In game 2 Rene Bourque played the way we might expect to see from Max Pacioretty. If he can sustain it the Bruins would be in for a rude surprise in the second round (that is, if they reach it). He has the size and the speed to impose himself if he's motivated to use these assets.

Easy big boy! That was one game. The blind squirrel found a nut. The dog had a day.
Had to laugh at his interview on CBC during the game telecast. The interviewer referred to Bourque as "cerebral". I was like, do you know who you're interviewing? And then Bourque showed his sound understanding of the game when he said "We just want to get the two points!". He's probably going to be perplexed tomorrow when he sees he's playing the Lightning again. That's three consecutive games against the same team. What's with these schedule makers? And always around this time of year.

Yes, we must contain our Bourque excitement (yawn) at least until he shows it over a stretch of time (highly unlikely but I wish we could trade him right now, in the glow of his performance). Nonetheless, I have my fingers and toes crossed that he keeps it up. PS. Habsorbed, was it Stock doing the interviewing?

Granted he capitalized only in the one. If I'm not mistaken, he wasn't all bad against Ottawa last year either. Scored one of our only goals. Maybe we have another Briere in our lineup. He has always had the size, speed and shot to do well. no drive

Lol...lets see if he can put a large string of good games....take note this series is a non hitter for the most part, so Bourque doesn't feel as afraid....get in a series with Bruins Flyers even Blue jackets Bourque will be no where to be found. Glad he is contributing because in the playoffs, you need everyone but as far as discovering a power forward let alone a consistent player I doubt it.

Always been that way, even when he was with Flames and Hawks. Very odd

All the tools, seldom the toolbox. He's been engaged since the scratching. As long as he uses his speed, plays hard on the puck, and takes the body I'll be satisfied. I do think it's worth noting that he was one of our better forwards against Ottawa last year. Also of note is chemistry he seems to have with Eller. Gionta gives them a veteran with a high compete level. Right now, it's working.

And really, both Eller and Bouque are fighting for playing time, so they should both work hard because they know someone else is waiting in the wings... it's nice to have depth, makes guys compete harder.

I think Bourque's performance has been consistent with what we've seen from Montreal as a team. Every year it seems the team that does the best has the goaltending and extra mileage out of their bottoms lines. As John Bartlett points out, in game one it was the fourth line that contributed. In game two it was the third line that made it happen. Scoring has been spread out, though, with all four lines contributing. Cheers.

Stock was the first guy I could think of who might consider Bourque 'cerebral'.

Bourque wrote the book on streaky with extra chapters on indifference. Going to take what he givers but I'm not going to get too excited.

Bork could easily have a career playoff this Spring before sinking back into disappointment next season. I don't know that I've seen him play better as a Hab than he is right now, but I'll gladly take the pleasant surprise that he's been. May he stay hungry.

btw Cranky, I don't see this team choking on a 2-0 lead time around, if only because TB is a little too banged up to dig out of this hole.

How can you ask me to waste perfectly good dung with my wifes cooking? Well, you could try it in a blind taste test and report back. In the meantime, bask in Bourque's 3 goals in 2 games. Admit it, it took him only 11 seconds to put you in a good frame of mind.
