0-0 after 1. Shots 8-4 Hawks.
Still a lot of hopefuls in the lineup.
Bourque-Eller-Sekac de la Rose-Andrighetto-Thomas Bournival-Prust-Weise Dumont-Dowell-Bowman
Emelin-Beaulieu Tinordi-Pateryn Drewiske-Dietz
Price Tokarski
The Hawks have pretty much their A-lineup, minus Crawford.
Bouillon resting with the other vets....I hope that doesn't mean he's "one of them".

RDS focused on No.28, Beaulieu (Conner Crisp was given #40) ... good control of the puck in his own end ... very good first pass ... impressive period for him ... Cheers.

I'm serious. Every indication is that he's made it. Emelin's the only regular dman dressed, so everyone else is a hopeful. Not Cube. If that is indeed the case, I'm concerned about the management group's thinking. Perhaps its Therrien putting pressure on Berg that he can't count on the youngsters. If that's the case, I hope Bouillon directly causes us to lose a bunch of games. Stupidity deserves its own reward. Or maybe I'm worrying for nothing and Cube's not playing because they want to test all the other real hopefuls.

Pateryn didn't look good there as the Hawk just skated around him. He didn't turn until it was too late.

Sekac just made a great move in his own end to get the puck out of the zone. This kid has definitely made the team. So much better than (cough).

Hey boys hope all is well looking forward to another season...at least our boys are trending closer to what we deserve around here ..lol....still think they may need an add or two.
One thing I like from the kids is the general speed not too many look out of place...that being said not a lot of chemistry but they are working hard and most importantly Price looks ready for a big season he has been way sharper than in pre seasons past.
If Boo Boo makes the team its my fault I actually had a dream MT dressed down Tinordi in front of everyone sent him down and got on the phone to BOO BOO ...now that's a nighmare insurance or not...I want them to move on and get the future in the mix.

Good test for the young guys tonight. Hardly any offense, far from perfect defence, but they're battling.

Lets hope they can steal one and keep building that confidence...curious if their minds are made up in regards to the back up??? Apparently Price is still slated for another full game leaving one for Bujds or Toker maybe the starter is the pick who knows??
Start of the third Eller needs one to get off the snide and get his season going.

Woohoo. I thought he was injured. No, he's not playing ... I just found his number on the roster ... just saw Pateryn pull off a boner at the line that led to the Chicago goal ... bummer ... Beaulieu and Price both having good games ... Thomas/Bourque/Eller having a good game ... Cheers.

Pateryn sealed his bus ride to Hamilton with that give away I saw that ... brutal ... didn't help his cause with Beaulieu and Tinordi playing the way they are, not just tonight but in the preseason in general ... Dietz suited up tonight as well ... Cheers.

Well, how bout that. 1 regular dman, handful of vet fwds, and a win. I'm trying to remind myself that it was only a preseason game ... one one side you had all these young players trying to make the team ... on the other side you see pretty much the starting lineup for the Black Hawks ... maybe that was the difference in motivations, I really don't know ... but it was good to see some of the talent on display tonight ... was glad to see Bournival pot that empty-netter ... a good thing because Bowman is making a strong case to stay as well ... Nathan Beaulieu had an outstanding game ... he was the game-changer tonight ... Price was zoned in for Chicago ... the line of Thomas/Eller/Bourque had a good game overall ... Andrighetto and De La Rose had a few good shifts ... completely missed Jake Dowell being picked up by the club ... Pateryn hasn't had a good preseason at all ... talk about bad timing ... both Beaulieu and Tinordi have had pretty good preseasons ... still only a preseason game, I know ... but still ... Cheers.

Well, how bout that. 1 regular dman, handful of vet fwds, and a win. Helps when you have the better, if not the best, goalie. As well, in an exhibition game i would bet on the kids who are trying to secure a spot over the vets who are more or less getting a work out. After watching the d tonight, we're back to the Tinordi v. Beaulieu debate. Pateryn has struggled last few and the gaff at the blue line sealed his fate. Dietz is no where near ready. Still can't figure out why we ever picked up Drewiski. I like the looks of Sekac, very promising. He reminds me of Richer. But he may also turn into a Dagenais/Pouliot. Still got to get use to the NHL. But a good skater and good head. Hard not to like thomas and his work ethic and skill. The one player who was not on my radar but I have liked his pre-season is Andrigatto(?). Both play the BGal game but not quite as well. But don't think we have a place for either of them right now. So Lars had the big 'A' on - youthful roster. Lars is always getting better in his own end and will always be a good third line centre. Can he take the next step and improve his offence to become a second liner? He shows great moves every now and then.

I hope Lars can elevate his game... size down the middle would not be an issue with Galchy and Eller as your 1-2. I also heard that the HAbs have been in talks with the Hawks... Hawks have to clear some people out for cap space (2.2M over) and we have 2.6 of space available according to capgeek.

The most common names tossed around are Leddy, Oduya and Rozsival on the blueline and Bickell up front. Personally I would love to get Leddy, though in terms of return he would probably cost the most, and I do realize we have a glut of defensemen on the blueline already. Still, you can never have enough defensemen if you ask me, and getting a 23 year old who has already played over 200 NHL games for a Stanley Cup winner sounds like a good deal to me. But like I said the cost would be rather significant in terms of prospects and picks, I would think. I'd have some interest in Bickell as well, but that would necessitate another move up front and I'm not a fan of over-complicating things. Based on last night's game I would have to say that Beaulieu has cemented his already pretty solid position in the lineup and the blueline battle is over. I think he and Bouillon are going to round out the 6th and 7th spots.

If he can continue to overcome the lack of size he'll be a good NHLer somewhere.

HERE are the highlights, for those who missed the game. Gotta laugh at the complete lack of emotion from the homer Chicago play-by-play on all the Habs' goals. Price looked very sharp.

Keith had a point blank slapper in the slot because Pateryn was trying to do Tinordi's job in the corner rather than stay in front of the net and do his. I've noticed that before from him in his last game also. Beaulieu gets the job over Tinordi, but how about Drewiske over Bouillon. Soupy has only played the one game so far and got 2 assists but he was running around all game for that one and getting beaten. Drewiske was a +3 in this game. I tried to watch the game but it my stream was all chopy so I didn't see much but from comments I read, the whiskey mam had a solid game. He does make a good #7 who can sit for long periods.
