Can't question his heart/commitment. That's Rene Bourque type money.

I'd imagine we'll see a similar contract for Galchenyuk.

Maybe he'll show some gratitude by potting a few tonight ...
Cheers.

It is really. As easy as it is to reach performance bonuses on ELC's, he's likely not been far off that amount in actual pay. Had they gone a bridge deal route with him, they might have got him for a little less, but he'll be 29 when the contract is done. This deal buys them two of his UFA years at a good price.

Very happy with this! If you're not going to reward a guy like this then what does it say about work ethic and attitude. It is a very easy cap hit for a top 6 forward who can play anywhere, particularly in the opponents crease

So we play hardball with Subban to set the precedent for bridge deals, then we don't get Gallagher to sign a bridge deal ?

This contract isn't breaking the bank. Odds are Gallagher's camp wanted around 4 million and MB went for as long a contract as he could get at that price,

Seems fair to both sides. As much as I admire Subbans skills, I think we overpaid, not a fair deal.

According to Lebrun, the contract breaks down like this:
Gallagher deal year by year: $5.5M, $4.5M, $2.75M, $3M, $4M (SB of $1.5M) and $2.75M (SB of $1.75M – potential lockout season)

Good deal, I've always looked at deals as a portion of the cap. 20 guys or so, roughly 3.5 per @ a 70 mil cap. Gally is well above average, his contract isn't.

Keep in mind that this is a guy who will be wearing a letter well before the contract expires.
