Wow...if this was april 1st I would have thought this was a joke. www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=449108This report indicates he had more than 1 gram on his person. 1/8 of an ounce is an "8-ball". That's about 3.5 grams. Sounds like he was at a party somewhere, drinking and snorting. I have no idea what possession laws are like in Florida. He's out on bond, but will he be allowed to travel? Hard to say. He's been a scratch at points this season, and a 4th liner when in the lineup, but I've always found him to be a bit of a Habs killer. So, if he's out of the line up for one reason or another, I won't mind.

Yes, me too. It doesn't appear he's playing as large a role as he once did for the Lightning, but it's still one more big, veteran body who will at least be distracted if he plays at all.

Never liked the guy. Use to run Saku as I recall. But that was in his prime. He's been on the down slide the last few years. Best case scenario is that it serves as a distraction for the young Bolts.

Speaking of injuries and young Bolts, I see the Latvian olympic goalie (remember him) played for TB last night AND PLAYED WELL. Let's hope he ain't no Ken Dryden!

Another reason for CBC to cheer for Tampa. Storyline: Gudlevskis almost thwarted Yzerman's team at the Olympics and now he's helping Yzerman thwart NHL teams. It's the Cooper vs. Therrien match-up that scares me the most.

I don't like that match up much either! Although is there a match up involving MT that gives one any confidence?

This is the first time in years that I can say that we have a team built for playoff success. Not saying a cup team, but a team that possibly can go all the way!! I wish I could feel your optimism. Their injuries and recent losses suggest otherwise.

CBC announces they'll be carrying the series, of course, and it starts Wednesday regardless of where it starts.

Gotta believe this time of year there will be a good Habs following in TB for the games! Perhaps it's a home game whether we finish 2nd or 3rd.
I almost want to start on the road as we are a pretty good road team, less pressure, and we just have to take one of two. But on the other hand, TB is not very good on the road. One thing is for sure, i feel much better agains TB without Vinny or Marty in the line-up!

More stuff coming to the foreground wrt Malone. When he got arrested in the early hours of Saturday morning for DUI and drug possession he was driving on a suspended license. His license was suspended for multiple infractions (likely other DUIs) and he had a court date for April 30th. Bolts fans are saying Malone's got a reputation for partying at Tampa clubs after games. This sort of lifestyle would explain why he's 20lbs over the what the team lists him at. Apparently he was also out of the lineup at the end of last year for some sort of mystery illness.

Sounds like a serious longterm meltdown. Hard to believe the team didn't know about all this. They certainly had to know about his weight. Hard to believe they didn't know about the partying. What does that say about Stevie Y?

That's what I was wondering, Habsorbed. The team couldn't possibly have not been aware of the issue, yet they seemed to turn a blind eye. The guy needs help, not tacit approval.

Re Malone, it's hard to say how long the destructive behavior has been going on. I can't imagine that team mates, coaches, and management didn't have an inkling (at least). Ryan's production has really tailed off the last 2 seasons. He's 34. Things catch up with you eventually. Heck, most clean living athletes that age slow down some.
The arrest means, per the league substance abuse policy, that he has to go to rehab. I would assume he'll be attending a facility sooner rather than later. Here's hoping he can get the help he needs and turn things around for himself. Fair to say he won't likely be available for the playoffs (at least to start).

Bolts outshoot the Caps 11-3 in the first period. Holtby getting it done. 0-0 after 1.

Thanks guys.
Holtby is the only one doing us any favours over 40 minutes. 0-0 after 2.
Shots are 23-7 Bolts.
Why even bother, Washington...really.
Last game for Oates behind that bench, most likely.

0-0 after 3.
Come on, Caps....get the extra. Just to say we got second.
Saw the third...."play it safe" doesn't even come close to describing this game.
I can see the Bolts going all out in OT. Why risk the shootout?

Shoot out it is.
Home ice in a playoff series determined by a gimmick.
Nice goin', Bettman. (I know there are more lost opportunities during the year...i.e. our loss to the Isles)....but still.

Pack your bags, boys!
We're heading to Tampa.
Caps couldn't score in the SO.

Brutal shoot out. Carle scored on a fanned shot. Well, that's what dogging a game against the Isles gets you.

Brutal shoot out. Carle scored on a fanned shot. Well, that's what dogging a game against the Isles gets you. I watched the third period, OT, and the SO online. Brutal NHL hockey. Millionaires not wanting to get hurt. Looked worse than pre-season. Tampa seemed very content to take their chances in the SO. Hope it bites them.....49 of our 100 pts. were on the road. Third best road record in the Conference...tied with the Pens. Tampa not far behind... Gotta get at least a split.

Ovi's nonchalant Malik homage was everything you need to know about him. The caps announcers were talking about the young Kuznetsov and his 200ft game. He competes all over the ice, and he certainly made a strong attempt in the shootout. The Caps have one compliance buyout left I believe. A new GM and a new coach next year: if that doesn't get Ovi back to his old self, I'd consider using it. Be really expensive, but who trades for him and that contract right now? www.capgeek.com/buyout-calculator/?player_id=847&buyout_y=2014&buyout_m=06&buyout_d=15Their best line all season was *-Chimera-Ward and whoever they played with, can't remember. Tom Wilson was very noticeable today. 20 years old. Big, very physical. Kuznetsov didn't burn his rookie year, having only played 17 games.

Bishop's agent is saying elbow. No timeline, but at least the rest of the regular season. Hard to imagine too many scenarios other than a dislocation when it comes to the elbow - especially the way he was writhing around on the ice. You hear that, Gallagher? E-L-B-O-W
