All NHL teams must submit their list of 23 players tomorrow. Here's mine for the Habs:
Pacioretty-Desharnais-Parenteau (if not on IL) Galcheniuk-Plekanec-Gallagher Bourque-Eller-Cekac Prust Malhotra Weis (12)
Sub: Bournival Moen (14)
Emelin-Subban Markov-Gilbert Beaulieu-Weaver
Sub: Tinordi (7)
Price-Tokarski (2)
Total: (23)
MB might trade Moen at the last minute and replace him by DelaRose on the list of 23.

Or, if he deals Moen….then perhaps Tangradi steps in.

I want to see how Emelin looks back on his strong side again. After all, the Berg did mention that it was part of the strategy behind some of the D moves this summer...getting better RD and LD balance.
Even if they do move Moen, I would expect that DLR would benefit more from lots of ice time in Hamilton for a while rather than being the 14th forward with the Habs. The kid is still only 19 even though his poise is beyond his young age it seems.

Perhaps Bergevin has other ideas about how to replace Moen. They may involve letting go of DLR or other young players as well. If that's the case, then a major trade could be in the works.

I would think it has to be Moen or an upgrade on defense. Or maybe I'll finally get to a true ubergoon.
I used up all my begging and pleading on PK....so whatever comes...

Sounds like Don Cherry will be hard-pressed looking for material this year ... nah, he'll find more clips of Orr.

Did Sekac really pass Bournival on the depth chart or is he just the flavor of the month? Seriously, I love what Bournival brings to the table. I'd hate to lose that for a guy like Sekac who from what I can tell doesn't really do anything all that well. I'm not saying Bournival is a guy that's gonna give you 15 goals but he brings energy, and is great on the forecheck.

We'll see how Sekac does during the heavy going but from what I've see he's got it all over Bournival, and does just about everything well (strong skater, playmaker, size, dances, and shoots, all with a good sense for the game). I like Bournival and his contribution but Sekac may be a game changer.

Bournival is a relentless forechecker with great wheels, reminds me a bit of a toned down version of Steve Begin... These guys must prove themselves at each and every camp. Sekac's ceiling definitely appear to be higher though.

I think he's the best forechecker on the team and I was hoping for a big year from him this season. I think he needs to be given a shot at playing center, his true position. Just think about how much ice he would cover at C... Prust - Bourni - Weise could play a regular shift imo. That being said, I think that there are a lot of similarities between Sekac and Bourni, with Sekac actually having more versatility and skill... at this stage, he slides easier into our top 6. And he is ridiculously fast too... Maybe even on par with Bournival. When it's all said and done, they are both competitive 22 years old and therefore they are both likely still developing. Hopefully they'll both get to play and max out their potential.

The only things we lost in the visit to Rexall last year was Prusty's fight with Gazdik. Two entirely different weight classes.

Gazdic would actually be the "ubergoon" in the east....and he's still young.
Lucy and Lurch can go ahead and threaten him any time they want to be tuned up. I bet Neil will forget his antics the minute there is someone around who can break him.
There is an Absolute Law about bullies...they are afraid of bigger bullies. It's written in bully DNA......
EDIT.....
Notice how Lucy tries to get the first shot.....and takes a couple of Gazdic rights to tune up his mug.
Note my ex-ubergoon love affair....Bordeleau....

Shouldn't take very much to get him out of Edmonton. We have had a lot of veteran leadership that might have helped their young guns find themselves.

If Sekac is getting first nod over Bournival then I hope its on a tight leash. Lots of guys like him look smooth out there with a good skill package but don't really put it all together in the form of tangible results. Eller is still wearing that tag until he proves otherwise. I'm happy with merit approach coming from Bergevin. Guys like Sekac can't just hang around and look good, they need to contribute. That's why I still think Bournival is a regular shift guy. Like Doc said, guys like that have to prove it every night but Bournival is downright disruptive on the forecheck and he balances out the skill of the other guys. I hope he doesn't get lost in the mix.

But I think the hope is that Sekac has top 6 potential, whereas I think most people believe Bournival will top out as a 3rd liner. Perhaps a very good third liner, don't get me wrong, but I would be surprised if he ever had a 20 goal season for example. Whereas I believe that the organization thinks Sekac can be a regular 20-25 goal guy. Now maybe they're wrong, maybe he's the next incarnation of Margnus Arvedsson. Which isn't bad really, considering we got him for free. But I think they're going to give him every chance to develop into that second liner they want him to be. And hey, if it doesn't work out Bournival and Sekac on a line together wouldn't be so bad either, right?
