Price looking very sharp.
Nothing big to complain about...just our inability to clear the zone after Lundqvist was pulled. Also thought the Rangers got away with some blatant infractions.
A solid team win.
Leafs lose in regulation, Sens lose in OT.
Good night!

7-1 to start the season ... very well done ... don't know if I really liked that 3rd period ... too many icings ... Price was great at times ...
Cheers.

Boys looked good when they turned it on. But they had moments of just dumb play in their own end. Price was great and better than Lundquist.
Sometimes wonder about Emelin's decision making. BGal struggled. Can Bourque's IQ go lower?
Tough deciding to root for Leafs or Bruins. But just keep focusing on Leafs loss.

Still slow defensively, and far too many icings.

Definitely lost their legs in the third. Could be 'harder' in their own zone. 7-1 record without having played a perfect 60 minutes yet. I'll take it - especially when you look how slow out of the gate they were last year.

Still slow defensively, and far too many icings. Yes, one thing that concerns me is the relative speed of our defensemen. Markov is not fast, while Weaver, PK, Gilbert and Emelin are all average or slightly below. Remember, this is pure speed I'm talking about, not agility or strength or sideways movement. Just top end speed...a foot race on a breakaway type of speed. Tinordi doesn't have quick acceleration but his long strides might actually make him the fastest of our dmen. Beaulieu would be fastest if he was in the line-up. Guys like Karlsson and Morgan Reilly are flat out fast, but they're not on our roster. If our forwards are backchecking well, you can mitigate that deficiency, but it may bite us down the road. I don't think many of our defense prospects are that quick, either. Beaulieu, as stated, and Mac Bennett is a great skater, but may not make the team for other reasons. Oh well, just worrying about things that may not matter. Not a bad position to be in. PS. How fast is Price?

Things going our way. No injuries, everybody healthy for a change. Price may finally get his Vezina this season? Waite turned him around. Duclair may been draft mistake. Looked poised with speed to burn. I remember him and Drouin had linemate in midget who better than him. If Duclair was mistake maybe he be good late round pick in draft? Galchenyuk scary with his compete level and skill, at only 20 he be a star for many years to come. Like to see Habs make blockbuster of trade, for a star winger, allowing Galchenyuk to move to center and Beaulieu regulr spot on blueline

The food in this restaurant is terrible... And such small portions too.
7-1. What can you say? You really can't ask for a much better start than this. Yes there are still warts, but every team has them. And not every team is seven and one. I also don't think it has been smoke and mirrors. We haven't been completely outclassed in my opinion. Outplayed for stretches yes. But not completely outclassed.
I don't know what else to say. This team looks good. Really good.

There isn't as much a sense of panic in adversity as in seasons past. They're not winning every battle, but they're trying. Still, it's early and there are a ton of games left to go.

I think it's a good topic for discussion, actually ... Kirk Muller was in the last few years of his career when he told a friend of mine that, for him, the game had become a game of angles ... whether he didn't have the speed he used to, or if other players were simply faster, he learned how to use angles to compensate for his loss in speed ... it's smart hockey but the teams are getting younger and faster every year and our starting defence corps does have a few veterans on it and, sometimes, they tend to run around a bit ... Ideally, he should be our best skater ... Cheers.

They gave up once and that was against Tampa Bay, but other than that I like what's going on ... I was expecting more out of Beaulieu, given all the hype, but he'll be back eventually ... I was hoping to see Sekac a bit more but Weise has been playing like he wants to stay in the lineup ... good on him ... what can you say about Price ...

The team looks more composed, but more than that, I'm more composed. For example, the upcoming trip to Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. I expect to win all 3 games. Maybe we won't, but I'll expect it. I know we have the ability to up the tempo on teams and either wear them down rolling 4 complete lines and 3 defence pairings, or outskill them. We haven't scored our highlight reel goals because we're lucky. Then, if all else fails, there's always Carey Price. I also expect us to win at least half our games against the 'elite' western teams. Yes, our blood pressure numbers should be lower this year.

I feel a lot more comfortable with our team going into OTs or SOs this year ... mind you the season is still young, but we've got a very talented team ... I haven't dropped my expectations one bit ... I used to remember the Habs going west and sweeping their western swing opponents ... I'm not saying this will happen but, like you, I'm a lot more comfortable with these road trips than I have been in quite a while ... would be nice to let the west know there's a new eastern kid on the block ... Cheers.

There is an Ancient Greek saying about hockey.....the absence of foolish moves makes for a better coach.
I can honest say that the guy behind the bench has learned not to sit back with a lead, not that we had many in most games, and he has learned not to punish anyone grossly for their mistakes.
For crying out loud, he's going to make me eat crow...but not yet.....

The food in this restaurant is terrible... And such small portions too. Repeat after me... McDonalds is not a Restaurant..... The team looks more composed, but more than that, I'm more composed. How are you composed? For example, do you put your left foot forward, lean against a post and murmur sweet nothing to the either? Or do you throw your hair back (do you have any?), squint like Eastwood and take the tough she man look? Or simply take The Thinker position naked more often the usual at the local public park? Just wondering......
