Bottom line, Pollock cared about one thing and one thing only. Winning. Everybody was a chess piece to that. If Pollock was running the show now and he was offered a great package for PK from Florida, PK would be packing his swim thong. ...and by the same token if Pollock felt that PK is instrumental to his team winning a cup you wouldn't get him with a bunch of youngsters no matter how good they smell. ...Price...Subban...Pacioretty...Gallagher...Galchenyuk...Tinordi...Beaulieu...(and I'm certain that Scherbak will join that group sooner rather than later...) building a winning team is, IMO, about putting the right pieces in place and holding on to it... you cycle satelite players...not core ones.

Interesting that he puts that out there during negotiations.

Interesting that he puts that out there during negotiations. I believe 'reiterate' means he has said this on numerous, prior occasions ... Likely just said it again during the tv segment last wee as he was being polite and forthright when asked (for the billionth time) 'the question'. Doubt there is any more to it than that ... and that PK wants this done sooner than later more than we do.

Those are just words. I've heard talk like that before. A signature would be far more convincing. He could say after not signing a long-term contract that he wanted to be a lifer but the money wasn't there.

I remember Shane Corson saying something similar but it turned out to be lip service ... he signed with the Leafs after ... I think a lot of players ultimately do what the want, anyway ... sounds like Subban wants to be in Montreal ... a good thing ... Cheers.

So, when asked about going to play with his home town Leafs, PK said that he can't lie, he's thought about it and that he likes it in MTL and that "they've" treated him well Attachments:

First Stamkos, now Subban. Why do fans/ media think everyone from Ontario wants to play in Toronto?

More intelligent user comments on the National Post site than say - Sportsnet or TSN.

This thread is like, "would you divorce your wife and what do you think she's worth?" I have no plans to divorce my wife, and what is she worth? Mother of my children? Is she asking for $10 million a year and for ten years? That exceeds my cap space. Is Christie Brinkley available in trade? Not likely. Is there an 18 year old ready to be drafted? Sure but do I get first choice? Subban will be signed for two years, cheap or 8 years expensive. If two years he may be renegotiated in one year or traded while he has value before we lose him for nothing. Too many unknowns for both the team and PK. He WILL play for us next year, he will play well and from the time the first puck drops. Bergy will manage his cap space well retaining flexibility to help he team. Injuries, success, failures, rookies, teams with cap problems, buyers and sellers. Too many unpredictable variables.

We had plenty of "Habs for life" either in our imaginations or players/agents bs. Komi was going to be future captain and Hab for life....until TO gave him a stupid contract. Corson was a "fer sure" to sign...two werks later, he signed elsewhere. Every year, thrre is at least one free agent who wants to sign....but never does. There is zero value in what plyers or THEIR agents say until they sign.
