Lucic claiming Emelin went for the knees .... Yeah right, Lucic just sooky he got caught and decked.
Speaking of chicken-poop .... How brave ya got to be to spear a guy in the nads from behind?

Remember when Lucic ran over Miller? Ryan wasn't too happy... (WARNING: language)

I didn't like he fact that Boston dominated that game at even strength. It was awful. I saw lots of missed and hurried passes, which is I guess what Boston does. They pressure you into making bad plays, but there were lots of instances where we would turn pucks over in the neutral zone and the B's would come right back. Their puck management and puck pressure is excellent. I can see why they've been hot.
Great to see Emelin deliver the big hit ang get under Lucic's skin.
WTF is Doug Murray doing on the ice in the last minute of regulation. The guy simply can't skate. I'm baffled that Therrien sends him out there over Tinordi. This would have been a great game to get Tinordi involved.
A great win, though.

Lucic tells Bruins' media that he didn't spear Emelin....and that Emelin is a chicken! Feeding those kinds of lines to the Bruins' fans and media is like giving chum to sharks. Well, the replay would suggest something else. It's the same video the Bruins media, fans and players as we see as well. So, we can probably assume that Lucic knows what he's saying and what he's doing. He do what he has to get under Emelin's skin. That said, I've seen Chris Nilan do it to Charlie Simmer only Simmer never went down ... and Nilan wasn't caught. So, if that's their game, that's their game. If it means their media and fan base buying into it, then we know where the BS is piled highest. Bring it! The more BS the better ... karma can be a bitch sometimes. Saw the last 14 minutes of the game and it was dominated by Boston. I thought the penalties would've killed us and they almost did. Gallagher made a great play on that breakaway. However, if that's the standard for calling penalties on plays like that, then screw defence. That entire fourth line is now out of action; Prust, Weise and Moen. If Moen has a concussion I think he might be done for the year. That was/is the kind of energy line our club needs. Prust, Weise and Bournival would also work well, in my opinion, anyway. Why does this fan rivalry remind me of a public schoolyard drama? I guess that's where the Boston media is the most comfortable. Cheers.

Lucic should be suspended! If spearing from behind into the genitals is not suspendable than the sport is a joke. How does Lucic look at himself in the mirror. And how do his teammates support him. By the way, PK Stock calls it a "love tap". Once a classless Bruin (i know it's redundant) always a classless Bruin
The Bs played their game. Legal crunching hit by Hab followed by cheap shot to head of Hab. 2 minute penalty - big deal! Repeat. Repeat.
Another Bruin's ambush. Game meant nothing to them in the standings so they took their liberties. Within minutes we have 2 injured players. The Boychuk hit on PK was extremely dangerous the way he was throwing his knees and skates around. No wonder PK was pissed. The Bruins haven't forgotten that taking an opponent out for the season can pay big dividends - Chara put Max out and they won the Cup after we took them to 7 games with each of the 4 losses by one goal, 3 in OT. You telling me Max couldn't have changed that series outcome. I'm sure Boychuk would have felt horrible if PK was injured long term.

As for Habs - they played awful scared. Not impressed. Expect it from Briere but Max and Vanek were embarrassing. Max should not be wearing the 'A' if he wants to shy away from these games. I thought the talk was that Vanek is a Bruin killer. Didn't see that tonight. He was dressed right?
Budaj and Markov were great. So was Emelin. Weaver played well. Pleks and gionta were great on the PK.
I think the penalties against helped us. We were being dominated 5 on 5. When we're down by one the bs are not as physical and we're able to ice the puck and let the clock tick.
Nice goal by Galch. Looked like a skilled hockey player and loved the celebration. Need more of that kind of attitude

Lucic is too dumb to just say nice hit he got me that time. But he is not the only one in the league with ignorance driving much of what they do and nearly all what they say.
And for his career he certainly lives by a double standard regarding physical play and fighting. His code is that physical non-fighter guys like Emelin and Subban should drop with him if they deliver big hit and he will whine publicly about their lack of valor if they don't, but he wants everyone to respect "roles" and "weight classes" when the real monsters ask him to dance (recall the comedy with Laraque in 2009?) and it would be out of bound for those guys to whine publicly about him.
Good power forward, big baby.

I marvel at how Budaj consistently thwarts the Bruins. He did it this time when the Bruins seemed almost unbeatable to the other NHL teams they faced.

We were also missing Markov and Gorges in that series, and it still took them 7 games to beat us. One could argue we were the better fully suited team. That Bruins team had a lot of luck in their run to the Cup, as well as some serious goonism (Boychuk breaking Raymond's spine. If something horrible happened to Boychuck, I'd open one of my best bottles of wine. The guy is a serious jackass.)

Had to check out the reaction on the Bruins board over at HF. They're really complaining about the officiating. Very pro Montreal. Thought you should know.
I didn't go much further than six pages. It was like reading Twitter. A lot of one-line comments made to pad post totals (just an opinion).
I'm not worrying about the Boston approach. The organization and their media are both on the same page. #whatever
Cheers.

The whole line got only 5 shots on net, and that included some quality PP time. Only 2 hits between the 3 players....and Vanek had both of them. (I thought the majority of our guys played very tough tonight, and didn't back down.) If your #1 is going to be timid against teams like the Bruins....then we're in trouble. I understand the problem....DD is very small; Vanek has never been a rough, digger-type; Max may still feel very uneasy when Chara's on the ice....and who could blame him? I wonder what his stats are vs. the Bruins post-broken neck.

Good power forward, big baby. He wasn't very good tonight. He has always shown himself to be the very definition of a bully. Pick on guys under your weight class and hit people in vulnerable positions. But that's been a Bruins culture since Cam Neely went into management and perhaps even before then, but its been expanded since. Neely was never a bully himself, but funny how that culture has permeated the Bruins after he came on board. Course, it's been there since the Ted Green days, so it goes back a long ways and when people stand up to them, they fold like a bad poker hand. Chara? You simply ignore him. You go after his stick where he's not as good and you persist. Gallagher has driven him nuts. Bergeron is one of the few class players on that team. And who's the only one who scored? Bergeron. Great player. Lucic and Chara are big sissies, Iginla is over the hill, Krejci can be intimidated by the likes of Markov and Marchand is the ultimate punk. WE seem to be able to bring out the worst in them. As I've said, they've had all the stars aligning for them in the last few weeks, but once the playoffs start and everyone ups their game a bit, lets see what happens. I still think their goaltending is a weakness when the pressure is on and I think their defense can be exploited. They do not have that Crosby, Malkin or Kane who can break down people one on one. If you defend well, they have trouble scoring. Yes, despite all the stats, I don't see great scorers in their prime on that team. Without Seidenberg, their defense is worse than sketchy. Boychuk?, Bartkowski? Krug? Kevan Millar? (he's 26 years old! What rookie potential.) That's a pathetic defense. It's only a matter of time before others expose it too. It's been held up by forwards backchecking their butts off. That's hard on the forward group, though and can wear them out if they have to do too much of it. I'm proud of most of the guys tonight. Weaver really made his mark on the team and I bet everyone invites him to their place for dinner the next 2 weeks. Patches and Vanek weren't at their best, though I thought DD was ok himself. Better than usual defensively and not bad in the Bruisn zone. While Murray was still causing heart palpitations at times, he at least thumped a few guys and disrupted the flow of the Bruins game before losing the puck to them. What can I say, he still can't pass worth a damn. Weaver made some great plays to keep that duo in line. Is he ever an underrated player. I thought Galchenyuk put forth a ton of effort tonight. While the production wasn't there, he worked harder than I've ever seen him, especially in our zone and even went down to block a shot (which wasn't taken, thank god). Then he gets the opportunity to be in the shootout and leaves Rasks jock strap somewhere in row 98. So much fun. That's gotta be great for his confidence. He helped beat the Bruins at a critical time. Yes. There's something natural about a Habs win over Boston. Kinda like the sun coming up each morning, regular as clockwork. It just makes sense and maintains order to the universe.

I wonder what his stats are vs. the Bruins post-broken neck. I've actually admired Max in his games against the Bruins since his injury but maybe those have been games in Mtl. But tonight he wanted no part of anything in black and yellow. Don't know if Vanek was surprised by the intensity of the rivalry but i always thought Bruins/sabres games were pretty intense too. In any event neither showed up tonight. I agree with you that many of the others did not back down - and they are much smaller. That will not last long term. If the 2 biggest forwards don't want to get physical then we're in trouble. It's a whole different match up with Prust/Weise/Moen. Let's hope they're back for the playoffs but they will be fragile so we're back to being a small team.

Not that one should try to understand the thought process of a neanderthal like Lucic but i don't understand the logic of calling a guy a "chicken" yet it's ok to spear someone from behind in the scrotum. And his teammate Chara also hits a player from behind and then when the player falls Chara cross checks him in the back of the head while he's on his knees. All that to be followed by Lucic skating by and spearing the fallen player in the gut. I've got a lot of choice words to describe that conduct and "chicken" would be one of the kinder ones.

It was a big game for all the plumbers on the team and Murray and Weaver were excellent. After losing Moen and Weise guys like Gio and Pleckanc played a huge defensive game. Boston may have dominated the play but all the Habs did a great job keeping them to the outside mostly and breaking up a lot of plays.
Does MB and MT get some credit for having guys with heart and character willing to take the dirty stuff but keep to the gameplan?

I might have to agree. don't know what MT was thinking with some of his decisions but it worked. now . . . get this team to practice clearing the zone! it was an adventure almost every time.

I don't know if Cam is responsible for the goon trend. If I had to say one event was the turn, it would be Cooke ending Savard's career. I think they shifted culturally at that point. It became "eye for an eye" time, and eventually led to preemptive attacks. "We're gonna attack you before you have the chance to do the same to us." That mentality boils down to fear. Lucy isn't brave. He's a chicken $hit you know what. When's the last time he legitimately got in someone's face who was his size? Komisarek?
"Love tap", or not, ANY shot to the genitals hurts. Any. He knew exactly what he was doing. Hell, a hard enough shot to the tail bone/rectum area will do damage. That's a sensitive area too (and not overly well protected).
I suspect we'll see a 4th line of White-Bournival-Parros tonight.

We were definitely outplayed, but that just seems to p*ss the Bruins off even more. I can live with that. For all their "toughness" I find them to be a little weak mentally. They have a supremely talented and deep team that has won a Cup and should be considered favorites to come out of the East... but they've also managed to have some epic collapses over the years and they seem to go into freak-out mode when things get tough for them. Still not a team I want to see in the playoffs mind you.
Some Random Thoughts:
* Three out of the four penalties called in the third period were extremely weak. The only legitimate one was Bouillon's, which they scored on.
* I don't know if Moen is coming back this year.
* Mike Weaver.. wow! I resign this guy today. He's a right-handed Josh Gorges, only stronger and much, much cheaper. Again, took a big hit to make a play, and was very active standing players up at the blueline. And he levelled Dan Paille.
* Budaj... what can you say? He owns the Bruins. What's up with that. He looked so, so calm back there, especially in the shootout, where he just calmly cleaned his crease after every stop. Rask... well, see above with that "mentally tough" comment.
* Best game Emelin has played in a long, long time.
* For those saying "it was just a tap" - I guess they all don't have a pair. Every man knows that it doesn't have to be a hard shot to hurt. Heck, some of the worst ones I've ever taken were the accidental ones, the light flicks that drop you like a rock. Don't know why that is, but we all know it's true. And to come at him from behind, when the cup is designed to protect from the front... Well, cheap shot for sure. But this is the NHL, so at the absolute worst Lucic will get a $5000 fine.
* I hate the Bruins. Really hate them.
* I agree with BLNY when he says that Plekanec cost us that goal. He tried to get too cute when all he had to do was dump it down the ice, which would have killed off the rest of the penalty. He played an otherwise great game, but hockey is a game of mistakes, and that one cost us.
* Vanek is a floater. But he's a dangerous floater. He'll drift around, both offensively and defensively, and then all of sudden he's in the slot with a quick shot off the post or something.
That's it. Always feels good to beat the Bruins, because you know they take it super-personally. Betcha most of them didn't sleep last night!

I wouldn't have too much issue with Weaver being the 7th man (replacing Cube). Going forward with Gorges-Subban, Markov-Emelin, Tinordi/Beaulieu-Weaver could work. I'd still like to get Emelin back to the left side all the time, but I don't see that happening unless either he or Gorges gets traded. Vanek has some Kovalev tendancies. I thought his line had a tendency to over complicate things last night. Just get pucks to the net. The Bruins definitely can get away from the game plan if you egg them. It's a shame our PP couldn't take advantage of the early run of calls. That would have incensed them only more.
