BRAVO to the team on a great season.
BRAVO to Dustin Tokarski for giving us a chance in this series when our MVP went down in Game 1.
Disappointing effort in Game 6....but that can't take away from a 100-pt. season....sweeping the Bolts, and taking out our hated rivals--the President's Trophy winners.
Weaknesses will be addressed by MB.
But that's for another thread.
Before the autopsy....let's praise the boys for a great, unexpected ride late into May! The furthest we've been since 1993.
===================================
Rangers were the better team...(albeit chippy/dirty) but they will get steamrolled in the Finals.

Still, really disappointed in the effort tonight. With the whole season on the line they only manage 5 shots in the 3rd & 18 total.

They didn't necessarily fizzle, but only 18 shots on goal?
Goaltending definitely not the issue for our team. I was underwhelmed by a lot of our veterans tonight. Gionta, Bouillon and Plekanec should be gone.

I was hoping but the Rangers established the tempo in the third ... it was their game just as soon as that happened ... great season ... still very disappointed, though ... thanks to Bergevin, Therrien and the players ... what a ride ...
Cheers.

Gionta, Bouillon and Plekanec should be gone. Agree there. Where was Gionta's experience & leadership - nowhere to be found. I think it's also time for Plekanec to go. At times he looked disinterested.

Felling a letdown. Just not enough tonight. Soft passes easily intercepted. Passes to areas where Rangers players were waiting. They played well, but I think many of our players made them look good too.
Vanek's legs appeared to be revived a bit tonight. He did generate some chances, and Hank robbed him in the second.
HUGE thanks to Tokarski. He was fantastic.
All in all, a very good year. Close to great.

Gionta, Bouillon and Plekanec should be gone. The Rangers dominated. They played the perfect game against us. Shut down the neutral zone and stop our speed at the blue line. I don't think we played as bad as they were excellent. We all know the Cup goes west this year so it's on Bergevin now to build from this. Loss of Price, I bet an injured Vanek and Subban didn't help us.

Gionta, Bouillon and Plekanec should be gone. We got only 16 shots in Game 7 in Boston....but we worked harder for the breaks. True. While we have some really good weapons up front with Eller, Galchenyuk, Gallagher, and Paccioretty, we need much more help defensively. Markov's losing a step, and Subban can't do it all.

Great season, uninspired finish.
Price and Tokarski going forward. Sounds good.
Time to bid some guys bye bye.
Top Four finish...way better than all the experts predicted. Solid core with lots of resilience. Weise and Weaver likely have earned an invite back.
Enjoy your summer boys, it was a good run...most fun in years!!

Nicely done on a very good and well beyond expectation season and playoff run!
No one like it unless you win the last game.
only comment re any of the above ... whether he is back or not; sometimes it helps to watch the game ... Boullion saved 1 for sure; likely 2 goals against tonight.
Go Habs Go!!!
Thanks team, MT and staff and MB for getting things on track sooner than anticipated.
Cheers!

They had a great run. Proud of the effort all the way through. The took out the B's and I couldn't have been happier. But it is time for some of the vets to go and let the youth take over the leadership. Galchy gally pk weise bournival price eller

He was tossing people around in the regular season and he couldn't get leverage at all in the last 2 rounds.

Loss of Price, I bet an injured Vanek and Subban didn't help us. Losing Emelin and Weise really hurt us, too ... still, quite the ride this year ... would like to know what that injury is to Vanek ... #verydisappointedCheers.

Vanek was clearly playing hurt imo. He just couldn't move out there. Last game was an improvement, and tonight he had as much jump as anyone on the roster. Healthy, he'll continue to produce. I still think he needs to be with DD and Max, and would have done that in the third for sure. That's on MT.
Gorges' was a target the whole series. For the most part, he was unable to respond.
Pleks is a spare part now.
Bouillon was a bridge player. The bridge is built and the young guys are ready.
Gionta is done. The biceps tendons mean he simply can't shoot anymore. There are plenty of players a lot bigger who move faster. We need more jam in his roster spot. Hate to see a captain go out with a whimper, but c'est la vie.
Bourque had a good enough playoff that maybe you find a taker at the draft.
Briere left his position tonight covering the front, and that left Moore alone to score. He scored some clutch points, but when the chips are down he's a small soft player. Buying out isn't an option as he signed at 35. 13 forward next year I guess.
Weise and Weaver are locks for me. Weise can be qualified. Weaver shouldn't be expensive.
Markov will likely be back. We don't have the replacement ready to eat the minutes and produce. There isn't a better option in free agency. Here's hoping for 2 years and a discount.
Finally, a big tip of the cap to Budaj. He could have easily sulked publicly after not getting a chance to start a game. He got slapped in the face, and never made a stink in public. It could have been a distraction, and it wasn't.

I'm ok with the season they had, considering the make up of the team. To be honest, I'm happier that they lost in this round because losing in the final would really suck. Now for the criticisms. - Really crappy effort tonight. I will give them a pass because IMO, the effort happened not because of a lack of heart or desire, rather, this team looked gassed. Aren't the Habs supposed to be a fast team? - I for one did not get the wool pulled over my eyes. This team is still not built to survive the long playoff grind. The Borg MUST see that our midgets can only take the team so far. - Gionta must be let go, he looks unable to keep up any longer. - If Vanek isn't injured, then Buh-Byyyyyye. The team will probably miss his offence, but the Habs already have a couple of enigmatic and talented forwards. - In this Rangers series, I came to doubt my initial desire that signing Markov was a necessity. To me he looks done. When Markov starts to handle the puck, and skate like Douglas Murray, I think that he should be let go. I could go on, but I will make one last remark. I loved Gainey as a player of the Habs. He earned his place amongst the Gods in the Habs Pantheon. But as a GM of the team, I hate him a little more, (and whomever else was responsible) every time I see McDonnagh in a Rangers jersey.

the future will work if MT allows it. for example, gotta let Tinordi get some game time. the days of bringing in middlin' UFAs and not playing the young guys have got to end.
oh, and sign Weise!

A year left, and teams looking for 2nd line centers. Now's the time. Don't let him walk.

He still is a great defensive forward and we have no one to take his place right now.

I was told that no one works as hard as Plekanec ... that's another part of his reputation, too ... but, hey, if Berg has a chance to fulfill a need ... Cheers.
