It usually takes a couple of years when a new GM is hired to really see if he has a new vision for the future or just a new face doing more of the same. Last year the Habs had a good season by all standards and it may have been easy to tinker and bring in 1-2 older free agents with the hopes that takes them one step further this year. Since the last game of the playoffs Bergevin has removed the captain, two veteran defenseman, a seasoned goalie and a high priced rental and given the team over to a bunch of kids with some experience and lots of potential. He has also made the team bigger, younger and tougher and is money under the cap so in all I'm pretty impressed and happy with the job he has done. I think the team can likely take a step back this year in the standings with more rookie mistakes to be made but I think they will be a solid group by the playoffs. The next 2-3 years should be interesting as this team grows together.
