HNIC was complaining (SURPRISE) that Tampa didn't get enough breaks (I guess we'll discount their first two goals scored tonight).
Did not feel good about that third period, but it was good to see the powerplay get us out of trouble, and for Max to finally pot his first.

... I was fuming after the first goal. What a #ock up. Still, they rebounded and scored to get it right back. Carey over committed on the play that led to Hedman's bank shot. He's got to stay between his posts - and he had the time to reset. I can well imagine the Toronto boys will all be up in arms about a blatant offensive zone trip. There were others. There was two guys mugging Gallagher. There were hits from behind on Emelin. A brutal hook/hold/pin against the boards in the second behind the Tampa net. A hold on Weaver late in the third. I'm just glad they managed to score. I was doing a lot of pleading for someone to just bloody shoot the puck on that PP. They did. That's all it too. Happy for Max to crack the goose egg. Has to feel good. His Dad was in the crowd tonight. First sweep in our favor since 1993. Not sure how I feel about what could be an extended break (though I wouldn't mind Detroit beating Boston quick ).

Turned off the TV after the Bolts tied it.
Glad the two missing elements clicked on the winner: the PP and a member of the first line.
Wait til the next series on HNIC.
If it's Boston, they're a no-brainer (Cherry, Stock, MacLean)
If it's Detroit, it'll be the Cinderella-story...Team Canada coach Babcock....on and on.

... I was fuming after the first goal. What a #ock up. I'll bet that was pushed in with the Bolt player's glove. But there was no way that was going to be over-ruled. Even the ref waved it off....blew the whistle....then called it a goal. Mission accomplished....the last game's no-goal was avenged. So the Bolts got plenty of zebra help tonight (despite MacLean's home-province assertion)... BUT HEY! Sweeping a series isn't easy....and the boys did it. I'll bet it's been a long time since it's been done by a Habs team winning the first two on the road. I'll look it up. Kudos. EDIT: The Habs swept a 3-game series against the Bruins in 1983-84...winning the first two in Boston. But that's not a 4-gamer. 4-game series: 1967-68 Stanley Cup final. Even though the Habs finished with more points, for some reason the series started in St. Louis.

Great series didn't think they would do it just based on the number of passengers we have had on and off on the 3rd and 4th lines but they were the guys who made the series so kudos to the team and to the coach. Tampa got two fluke goals so that was the main reason they stayed in this game....Habs were full credit but they have to be even better going forward which maybe a lot to ask...we need Tinordi and Beaulieu rotated in IMO.
Not sure if they have the stamina to go all the way but it would be sweet to beat the anointed Bruins...although if they got to the East final not making the cup final would be a bit of a downer.
Thank god I have heart relief for a week..
Go Habs

I'm really pulling for Detroit. That would be a really good series.

10 days off.
There will be rust...but it'll help our sick bay....and rest up the vets. I have a feeling something's wrong with Vanek as well.
Galchenyuk will likely be back, too.

SWEEP......
I thought that without the unusual great goaltending, they were a one trick pony...that could be shut down. Well, like a clock, I'm right twice a day.

What do your crystal balls say about our chances in Round Two? Or do they need to know the opponent before being consulted? Any small farm animals harmed in this process?

Guys...as one who leans to the right, not a nanosecond goes buy where the CBC does not show it's bias. We are now seeing their arrogant, FU, we-answer-to-nobody bias right in front of us.
And you wonder why we want to defund their arrogant, biased world? Free them to the free market.....and the market will fix their arrogance in a hurry.
Sorry to bring politics into this, but I have a pretty nice hate streak for the CBC

Boston won 3-0 tonight. Got goals from Hamilton and Caron. Howard wasn't in top form despite making more than 30 saves. Wings got booed off the ice at the end of the first - out shot 11 to 4. Doesn't sound like a Wings crowd really. A little early for it too. They need to come back with a top effort in game 4. If they don't, I don't think it goes 6 games.

Tampa is two pony team. Detroit and Booins are well rounded. Price has to be elite or we are golfing.

The Habs played a good series, individually and collectively. It was nice to see a power play goal and for what the goal was worth.
Pass the first test, now the next. Of course it will be harder, so fortunately confidence is high.

I think there's a lot to be said about the pressure to clinch a series. Until you do as a group, there can be doubts. They did it in their first try together. It turned into a struggle, but they persevered. Here's hoping that they can draw on that experience as they proceed further.

I'm not going to argue if your bias is better or worse then mine, it's irrelevent, but neither of us should roll our eyes at what should be "just the news facts".

...if it does any good to our chances I predict we lose in 3
smurfville will do well by the rest.... pretty much guaranteed it's our good old pals from Boston
As much success as we have had the Boys will have to be even better and the PP can not be in the dumper to have any chance...plus they'll have to turn their cheeks and balls and take a bunch of non retaliatory whacks.
Going to be tough but man it would be sweet to beat these a$$es

The Habs nearly let the game get away from them but there was no way the Bolts could have won the series. I was glad to see Pacioretty get the winning goal. The Habs should spend the upcoming week devising a strategy to beat the Bruins. They've been in this position before and it's chance for them to get even for 2011.

Guess I got what I asked for ... bring on the controversy ... didn't like the call ... but, I don't care ... CBC seemed to be in a bit of a panic ... MacLean was stumbling through his "it-would-be-bad-timing-to-dress-a-French-referee" point. It had nothing to do with anything and there's enough controversy already without going into "what/ifs" ... Jim Hughson was actually feeling sorry for Tampa at one point ... then he was giddy when they tied it up ... thought going into the "OLE" song in the second period made for bad karma ... liked the emotion at the Bell Centre. Unbelievable! I'm pretty sure CO was there ... didn't like that third period meltdown ... Gallagher ... Gorges with some excellent defensive play throughout the series ... anyone else thinking the league wouldn't mind seeing a Boston/Montreal series ...
Cheers.

This team won't be phased by the idea of playing Boston. There are some things they'll have to do better, but those things are mostly easy fixes. The PP ... well.

Watching and listening to CBC squirm as the series went on was the cherry on top of this sweep.

Puck possession, skating.....and turn the other cheek. Plus stellar goaltending. Detroit can play our game as well as us and Jesus Price gives us the edge. Booins need to gutter the game, particularly in our zone. We will need to change two defenseman and play smart and desperate to win. We can win, but it will be another level of tougher.

Boy the refs did everything they could to give TB that game. Could they be anymore obvious with their view that no calls should be made against a team down 3-0 in the series and 2-0 in the game. Absolutely brutal. How does Stamkos not get a penalty for the punch? and kilhorn running Price. Then there was the clear cross check to Bourque when he was on his knees. Not to mention the hooking and holding in the TB zone. Boys kept coming though. Ref had to call Paquette as could have resulted in a turnover leading to a goal. Good for our PP.
Can't believe Maclean played the 'F' card! Are they that bitter about the Habs success? Even at the end of the game he says "Montreal full value for the win except for the break they got."
As for the series, hard to know if we gelled at the right time or TB is just that bad. I'm thinking the latter. No Bishop and very slow sloppy D made us look good. Lots of rookies in TB line-up who clearly were not up to the test. had to laugh when they said this was Aulie's first playoff game. I thought to myself hasn't he been around a long time. Then it occurred to me, he was a Leaf for a while - no playoffs there. Don't get me wrong. i picked us in 5 knowing Bishop was hurt. Still think we would have won if Bishop played. But injuries are funny: if AGal was not injured would Bourque have played in this series?
