From John Lu, TSN's Montreal reporter:
"Bergevin on last roster cut to get to 23: I haven't told the player yet and I'm still working on something."
Trade? Waivers? Apartment rentals in Hamilton? His Sudoku puzzle?

Maybe Moen is in play.
Needs to finalize that roster quickly though. Wonder where DLR ends up?

Not a surprise. Not expecting significant return. It will free up another $1.8 million (potentially).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Emelin traded.....reports out of practice today say he's the odd man out.

...I would think as well he's trying to move Moen... would be in line with his veteran purge (Gionta, Gorges, Briere, Budaj, Bouillon, Murray...)

I wouldn't deal Emelin at this point. I expect him to be better than he was last year coming off the knee injury. Those things really take a full season before the player is back to full strength, and we saw the same with Markov who was much better the second season after the injury.
I'm not sure Tinordi is ready to displace Emelin on the left side, but I wouldn't rule it out down the road. Better to keep the extra depth and see how it goes, especially since Bouillon was let go.
Moen seems the obvious next move. I'd be asking for a trade if I were him.

He said when he was hired that a good GM is constantly on the phone, working things….and his actions back it up.
I'm also happy to see that there are no leaks, no drama. The majority of acquisitions/trades have been unexpected but most-welcome moves...and handled with class.
That's how a team should be run.

It certainly is interesting times in Habs land. What is interesting is this appears to be team generated and not crazy media generated.
MB certainly does have a business like approach to dealing with everything... loyalty is important but when it comes right down to it, everything is done in the teams best interest.

I think the lack of media-nonsense is due to Bergevin commanding respect while remaining affable. Nice balance to find. And making the semi-finals last year also helps in that regard.

Maybe they put a claim in on somebody who was waived today (Steve Bernier?) and want to see if they get him before cutting Moen.

His Sudoku puzzle? Any chance you were eating steak last night? ... it may go along with what Therrien said on October 2nd when he "hints at big news for the Habs" ... that might have been the Budaj/Holland to Winnipeg deal, but I couldn't tell you one way or the other ... one thing about Bergevin ... he has no problem letting people know that he's continually working on something ... Cheers.

Have heard the Emelin/Subban experiment has so far not been ideal but its only been 4 exhibition games?
I would deduce that if a d -man moved it would be Emelin and his salary especially if Tinordi and Beaulieu can show they can step in on a full time basis.
Further to that everyone's favorite rumour monger has been on the Habs wanting to upgrade it's D for a month seems odd...salary aside I like what Emelin brings to this blue line something that we need and even harder to replace.
He is maybe our only guy that has players wondering wear he is on the ice.
Regardless looks like we definitely have an active GM who is looking to put the final pieces in place sooner than later.
Should be a fun team to watch.
Go Habs
