Ugly game....made more ugly by Murray's elbow to Kostka's head.
But at least he'll be suspended and MT can't play him.
Murray should get 10 games. That was deliberate.
He'll miss the first 5 games of Round 1 (if Shanny gives him 10)...and maybe MT will see that Tinordi is the better choice.
Now, if he'll just sit Bouillon instead of Weaver when Gorges returns.

Yup. Sabres beat the Devils in a shootout before this game was done.
Really sloppy puck movement tonight, and brutal turnovers. Some of the penalties were jokes, but I don't know what Murray thought he was doing on his play. Maybe if he says it was a hockey play gone wrong he won't be suspended.

What a disgusting exhibition! I tuned in too late to see Gallagher's goal, so I got no pleasure out of anything for the rest of the game. It should have been 4-1, so the Habs can't complain about the officiating.

Power play is killing us. It's ridiculous.

I didn't watch it. Glad I didn't. I heard the team is staying in florida until thursday... they will get spanked by the Sens if they play like what I read in the GDT.

Can't complain too much about an 8-2-0 run....but I'd be concerned with bad habits creeping in.

I've said it often enough this year, but it merits repeating yet again ... The Habs are the worst team on odd-man rushes in the league. A TWO on ONE from the red line and there isn't a pass?? Are you freaking kidding me?? Even a pee-wee can tell you the deeper you go, the only play you give yourself is a top shelf shot. Pass the damn puck before the blue-line, force the d-man to change his angle. The return pass is there before the dot for an empty net most times ....

I watched the middle half and found it severely lacking. A first round preview and they come out flat.
What do they need to motivate themselves?
Onwards.

Based on their play tonight looks like they're really enjoying their Spring Break - too many Buds and wet t-shirt contests. OTHER THAN CAREY who continues to play great!

That made me laugh. Murray getting suspended would be the best thing that could happen to us. Also agree on the pairings Markov, Emelin Gorges, Subban Tinordi, Weaver Those are the best 6.

Why do we have to wait until we're behind to see PK strut his stuff?
Other than Carey, did anyone play well tonight? Did Briere play?
Vanek - way too fancy, and a bit of a puck hog - not his job!
Murray was awful. Does Tinordi send a video of the elbow to the league or should we do it for him?
Lighting are fast and work hard. Perhaps they'll be over confident for the series. But if we play like we did tonight, we ain't going past 6 games even with Carey standing on his head.

Well, either they are setting the Bolts up for the playoffs, or they just can't get up for an important game unless their opponent (Boston) self destructs. Didn't watch the game, but it sounds like the compete level wasn't there. And since they know they're playing Tampa, there's not a lot of incentive left. Might have been nice to send a message, though.
Now...is there anyway we can get Booboo suspended too?

Murray won't get more than 5. Phone hearing today. He'll probably get three. Worth noting though, I saw no one going after him afterwards. Even Galchenyuk went after Garba when he hit Eller last year.

Too many turnovers, especially at the blueline on the powerplay. They need to work on better ways to enter the zone.

Like I stated above I did not watch the game, but on TSN690 they said PK played less than 18 minutes. According to the game recap on nhl.com, Murray, Markov, Emelin & Weaver all played more minutes. BooBoo played less. MT still doesn't understand that PK needs big minutes to be in the game.
I'm concerned that we have heard nothing about PKs contract negotiations... nothing nada.

Friedman's last 30 Thoughts column said that Subban wanted to wait until the season is over. That's just great. He'll get some big offer sheet that the team will be forced to match. As for Murray - just a dumb, dumb play. No need for it & it gave them absolutely no chance to tie the game. And why was Weaver doing the fighting after that hit?? You don't have to look at advanced stats to now see how bad Boullion & Murray are this year - just a glance at the plus/minus will tell you. Why they continue to be in the lineup when there are better options baffles me.

Why they continue to be in the lineup when there are better options baffles me. I have a bad feeling PK will not be here next year. Why should he? He is treated like a second class citizen, when guys with less ability, less desire and less talent get more ice time. That is all on MT. If MT is still coach, it wouldn't surprise me that MB decides to not match the offer sheet and takes the picks. Now If the other team offers less than 8.4 per year, then they only have to give up 2 firsts, a second and a third.

Hopefully it is a false message. This game was basically meaningless. Playoffs is where the work really starts and the guys will probably play much better. At least not have as many turnovers in the slot.

Murray has no disciplinary record.
So, yep...a phone hearing means 5 is likely the max.
And he'll be back playing huge minutes in the playoffs.
===============================
Our coach is an excellent example of "show me a good goalie"....even against Boston...it's been Budaj. We were outshot 20-6 at even-strength in our last game against them.
And just when you thought he was off Subban's back....
No defenseman played less minutes at even-strength last night than PK: 10:58.
A playoff match-up....and our #1 defenseman plays the least.
Gallagher and Galchenyuk also with low minutes...around 11:00 each.
Yes, 9 penalties doesn't help....but still.....
I think our biggest liability is MT. He's going to be out-coached by Cooper, as he was last night, and as he was against MacLean last year.
Cooper plays the hot hands without maligning his stars....he knows how to manage a bench. Yes, Bishop has helped.....but they had Stamkos go down....the whole Marty St. Louis sideshow....and yet, they get the job done.

Nice to have a break....and they HAVE just gone 8-2-0.....but bad habits are creeping back...and that includes the coach.

I don't care about their record... I'm tired of talking about MThead. I will be watching fewer and fewer games as long as he is head coach... Love the team, love the crest but I can no longer tolerate a mediocre coach who, imo, cannot manage his bench, lacks the ability to make the correct player personnel decision, is unable or unwilling to make in game adjustments and is, to me anyways, very stubborn and unyielding after he has made a decision. The "I'm the Boss" attitude has worn off for me and, I believe, most of the players who appear to be playing for each other and pride. Unfortunately, MThead is the beneficiary.
There is no way this team becomes a cup contender with MT at the helm.

From what my friend tell me, most players are scared of Murray...I guess the guy is a beast. He tries to fight but know one is willing, apparently he is crazy strong.

I guess the nickname Crankshaft is appropriate. In a limited role as a 7 or 8th Dman, he fills a need. He plays when you are playing goonish teams like the B's, Flyers, Sens etc.

Friedman's last 30 Thoughts column said that Subban wanted to wait until the season is over. That's just great. He'll get some big offer sheet that the team will be forced to match. I had to look this up, but here are the rules tendering an offer sheet: An offer sheet is a contract negotiated between an NHL team and a restricted free agent on another team.
The offer sheet includes all the terms of a standard player contract, including length, salary, bonuses, etc.
A player who has signed a qualifying offer or is going to salary arbitration with his original team cannot sign an offer sheet. I think all Bergevin has to do is make an qualifying offer and he eliminates any offer sheets. Cheers.

I'm not worried. I don't think we have the club to go all the way this year, but other than last night they really haven't played all that badly of late. A resort, eh? I'm actually hoping they fly in players who didn't make this road trip. Bring them in from Montreal and let them do some rehab in Florida. Why not, eh? Heck, I'd be all over it. The timing is right. Back to TB. If we do play them in the first round I think it will be a goaltender's series. Bishop vs Price. I like seeing Price make his case for the league's best goaltender. Bishop has been near the top in most goaltender categories for most of the season and is a big reason for Tampa's success this year. The two teams just aren't close in goaltending, though. If one goaltender goes down, the other team becomes the favourite. If both go down it's still an even series and things get real interesting. Looking forward to it. Cheers.

So I guess this means if MB makes a QO and PK does not sign it or PK does not agree to go to salary arbitration, then the door is still wide open for an offer sheet? Offer sheets can be made the day after the draft.
