On Antichambre PJ Stock says Rene Bourque should be benched and asks why is DD still the #1 centre? Wow if a buffoon like Stock can figure this out, why can't the Habs coaching staff.

In our 4 regulation losses, we've been outscored 21-3.
When we lose….we lose.
Gionta and Gorges will be pumped for tonight.
And, for some reason, the Sabres are never a pushover for us.

Game Preview (from eotp)Going into last night's game against Chicago, I suggested that the Habs were in trouble. Now, it looks like they're even worse. The Canadiens suffered a 5-0 shutout loss last night, and somehow, that qualifies as their third most troubling result of the season. Montreal put up a fight early in the game, but Chicago took over and would not relent, dealing the Habs a third consecutive loss. The Canadiens were downtrodden. Now, they're embarrassed. Thankfully, if the Habs are looking for a turn-around, they've come to the right place. Tale of the Tape 2014-11-05 TofT BUF How to Watch Time: 7:30 PM ET In Canada: Sportsnet Ontario, East, West, and Pacific In the Habs' Region: RDS In Buffalo: MSG-B Elsewhere: NHL Gamcenter Live or NHL Center Ice Know Your Enemy Buffalo Sabres blog Die By The Blade The Sabres set out to make some changes this off-season. They dealt a draft pick for the Canadiens steady defender, Josh Gorges. They liquidated a few PegulaBucks and signed Brian Gionta, an aging but useful player, to be their captain. Promising young defenders Rasmus Ristolainen and Nikita Zadorov are getting their NHL shot. Sadly, the early returns have been more of the same. The Sabres have been outscored 2.7-1, on average. Their possession play is prodigiously bad, and puts them on pace for what would be the worst Fenwick close mark since the NHL began to record all shot attempts for the 2005-06 season. Michal Neuvirth, the likely starting keeper, has actually kept his head above water in his five games this season, and that feat just couldn't be further from mattering. The Canadiens need a win. The event staff at the First Niagara Center have one ready for them. Last Time Out The Canadiens went 4 for 4 against the Sabres last season, dominating their basement-dwelling opposition game in and game out. Last time out was 2-0 shutout for Carey Price, a game which saw the second star earned by the now departed Thomas Vanek. The extent of the Habs success was much greater than the 35-24 shot count indicates, as the highlight video below looks like a Matt Hackett tryout tape. Save for a pretty Cody Hodgson dangle, the film is almost exclusively Hackett stymying the Habs, relenting only when Max Pacioretty managed to bounce a puck off him and in for his 100th NHL goal. The best comes last however, as Daniel Briere has left his fans in Montreal a little parting gift. Caught live and in the wild, Briere gives us a genuine Montreal Canadiens powerplay goal, something that fans could be forgiven for considering extinct as well. Beating the Buffalo Sabres proves nothing, unfortunately, but sometimes, one needs a confidence boost. The Sabres are the type of team that can make their opponent feel like maybe everything will be all right. A team in need of a pick-me-up, the Habs would be wise to take advantage.

I expect a big loss tonight. The score should have been way worse than 5-0 last night if not for Carey. I hope Toker does well but I have a feeling he will be facing a lot of shots. I will laugh if the Sabres score first.

What Tony Marinaro would do for tonight's game. Take it as the opportunity to shake it up bigtime.
Eller's got 2 goals and he's -9. Sit him. Bring in Sekac.
Rene Bourque. -9. Sit him….bring in Christian Thomas.
Sit Weaver…bring in Tinordi.
Put Galchenyuk with Pacioretty and Gallagher.
Put Desharnais with Prust and Bournival…or Weise.

Weiss on the first line for more than a shift is ridiculous. Bourque is ridiculous. Eller having to play with Bourque is ridiculous (I wouldn't sit Eller until I give him a chance away from Bourque). etc etc etc the coach needs to coach not just tell people -- the same lines almost always -- when it is time to rotate onto the ice. sigh -- I think most of us could just cut and paste comments from the past five years 'cause not much has changed.

I don't understand why Beaulieu has to sit (and probably neither does he) in order to keep on playing as a regular a veteran depth dmen like Weaver...
...but hey, Bourque and Moen... it's a start...

Yo le Doc ... where have you been mon ami ... I'd put the GEG line back together and put Sekac on with Plekanec and Pacioretty on second-line duty ... but hey, there's a reason I'm not an NHL coach ... go figure ... Cheers.

Seeing as it's against Buffalo…I say let the kids run!
Gallagher-Galchenyuk-Pacioretty Bournival-Plekanec-Sekac Weise-Desharnais-Parenteau Eller-Malholtra-Prust
IMO…DD needs to be re-assigned permanently, and Eller needs a wake-up call.
If we want Pacioretty to start scoring goals…why not give him the only playmaking centre with size in our lineup?

you finally get Eller away from Bourque and you give him even more pluggers? I'm not saying put him on the first line or anything, but put someone with him who can put the puck in the net

Limited puck/hockey sense this season so far. But sure…switch him with Weise in my line-up…I'd be okay with that. Moot anyway….as Weise remains on the first line with DD and Max. Ugh…if they can't break through that Buffalo D….

The good news is that Tinordi, Sekac and Bournival are all in tonight, but if the vets/young leaders don't show up, the kids cannot make enough of a difference. Given MT's incredibly short leash with kids, how long will they stay in the lineup if the team lays another stinker tonight?

Part of me wants to see us lose this game by a touchdown. It may not end the MTclown act but it sure will scalp it clean.
If MB can't see the total failure of coaching a decent powerplay with Subban and Markov quarterbacking, then he's an idiot.

And Moen, and Prust...I don't get it either. ...they want a guy who plays a simple game, forechecks hard, hits, work the corners, go in front of the net, create havoc there... choices are very limited... I guess they are trying to see if Weise can grow into a Clarkson/Clowe type of player...

WHAT? Bourque and Moen out - Sekac, Bournival and Tinordi in.
oh! - my heart - MY HEART - can someone please call 666 before I suffer a case of euphoria.
Any chance of that KLH team (AK Bars?) move to secure Sekac's rights had any influence of Meathead's decision to insert Sekac, specifically at this point in time?

I think Bournival is more of that type of player with a bit more skill than Weise, but he hasn't played right wing. Personally, I think this is our best line-up so far this year to start a game. Both Sekac and Bournival are defensively responsible, even more than Bourque and Moen as a pair, but there's a huge difference in offensive upside. Bourque and Moen don't scare anyone on any defense in the NHL. I suspect Sekac and Bournival will generate more fear. Defensively, I just want someone who will stay in their place and move the puck out smartly. Tinordi has done that. I want to get Beaulieu into games as well, but I'd be working hard with him on recognition of defensive situations and where to go in those situations. C'mon Daigneault, that's what you're paid to do. Beaulieu needs no work on his offense.
So we have a decent line-up. I'll be watching to see how much ice time the new guys get. Therrien has a habit of putting players in a position to fail and then using that failure to thwart his critics. Let's hope he's fair with the additions.
