Ah, the ebb and flow of a hockey game.
After 3 PP goals, we withstood a lapse...either self or ref-inflicted...and got the job done.
The weak Weise 5-3 goal broke the Flyers' comeback spirit.
5th consecutive W.
Leafs lose 6-2 to the Sabres.
Great night!
On to Motown!

That penalty on Gallagher was a crock. Thorburn pins Gally's left arm against him and gets a terribly weak call. That should have iced it.
Great to see the PP get going. Regarding Gonchar, something I was saying to myself as I've watched the last two games and before he set up PAP, he gets pucks to the net. Repeatedly. He has a hard shot, but he's more concerned with getting pucks to the net for tips, rebounds, etc. That's a good change up from Subban.
Quiet night from Eller's line.

I just watched a replay of the fleas 3rd goal and the ref is still looking at the pile of players on the ice when Read carries the puck out front and scores.

If they don't know where the puck is they blow the whistle. Duh! It's as if they gave the Flyers every chance to stay in the game. These guys ( I hesitate to call them referees) should be grilled after games like the players are. And sent to minors after performances like that.

Gonchar still has something in the tank. Pretty bright hockey IQ. Not sure we can play him 20 mins every game. Not sure MT can manage this well.
Gutsy win. Nice to see the PP momentum of late convert to goals tonight.

Just saw the highlights. Some really good puck movement led to some pretty finishes. Alas, that is not as much a credit to our guys as it is a criticism of Philly's defense. They have not been good. Not that I"m complaining. 3 powerplay goals? We definitely needed that to start working.

The boys are converting the PP opportunities into momentum for the first time this season. Full marks to the GM for shaking things up...the coaching staff, not so much.

Nice to see the PP momentum of late convert to goals tonight. I'm sure Therrien shouldn't play him 20 minutes a game but Gonchar served as Viagra for the PP in his debut.

Weise and Parenteau are both scoring ... hope Prust is alright ... good game by DD ... needed to win that one ... Detroit doesn't have too many holes ... tough game tomorrow night ...
Cheers.

What I've noticed, and I might be talking out my other end now, is that with Gonchar on the ice during the PP the Defense is passing the puck down low more to the half boards, and that has been opening Pacioretty in the slot and the defense get more room to shoot. Also, Gonchar and Markov do not wide up to shoot, they just get it off quickly.

Boys on a good run keep the bad stretches to a min and they will be in the mix for top spot...don't care to much what the Leafs do but just saw the highlights, man Phaneuf is a $7 million train wreck.
As poor as PK has started he's worth $14 mill in comparison.
Any word on who starts in goal tonight?

I thought a big problem with the PP started with PK (Subban). The last couple of years a lot of success had to do with his shot from the point but teams have been playing him close and he is often not getting the puck or has to dish it off because there is no shot. The second unit has never been much a threat but now with Gonchar teams can't just focus on one guy and that works in our favour.

Gonchar's like a proficient, aging drummer who gets picked up by a younger up-and-coming band because they know he still has the chops...and he gets energized by it.
I like the way he's playing right now. Seeing a big slice of ice...finessing those wristers on net.
Last night on the TSN690 post-game: Coincidence or direct result....the Habs are something like 10-1-0 when Sekac has been in the lineup.
I believe I also heard the correct pronunciation of his surname last night. SAY-kahtch.
I'd heard SEE-kahtch many times prior.
