CBC just changed this weekends national game to Montreal vs Rangers, looks like they are jumping on the bandwagon. except we'll get the "original" game. what a juggernaut game this will be!

How often will CBC show and talk about Yzerman....and what a great job he's done with the Bolts? After all, he's the architect of Team Canada's gold medals in 2010 and 2014.
Team Canada (and Toronto's Stamkos) will trump Canada's ONLY representative. Wouldn't happen against any other team but Montreal. Bank on it.

The ratings will be high. Teams from six other Canadian cities were unable to qualify for the playoffs, so media attention will focus on Montréal. If diehard fans from Ontario tune in only to root against the Habs, too bad for them that their teams will disband for the summer to indulge in less strenuous sports.

Here's CBC's expected "nationalist" twist to maintain viewers (as I suggested would happen in my initial post of the thread).... Pre-Habs/Rangers game...... Right after saying that the Bolts-Habs will start on Wednesday, Ron Maclean said, "A lot of talk about no Canadian teams (in the playoffs) but I will say this, guys....when we start with the 16 teams in Round 1, of the 320 players, 206 by my count will be Canadians....and we'll explain--maybe via our website--ways that you can tune in and CHEER FOR CANADA!"In other words...don't cheer for Montreal....cheer for Canada. That's the result of working with Cherry for 25+ years. PATHETIC! And not one word on Coach's Corner about Montreal and what they have to do to succeed in the playoffs. Such silence is loud and clear. They'll be forced to talk about Montreal on Wednesday....but that'll be comprised of how to beat them. SO glad these sell-outs don't have the Leafs around...again! KISS OF DEATH!

Yes, I think the RDS feed is a little bit behind real time. My son has a Bud Red Light at his mom's house, and he says that the light and the horn go off as much as a few seconds before the goal on TV. Kinda ruins the surprise when Patches breaks away. If the light doesn't go off whn he hits the blue liine you know he didn't score. Sure enough, my son tells me the light went off when Gionta was at the red line waiting for the whistle....

If the Tampa Bay series was any indication....the Bruins or Wings series will be intolerable.
Boston for obvious biased reasons...
And forget that Detroit handed the beloved Leafs two costly losses down the stretch....and that Montreal beat Detroit twice, helping Toronto's cause. The Wings will be the feel-good story of the year, with Canada's gold medal coach. Aren't we cheering for Canada?
Any chance HNIC supports the Habs in light of MacLean's remarks. Ha!
So glad there's RDS.

Since I don't understand French well enough to clue into conversations on RDS (though they look very interesting), just how 'homer-like" is that broadcast? With personalities like Mario Tremblay on there, I suspect it can be controversial. And does PJ Stock lick boots like he does on CBC?

I agree CH although I wish I could pick up the colour and intermission commentary, play by play I can understand for the most part.
Wonder what next year will bring at least the Habs will have a supporter in Strombo. That aside I hate homers anyways give me constructive commentary with insight even if it is out of left field I can appreciate it.
I love the Habs radio crew yes they are excited for the Habs but the comentary is down the middle with good constructive analysis good or bad.

Without a doubt, the RDS coverage is VERY "homer-style" and I don't think they even try to hide it or pretend otherwise. Most of the commentator were Ex Habs players at some point. However, they are very interesting and will never hesitate to give credit to the other team. I think it is different because I suspect 95% of their audience are Habs fans. It is not the case with CBC (even if they seem to think 95% are Leafs fans). I cannot suffer CBC.....

Ma Francais n'est pas tres bien, mais je regarde les matches sur RDS. (forgive any grammar mistakes my French speaking/typing brothers and sisters). Seriously though, it's not that hard to follow the RDS call. Before long you know what the French words are for penalties, and you can make sense of the play by play. The most important phrase is "Et le but!!!!"

Hockey wise he’s not the sharpest either, good thing Marc Denis is there to set him straight sometimes. The crew definitely roots for the HABS, no question about that, but they don’t flat out campaign that the HABS are the best thing since sliced bread and can do no wrong, nor do they campaign against other teams (Leafs, Boston, etc…).

I find Marc Denis is EXCELLENT. He really has a great vision of the play. Within seconds of a particular play, he can point where/when/and by whom the error or good move was made, even if it happened way before in a different zone. The guys between periods have time to prepare those interventions and have analyst working for them. He does it on the spot within seconds and is usually right (in my eyes anyway). Very interesting and informative. Also, being an ex-NHL Goalie, his take on the goalies techniques and all, is VERY interesting. I really like this guy. And it's even better when they play at the Phone Booth and he is between the benches beside Budaj. AND, he masters the French language to perfection...something Benoit Brunet had a bit of problems with.

Well, after Maclean's gaff last night I'm heading back to RDS. Between that and the Tampa pity parade.
One way to really stick it CBC would be for the Habs to win the Cup. In fact, that would stick it to every bandwagon Habs haters.
Franco, Willie. Should try for round two. If the stars align I might drag Cigarviper along with me.
Cheers.

CBC by default because I never paid attention in French class when I was a kid. Truly shortsighted thinking on my part when Danny Gallivan ruled.
