I have a buddy who paid to see that game tonight. I'd support a full refund.
Cheers.

19 shots on goal.
That's how you're going to win a Stanley Cup.

The d couldn't make a pass to save their life. Weaver looked tired. Markov and emelin looked like they forgot how to play after being off for 1 game. Gorges gets a bye after being off and pk is officially broken.
The whole team was off tonight. The 1st line spent their whole time trying to get patches his 40th. The 4th line worked hard.
Time to wake up or else they will be starting the playoffs on the road.

Sixth time they've been shut out this season, five of which happened at home.

No longer in control of our own destiny for 2nd. Boys looked like this was their 3rd game in 3 nights.
Can anyone explain to me the logic of resting Markov and Emelin last night and then playing them 27 and 25 mins respectively tonight? Why are tinoirdi and Beau not getting valuable experience? News Flash: MT is an idiot.
And PK is now an average top 4 dman. Well done MT!

Didn't see the game, but 19 shots with 3 PPs tells me everything. Just when you thought things were changing......that's why I'm not getting too excited about the post-season.
We need all things clicking. We're not THAT good, yet.
The "Subban is broken" comment above is very disturbing.
Maybe they're all just "resting up" and don't care about home ice.
But I bet Molson would like those extra games.

And PK is now an average top 4 dman. Well done MT! Tell you what.....if we bow out unceremoniously to Tampa with Subban playing like half the talent he is....and Murray/Bouillon getting lots of ice....then I'd fully support a Fire Therrien campaign. That's DEconstructive coaching to prove a point. Besides, PK will likely want out. We shall see.

And you'd be late to the party.

I could not foresee such a miserable showing. No one looked good.

Call it "West Isle Virus". It was a dog's breakfast of a game against a team we almost always lay eggs against. They had 12 minor leaguers dressed tonight. No one was sharp. No one. I could tell from the opening puck drop that they were flat. I gave it one period and the start of the second. When they couldn't muster jump after the intermission I knew I had to leave. Worst effort in a long time.

That happens too often for my liking. Coming out flat against a poor team. And Doug Murray is doing his best to miss the playoffs. It wouldn't have been that bad a check, but in his awkwardness because he can't skate, he hit the Islander again as Murray was falling (trying to keep from falling flat on his face IMO) and that last push did the bad damage. Sigh. Oh well, a long suspension ensures Tinordi gets more ice time. I think. But MT may have other ideas.

PK is done this year. He needs the summer away from MThead to try and remember how he should be playing... not to be clone of Gorges. I said the following in the game thread. MT has officially broken PK. Hesitating, not rushing the puck, making the safe play and has no emotion at all. Way to go dummy.

Talk about a difference in coaching!
On the Fan 590 yesterday, the lunch crew (Doug MacLean, Nick Kyreos, Darren Millard) were interviewing Mike Babcock--congratulating him for making the playoffs with such a short-handed team...i.e. getting the most out of his players.
Among the things Babcock said: (paraphrased)
--Nyquist is so good with the puck. He can stickhandle in a phone booth. He improves every day. One of the last guys off the ice at practice.
--Howie (Howard) got off to a slow start...had some injuries... Gustavsson stepped in and performed very well for us....and has been a big reason we're in.
--These kids are so much fun to coach. They work hard.
--The other night vs. Pittsburgh, I took Datsyuk and Abdelkader off the ice and put on (some of the kids, don't remember the names). Now, some might've thought I was nuts....but it worked and we got the tying goal. (He trusts ALL his players.)
There were more comments....all laudatory of his players.
That may be lip-service for other markets....but somehow, I think that's how Babcock is. He has the respect of the hockey world for a reason.
Trust breeds trust. Players know when you're being fair and have the good of the team at heart. Granted, the Wings had a lot of injuries forcing Babcock to play these kids, but did he ever use/develop them well. The culture of winning doesn't just happen.
Meanwhile, back in Montreal....MT will continue to make bad personnel decisions, punish/berate certain players, and show favouritism to the undeserving.

Yeah, it might just be a meaningless game....the boys played very well in Chicago the night before. I think it's the fact that it was the Islanders with a lot of call-ups....and that we could've/should've cemented home ice. I'm always wary of bad habits.

True enough dude. My sandwich and coffee are, indeed, missing ... The Rangers on Saturday ... Cheers.

Even if we don't get home ice advantage, the boys need to play for the prospect of finishing with 100 points. Go into the playoffs strong, hopefully.

We've been on a decent run lately, but last night they just laid an egg. It happens. I expect a strong effort on Saturday against the Rangers, and whether or not we get home ice 100 points is nothing to sneeze at. Every single person on this board would have taken that at the beginning of the year.

Yep, but it's the last change/match-ups that bother me.
I don't trust MT to put the right D out there....and an extra home game for the Bolts may not bode well.
I think Cooper's a better coach, anyway.
They made it through the Stamkos broken leg....then made it through the Marty St. Louis upheaval....
Bishop has been a big part of that success.....but he may be compromised somewhat.
We're in tough, home and away. That team works hard.

I'm not sure I want the Habs to have home ice advantage....there is a lot of pressure on the home team in the playoffs. However, I want the Habs to finish the season with a big win Saturday!! Go into the playoffs with some swagger!

Swagger? After their dump on the ice with the Islanders? I have forebodings about a quick exit. Another embarrassing exit in the first round might set some wheels in motion. The absence of Galchenyuk wouldn't make a convincing excuse.

I think this team plays better without swagger. It seems a soon as they think they're the favourite they lay an egg. i'd much rather be the underdog!
