For a VERY friendly 3-year, $19.5 million contract with a $6.5m cap hit. You figure that's where he wanted to end up, but man I would have matched that offer in a heartbeat. I would have given him 4 years at $6.5 million. Still makes me wonder why the Habs didn't even want to go that far.

Would he have accepted it though. Maybe Minny is the only place he'd accept a pay cut and term cut.

He refused 7 for 50 from isles so this is a hometown discount.
Don't care. He only was here because he had a contract.

I heard speculation back at the trade deadline that he wanted to rejoin his ol' Buffalo buddy, Pominville.
It was likely always "Minny" in his head.

And after that less than impressive playoff, Berg wasn't anxious to retain him. At least our management is not fooled by the forked tongues of pretending UFA's.
