Nothing fancy ... here's the lineups as per Fansided Daily ... interested in seeing how the second line does ... one guy who would help the club, but is getting caught up in the numbers might be Charles Hudon ... very talented, but small ... Max Pacioretty – David Desharnais – P.A. Parenteau Nikita Scherbak – Alex Galchenyuk – Brendan Gallagher Brandon Prust – Manny Malhotra – Dale Weise Travis Moen – Charles Hudon – Michael Bournival Alexei Emelin – P.K. Subban Nathan Beaulieu – Mike Weaver Davis Drewiske – Greg Pateryn Carey Price Peter Budaj

This is certainly most of our regular season line-up. Looks like they're not experimenting that much today. Tuesday's game had most of our B team on it. This is definitely an A line-up.

Thomas really wants a spot.

Pretty entertaining period thus far considering it's just the 2nd game of the preseason. Say whay you will about Thomas' upside as an NHL player or his future with the habs, you have to give him credit, he has definitely had a very strong camp.
On another note, man how nice would it be to have Mackinnon on our team, this kid is special.

Patches ties it with a snipe, some nice work by Beaulieu on the PP.

PK doing what he does best, blasts one from the point on the PP to tie it back up. 2-2

I like what I see from #64 I see a Pateyrn actually devloping. Seriously though, he's looked solid.

A 5-on-3 for 30 seconds in OT…with our A team….
They should win it here.

No net presence on the PP at all. Standing off the side. But Galchy scores just as the PP expired.

Galchenyuk wins it on a very nice individual effort and great shot.

Can anyone explain to me why we wouldn't force a whistle (go offside, ice the puck) when the 5 on 3 became a 5 on 4. 4 on 3 is always better than 5 on 4. We went over a minute 5 on 4 - dumb! I guess MT gets older but no wiser!

Parenteau was just so and so. I thought he would eat the boards playing against Roy's team. Thomas played another strong game and was awarded the third star. I can't see an opening for him on this team. Perhaps they're showcasing him for a trade to acquire what they need (number 3 to 4 dman with strong NHL experience) in a package deal eg Tinordi or Beaulieu and Thomas for the like of Eric Gelinas.

I don't get the fascination with Gelinas [this isn't the first time I've heard his name mentioned].He's a year older than Tinordi. He played 60 games in the NHL last year. How does that compute to a number 3 or 4 dman with strong NHL experience?

How does that compute to a number 3 or 4 dman with strong NHL experience? Gelinas settled his salary dispute with Lamoriello and signed with the Devils for one year at $900K. Apparently, Bergevin did try to make a Tinordi for Gelinas straight-up trade but it did't work. At any rate, Gelinas doesn't want to play for Montreal. He wants to play on the West Coast and wants to make UFA money ASAP. That's why I wrote a Gelinas like dman meaning a bona fide second pairing NHL dman, which Tinordi, Beaulieu or Pateryn haven't achieved yet.

As far as I’m concerned there is no competition for the open spot on D… Beaulieu is head and shoulders above Pateryn and Tinordi… I know people here don’t like Bouillon but I’d much rather have Pateryn and Tinordi playing mega minutes in Hamilton rather than sit in the press box in Montreal as a 7th dmen…
Thomas reminds me a little bit of Gallagher.
Is it just me or Drewiskie didn’t look too bad?
Galchenyuk can be magic… leave him at center with 2 good wingers and watch him take off this year…
Parenteau did nothing yesterday to erase the strong reservations I had with his acquisition…
PK is ready!

OK, I focused on "Gelinas" (who I don't think is a bona-fide 3-4 yet) rather than "Gelinas- like. gotcha.

Right on ... didn't see the game last night ... Drewiskie was paired with Pateryn, no? ... good to read some positives about Pateryn here in the thread, but there's just no room for him on the right side ... think the Leaf defence corps could use him now? ... also good to hear about Beaulieu ... won't be so good to hear his name routinely pop up in trade talks, though ... so, if Galchenyuk sticks at centre what will the organization do? ... keep all their centres? ... Cheers.

Bergevin definetly has some cards to play with if he feels like dealing.
p.s. I've also heard some good things about Pateryn this preseason. Sounds like he is doing better than Tinordi. I can live with another year of Tinordi in Hamilton with the hopes he can progress and replace Weaver. I think that Pateryn ceiling is a #5 or 6 defenceman

Great post. Imo, Drewiske usually doesn't look too bad, he just doesn't have much of an upside. He should be a lock as our 7th D with Beaulieu taking the #6 spot as you suggested. That would allow all the kids to keep playing and developing.
