Back-to-back road Ws....and not playing our top-end game.
Let's take it....and prepare for the next game.
Toker and Luongo both with strong performances.
Toker with a nice glove save to seal Parenteau's winner.
I believe it's PAP's 3rd SO winner. Maybe his 4th?
========================
Now we can relax a bit and ring in the New Year watching Canada beat the U.S.
Oh....and later....the Bruins pound the Leafs (in the background, with volume off, of course.)

Good effort after playing last night. The panthers are a good team.

I didn't like the rope-a-dope strategy in the 3rd ... that tying goal caught me off guard ... where did that come from ... thought the game was in the bag then I heard the serenading ... too early, too c*cky ... Tokarski solidifies our goaltending ... great game ... Subban with 24:05 TOI ... tops on the team ... with a few exceptions, TOI for the top three lines was pretty close ... Therrien is rolling his first three lines pretty well ... 4th line got 4th-line minutes ... Beaulieu did well tonight ...
Cheers.

Good effort after playing last night. The panthers are a good team. They've got some young talent. Top draft choices for a few years will do that for you - unless you're the Oil. Bugstad is going to be a handful if he isn't already. Thought we played better tonight than last. A pretty good shut down period in the third until the goal. Anyone know why DD would be out with 2 mins to go? He's not strong defensively at the best of times and he's just learning to play the wing And we have all sorts of strong defensive wingers to play at that point. MT being MT? Liked Toker's celebration at the end. Shows some spunk! Big question: PK and Weise have been doing this X with their arms folded to celebrate their goals. PK did it to Toker while they were leaving the ice tonight. Anyone know where that comes from and what it means?

PK and a very good game defensively although he mis anticipated the shoot around on the tying goal. Beau has played real well for the last 3 or 4 games and is now in the top 4. Very nice to see. Emelin is a hazard out there. Not so nice to see. We need Tinordi to take the step Beau has.

"The Battle of Toker-Lu" ... love it! ... sounds like a Classic Comic ... what an acquisition by Bergevin ... we're going to need that kind of goaltending moving forward ... it all starts in goal ...
Cheers.

Yes... tinner is a better skater, a big hitter, can fight and has a good shot... the kid needs MT to think of him as a veteran so he can learn from his mistakes.

I can't recall what he said, but I think it was something about x-ing out all the negativity (or was that Dez Bryant's explanation?)

Look at that Panther lineup, loaded with recent first rounders! Look at their place in the standings! They're definitely not the Hurricanes,

It was a decent up-tempo game. Great goaltending from both sides. Noticed Pacioretty electing to pass more often than he ever used to in these last few games. He had Lu at his mercy at one point where he probably could have roofed it and instead went for the cross-crease tap-in through traffic that got broken up.
Was Malhotra a healthy scratch in this one or is he hurt? What about Weaver, still hurt or a healthy scratch now? It would be nice to see Weaver/Allen/Emelin all sitting with Tinordi playing but great to see Beaulieu cementing his spot. Baby steps.

They're definitely not the Hurricanes, 16-9-9 ... they have a well-coached team in Florida ... a good balance of youth and experience ... and Luongo's happy again ... doesn't hurt ... Cheers.

Just noticed that our team has given up only 86 goals ... that ties them for lowest in the conference with Pittsburgh ... Rangers have allowed 87 and the Panthers 88 ... Cheers.

Emelin has regressed or never regained his potential since his injury. As has been said, tinordi is tougher and bigger than Emelin. Emelin has become a turnover machine and i'm never at ease with him out there. He has a low hockey IQ. Not saying cut him lose but no longer top 4. Except that we need some size and meanness in there. Emelin was great in playoffs especially against the Bs and Lucic. But at this point it's time to give Tinordi a chance. To think that Tinordi now may be behind Allen bothers me.

Just saw the highlights. I disagree that Gallagher's goal was lucky. He deliberately waited until the d-man was in the way and drew it in with that quick wrister to make it hard for Luongo to follow it. That was a goal scorer's goal, not luck. One on three and he puts it in. Great goal. They didn't play back enough of the Florida goal to tell what happened. You'd have to roll it back further to find out what happened with the communication between the forwards and defense. Someone misread the play and two guys had to be checking one Panther. The Pleks/Weise/DD line was out there. Two of out 3 with decent defensive awareness, but I'd be cutting down the ice time of any forwards I didn't trust defensively, in the last couple of minutes. Tough to do sometimes and easier to play the line, especially if they've been ok during the rest of the game. Can't comment on that. Was that line hemmed in at all, or did it give up some good chances earlier?
