Out-shot 18-1 in the third ... wanted to see how they'd finish and they just simply gave up ... good road trip overall, though ... Boston is up next ... our home-opener ... the Bruins have been losing and it would be nice to keep that going ...
Cheers.
Edit: After the fourth Tampa goal I thought le Club simply gave up ... Markov/Subban struggled all night ... Tampa's best players were better than our best players ... move on ... prep for the Bruins ... statement game ...

I don't know what it is, but every time a goalie messes up early a la Price on the first goal, it seems to set the tone.
TBay got all the confidence they needed. If there was any game so far in which we needed to score first....it was tonight.
Gotta fix that PP.
The Bolts have a very solid team with a game-breaking superstar up front...and with Bishop back...they're easily one of the favourites in the East.

Are we done with the heroics nonsense? I'm glad they got slapped around.
We better get our lunch buckets and fight from the get go.....or this is going to go wrong in a hurry. We are not the '75 habs with so much talent that we can cruise on sloppy starts.

I'm wondering if they might have had a 'team meeting' last night ... you know, plenty of sun and beer ... I don't know ... all that matters now is Boston ...
Cheers.

This is probably a good thing....
Brings everyone back to earth !
It will remind everyone that although this should be considered a successful road trip to open the season, we could VERY easily be 0-3-1 or maybe 0-4-0 !
The game starts at puck drop, not halfway thru the second or even the third....
Obviously, they will need to look at options on the PP and PK.
It will be good for the guys to be back home.
It's good that they don't play until Thursday. A few good practices will help.
A bit worried about Thursday. The nerves and jitters of the home opener in MTL. Hope the guys don't try and do too much to impress. The Bruins will be hungry...
It would be a big win....

Four games in six nights, all on the road, four different cities, two home openers. I haven't looked around, but I would have to guess that is one of the toughest, if not the toughest schedule of any team in the league. And they still got 6 of 8 points.
Ain't gonna complain about that.
They laid a stinker last night, but it was bound to happen. Let it go, prepare for the next game.
What they DO have to worry about though is the special teams. Both have been abysmal. That's something they have to get going.

Better last night than Thursday night!!
The team last night looked like it was out of gas before the game even started, they Played 3 hard games in a row on the road and managed to win all three. So, it's hard for me to complain, now if they lose Thursday night i might get a little upset.

Very tough road trip to start the season. Thrilled with six points. Not happy with last night's result, but glad it happened.
The Bs will be gunning to ruin our home opener on Thursday, the boys need to recharge, regroup and come out flying (from the start).

I know it's only 4 games in but it seems a little early to completely pack it in during a game. I could understand this if it was halfway through the season but not now.

Yes it was a good spanking. Not all that impressed with the lack of pride in the third. Is that a leadership question? Can't believe how many Habs haters are taking such joy in one off night out four on the road.
A lot of people had bad games and I can't think of anyone who played well. Didn't help that the Bolts didn't let up. Not sure I blame them given it's a home game and early in the season. But Stamkos didn't seem to miss a shift when it was 5-1 and was going all out and throwing his weight around (shoulder to Beau). At one point he went sliding into the end boards and could have broken a leg - all with a 4 or 5 goal lead in the third. As i say perhaps that's just competitiveness but it makes for bad karma if you ask me.
PK and Markov were horrible. Beau bad. Max is in one of his funks - back hand on breakaway - really? I think PA is one of those frustrating players to watch. Lots of skill and potential but only flashes it occasionally. Not as bad as Bourque but .. And what's with Carey - not a great GA. I know it's early but can't "Chill" forever.

Well, it was a successful road trip ... I had to remind myself of that ... I remember the "TSN Turning Point" for our club last year was a meltdown in Toronto ... too early to make comparisons like that, but you never know ... maybe it's a wake up call for Boston ... I'll be honest with you, jkr, I'm disappointed our club couldn't hold off Tampa like that ... I know, I'm wasn't on the ice and I don't know what the mood was like on the bench (Therrien looked supremely pissed) ... but still ... Cheers.

Can't believe how many Habs haters are taking such joy in one off night out four on the road. nah, they're just picking their spots. seem to forget that that loss followed 3 Ws (as ugly as they were). there will be good games when they are invisible, and bad games when they come out of the woodwork. jealousy, says I, jealousy.

Ottawa and Leaf fans on Facebook are all over it ... however, in general terms, Habs fans have been quite controlled about it ... most of them are quite happy with the road trip ... as I was saying to jkr, I'm a tad disappointed in the way they imploded but at the same time I don't know how much sun and beer they took advantage of by just being in Florida ... Cheers.

nah, they're just picking their spots. seem to forget that that loss followed 3 Ws (as ugly as they were). Ugly is the operative word here. We were to eager in translating those last minute wins as "talent", where in fact, it's more luck. We are not full value for those three wins. Sure, it's nice adn it shows some character, but let's call them by what they are.......ugly wins. I'm not worried, but we better get our act together.

That was a 4-1 game and a throwaway third period. It happens, especially in a 4th game in 6 nights on the road. And against a strong team like Tampa Bay. The Bolts kept pouring it on. Big deal on 7 GA. It happens.
The biggest concern is lack of focus. Not being ready to start a game, dismal special teams. Are we missing Gallant already?
On the bright side, the boys got some good bonding in to start the year with the 3 Ws.

Hey, let's look at the bright side, Tinordi is not the same Tinordi from preseason. Would like to see him throw his weight around a bit more but he seems to be a little less nervous with the puck.

Here's a similar joke reworked to the theme: A man finds a bottle on the beach…cleans it off….and out comes a genie. "I will grant you ONE wish. And no wishing for more wishes…"
The man thinks deeply and says, "I want world peace!"
The genie produces a map of the world with all the trouble spots highlighted, and says, "I cannot do that. The Middle East alone makes it impossible."
The man says, "Okay…um….I want the Leafs to finally win the Stanley Cup this season!"
The genie says, "Let me take another look at that map…"

The Habs look vulnerable to ANY team that puts in an effort. In this game and in periods of the earlier games they offered as much resistance as a corpse.

I'm still perplexed at Pacioretty's game re: lack of physical consistency. Some nights he just floats around, waiting for the play to come to him. Other times, he's banging in the corners and driving to the net.
I know you can't play with the same high level of intensity all the time....but his switch flips to coast-mode more often than it should.
