The Canadiens held an optional morning skate in Ottawa as they prepared to face the Senators Friday night (7 p.m., CBC, RDS, TSN Radio 690).
Peter Budaj, who will start in goal, was on the ice along with Carey Price and they were joined by defenceman Josh Gorges. It marked the first time Gorges has skated with his teammates since being sidelined with a broken hand in early March.
Nathan Beaulieu, who was called up from the Hamilton Bulldogs, also took part in the skate but will be a healthy scratch. Jarred Tinordi, who also took part in the skate, will take the place of Douglas Murray, who will serve the first game of his three-game suspension.
Coach Michel Therrien said he plans to use Beaulieu at some point.
“The goal is to make sure he’s ready,” Therrien told reporters in Ottawa. “For sure we’ll get him into a game, but I can’t tell you right now exactly when that will be. We’ll make sure that when he does play, he’s ready. If we think he’s ready to help us from now until the end of the season or into the playoffs, that’s when we’ll put him in the lineup.”
Others taking part in the skate were George Parros, Lars Eller, Andrei Markov, Brian Gionta, Michael Bournival, Mike Weaver, Brendan Gallagher, Tomas Plekanec, Douglas Murray, Daniel Briere, Rene Bourque, Ryan White, Alexei Emelin and Alex Galchenyuk.
Here’s how the Habs lines and defence pairings are expected to look against the Senators:
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Vanek Galchenyuk-Plekanec-Gallagher Eller-Briere-Gionta Bourque-White-Bournival
Markov-Emelin Bouillon-Subban Tinordi-Weaver
========================================================================== Let's not kid ourselves...the only reason Tinordi is playing is because Murray is suspended. And he'll be sitting as soon as Murray comes back (sigh). Beaulieu called up....but scratched. BooBoo still being ridden as if he's in his prime (ay-yi-double sigh). I fully expect the Sens to be looking for a pound of flesh for that record-setting collapse in Montreal. Could be a very interesting game....especially if we get up by a few goals early. In that sense, I'm glad Budaj is playing.

If the boys looked bad against TB, we ain't seen nothing yet. I expect rust and sloppiness after the extended spring break. May be good in the long term but will be ugly tonight, especially against an ornery Sens team. Very glad Carey is not playing. Neil will no doubt be looking to stir some crap as he'll be playing golf ("FORE") in a week.
good to see tinordi dressed whatever the reason!

CBC saying Tinordi is paired with PK, not Weaver as I expected. That means that Tinordi is going to get more ice time than usual, or PK is going to get a lot less ice time than usual. Which shall it be? Stay tuned?
Yeah, I realize MT may not want two inexperienced dmen in the line-up, but the consequences of that are yet one more game for Cube to wear him out. He's had 3 days rest so he should be ok today, but if he plays again tomorrow (practically guaranteed) expect Booboo to live up to his nickname.

Habsord...hoping not but that usually is the trend...hate to see a extended slump going into the post season.
Glad to see Tinordi/Subban back together give me Beaulieu/Gorges Emelin/Markov in the playoffs I will be a happy camper Weaver/Murray as spares.....rather lose with the kids gaining experience than players who are not going to be here...why delay the process?
Hoping the Sens don't goon it up fear injuries if it turns ugly...especially since we have nobody aside from Tinordi to stick up for anybody. Still think home ice is important....no pressure but would be nice to go in on a real role.

Habs wearing their red home unis. Cool. And we get an immediate penalty. Pleks to save a possible goal.

Eller is so off his game....Karlsson goes deep on the PP...gets caught....and Eller leads a 3-man rush....but hangs onto it way too long, goes behind the net, tries to pass it back to the neutral zone and loses it.
Wasted some time, yes....but how about looking for a play?
And now it's 1-0.
5-hole on Budaj. Subban was pretty light on covering Smith.

cube = -1. So are PK the DD line. So much for Tinordi playing with PK. PK has to put up with Booboo.

Another 5-hole on Budaj.
Maybe Subban deflected it?
Boys are still on the beach.
I may be turning this one off soon.

First one, yes....weak. Second one...perhaps deflected by Subban right in front of him. If not....very bad goal. Third one, no chance. Now Markov surprises Anderson with a bad angle goal. From behind the goal line. 3-1.

Poor keeping by Anderson and we get a cheap one back. Nice vision by Galchy to see Markov moving deep.

Just saw a graphic on RDS.
Every dman except Murray had more ES ice-time than Subban on the road trip. Ha!

The game started to swing in our favour after a big Tinordi hit and a strong shift by Chucky and Gal that led to Markov's goal. I'm not saying the kids need to lead this team, but they need to be allowed to contribute. Will MT realize? Doubt it.

Well, he was pretty weak on the first goal by Smith....and perhaps tipped in the second one. But he's not the only one making mistakes out there. Wow...

What a feathery lead pass by Vanek to Max who puts it 5-hole on Anderson.
3-3.
Great timing/touch from Vanek.
