
Hope they can keep the emotions up to get past a weak Buffalo team ....a let down would put a super downer on tonight's effort.
If they could sweep the week they are in... and then can focus the rest of the season on home ice.

Im still pissed about the lucy cheap shot on emelin. Will the league do anything on that deliberate attempt to injure... fat chance. I hate the nhl. Also they didn't show that on tsn, if pk did it it would have been the highlight of the night. Stubbs ticked too. Typical Lucy. From behind, behind the play, spear to the pills. The call on Gallagher was ridiculous. I had the NBC Sports feed on, which was Miller and McGuire. Blowing a lot of sunshine up the asses of the Bruins. Pierre even so far as to say that the reason the Bruins don't get a lot of PPs (they're near the bottom of the league for PP chances) is because they don't dive. Watch the replay Pierre. Really watch it. Gallagher gets ALL stick. When Kate Beirness, using her TSN twitter feed, is calling that out, you know the Habs got hosed on that one. The late goal by Bergeron is a nice tip, but it's on Plekanec. No, he wasn't on the ice at the time the goal was scored. Before his shift ended he had a chance to dump the puck down with about 30 to go in the penalty. He tried to rush the puck up ice and had his pocket picked. I don't believe the Habs got in a full change. So, some tired guys were out there for a while. I don't know what TSN/RDS had for a hit count, but NBC had something like 30-10 favoring the Bruins in the third. I'd say they under cut the Habs on that. Bruins full marks for 30 hits, but the Habs had a lot more than ten. Emelin with the huge one that set the tone, and Weaver with a big one at the blue line too. Bourque actually hit someone hard on the fore check, and Murray had some good hits. I hope Moen and Weise will be okay. Weise watched the game from the locker room. No word on Moen. Two knockdowns for Miller and one for Moen in that fight. Travis was definitely wobbling leaving the ice. Here's hoping he recovers from that concussion. Miller's hit from behind on Weise was a dangerous play, and warrants a review, but of course this is Jeremy Jacobs' NHL. PP sucks. This rush up the middle by Subban only to drop it 20 feet to the trailing Bouillon is ridiculous. Gallant needs to simplify, not complicate things. Get the puck in, Subban can do that. Get pucks to the net. I'd actually like to see Emelin get some more PP time. He's shown an ability to get pucks to the net. Not hard shots, but tippable ones. Get it to the net. That's all that matters. Full marks for the effort. Habs came out hitting though - to which McGuire said of course you don't wanna do that. How dare Emelin hit Lucic? Milbury said that the hip check should be banned. It wasn't pretty, and they weathered a lot. Budaj was very sharp right through the shoot out. Bruins fumbled some prime scoring chances too.

Of course, not every playoff game against them would go like that....but Boston is a real force. We DO get under their skin, for sure.

entertaining though heart-stopping game.
must have been bad ice -- or the Forum Ghosts traveled to Beantown because the puck didn't settle for them when they had great chances.
btw, CH, Lucy is right -- he didn't touch Emelin -- but his stick sure did! blatant attempt to injure.

No kidding. How stupid do these Bruins think we are? We being fans of the NHL. It's fairly insulting considering there is video evidence that's incriminating. "Hockey play gone wrong." "I didn't even know it was Emelin."

Bah ... Boy chuck tried to hip check Subban at the knees ....that was a blatant attempt to injure too, and to further prove it, he swings with a gloved fist as Subban ducks
TSN hockey tonight just showed the Lucic replay ... He did spear him in the nads, but not sure how hard
