Sow's ear, huh? I agree. It's not going to happen.

So we have a decent line-up. I'll be watching to see how much ice time the new guys get. Therrien has a habit of putting players in a position to fail and then using that failure to thwart his critics. Let's hope he's fair with the additions. I hope he is fair but i won't count on it. I will be wstching to see if he puts them in a position to succeed or if they get 8 minutes a game.

And Moen, and Prust...I don't get it either. ...they want a guy who plays a simple game, forechecks hard, hits, work the corners, go in front of the net, create havoc there... choices are very limited... I guess they are trying to see if Weise can grow into a Clarkson/Clowe type of player... It's a good point, Doc ... makes me wonder where rough part to Pacioretty's game has gone ... he's got the size, the speed and the talent ... I could be wrong, but I think that part of his game hasn't been the same since the Chara hit ... I guess Therrien doesn't have much to lose, anyway ... Cheers.

I think Weise is the best candidate we have for such an experiment. He seems to really want to be that type of player. Very evident during last year's playoffs.

MT made moves last year that had everybody scratching their heads but for some unexplained reason it worked out....why they don't have the best players playing with the best players and the young players being incorporated more often is beyond me.
MT with a big 4 yr contract in hand now has carte' blanche to keep the few remaining vets he so covets in the lineup.
MB tempered every ones excitement and rightly so this team is good not that good so why not go all in...the proof is in the pudding the vets MT so covets bring something every ten games or so Bourque, Weaver, Moen, Weisse, add Gilbert and even DD they can not be leaned on...pass the whole damn torch playoffs or not. Holding back the future with 3rd class players makes no sense. This team is going to take a step back regardless the overall talent is not quite there, playing all the kids more often won't cost them a spot IMO.
Tinordi,Beaulieau,Sekaj,Bournival need to all be in the lineup together at the same more often than our overpaid part timers....regardless the result it provides the greatest upside long term until something better via draft or trade comes along.

Gorges and Gionta will have money on the board. Guaranteed. Expect the best possible effort from the Sabres.

Couldn't make it tonight but hope my great nephew and god son gets to see a Hab win at his first game in Buffalo tonight.
I have a bad feeling (I shouldn't) but man if they lose this one the heat will be ramped up to a fever pitch despite the start.
They definitely put points in the bank despite the smoke and mirrors, the schedule was damn tough and I was pretty worried, thought .500 for Oct. would be a good record.
Guess its better to have these bumps that all teams have sooner than later, but there is a little cause for concern.
Lets go boys I need a good night sleep.

Just heard Jim Hughson on Bob McKeown's show and they talked about Calgary, since Hughson had done the Habs/Flames game. He felt that the Habs didn't take Calgary seriously. As he put it, when you come to the rink and you can't tell the difference between your opponent's 1st line and 4th line, it's easy to disrespect them. That was always a possibility, but I don't think so. They didn't take Chicago lightly and played the same kind of game. Lets hope they're able to relax and pot some goals today.

Just heard Pacioretty, pre-game, re: being concerned about the slide.
"Not at all....the best part is we're playing tonight after a sloppy game last night. We have a chance now to redeem ourselves...we gotta do it."
Actions speak much louder. We shall see.

This game is huge, strange to say that against the Sabres in their current incarnation, but if we lose this it would speak volumes about where this team really is psychologically speaking.
This team is full of character, so I fully expect a victory and some kind of statement tonight.
Go Habs!!

Parenteau-DD-Pacioretty.
Galchenyuk-Pleks-Gallagher
Bournival-Eller-Sekac
Weise-Malholtra-Prust
Eller must be pinching himself.

More short passes from the d to forwards. Please shoot it. Sekac has put on more pressure in one shift than Bourque did in 12 games.

What? The stick didn't break!
I've seen that happen to at least two Habs this season...with no call on the opposition.
Somebody's missing a ref's meeting.
What a joke.

Don't get me started on the referees, the officiating has been just awful this season so far.. That said boys now to the PP themselves, sure would be nice to get one.

They have absolutely no confidence in their powerplay.. I'm thinking all it will take is a goal or 2 and they'll find the groove. It's depressing watching it flounder like this.

We're making Buffalo look good.
15 minutes in and a PP....and we have 5 shots.
So does Buffalo.....and we're back to the PK.

Buffalo has outshot us 6-0 after we were up 5-2.
Bournival gone to the dressing room with an apparent shoulder injury.
Make that outshot 7-0.

I'm glad Sportsnet has gone to standing up on fake ice during the intermission.
Seeing pants and shoes subliminally improves our perception of their analysis.
