Just watching the CBC pre-game show and it was announced Price was selected but Subban was not.

PK has 27 points & is a +9. 9th among league D men. Seems to be playing a better, quieter all around game.
I don't see many other teams but I would think he's better than Justin Faulk & Brett Burns. Oh well. I guess he can use the time to rest.

You would think the nhl would really want him there. For a whole lot of reasons.

What has he done to deserve a selection? We've complained he hasn't earned his money all year.

Great save by Price after the 3 foot pass was intercepted

What has he done to deserve a selection? We've complained he hasn't earned his money all year. Agree. You don't get selected just because you have a $9 million salary. His offence has been mediocre this year. His defence has been better but teams don't pay $9 million for good defence nor do dmen get selected to All-star games for good defence. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for PK. A most unimpressive season so far!

It hasn't been a banner year for sure. Max should be there though.

They're are well over 15 forwards in our conference that are better than him and i would trade him for in a heart beat. He's our best forward so he gets prime minutes but does a so so job.

FRankly, who gives a S__t about the all star game or selctions? Not me. Its pathetic when you allow a bunch of morons with itchy trigger fingers to select the starting line-up. Five Hawks and Zembus Girgensons. Yup.
At least that was the 'score' a few days ago, from what I read when looking at something totally different. It may be different today, but I don't have enough curiousity about the all-star game to even bother looking it up. Funny, I used to like the game but that's when they scored 5 goals max, not dozens. Dating myself, since its been a long time since the all star game had any kind of a regular score.

I'm more miffed that Sekac didn't get selected to the rookie game I hadn't heard that, which, again, confirms everything I feel about the all star game. I want Bergevin to get us those missing pieces that take us all the way, so we can give all the Hab haters one more Cup to hate us for.

I really could care less on this ... I'm not dissing the thread, but while there isn't any negative press to speak of on Subban right now (nor has there been any in quite a while), the media damage that was done earlier in his career still resonates today ... the tag All-Star used to mean something when we saw the game's best players being selected, but nowadays it's more of a popularity contest and this is where I find it may hurt Subban ... I used to like watching the All-Star Game back in day but I really have no time for it now ... the Skills Competition is a good one to watch but I always forget when it's on and I get over missing it pretty quickly ...
Cheers.

I'm more miffed that Sekac didn't get selected to the rookie game Some of that fault would lie with MT for his usage of Sekac, no? The guy has skill to burn…but you have to put him in the best positions to succeed. Our PP isn't working….but MT sticks with the usual. Sekac got 1 second of PP time last night vs. the Penguins. 1 second! A guy with his size, moves and vision should be groomed to be a PP specialist, IMO.

Since 2011, only 5 players have scored more goals than Max. League wide. We all know the weekend is a farce, but it should be a farce full of offensive weaponry. There are three Columbus Blue Jackets going, but one Hab? That simply is wrong.

Don't deny it's a farce. The heavy Columbus contingent may have something to do with the fact they're hosting. As i recall when Mtl hosted we had 5 players including Komisaruk - now that's a farce.

I wouldn't be surprised if they ask PK to be a guest host/media like he did at the NHL awards

If we're talking about "merit" then Subban definitely deserves to be in the game. Especially coming from the Eastern Conference. Consider his place statistically amongst Eastern Conference NHL defensemen:
* Points: 4th * Goals: 1st * PPG: 3rd * Game winning goals: 1st * Ice time: 2nd
I haven't looked at the Advanced Stats, but I would bet that if you did he'd be right up there for Eastern Conference defensemen too. He hasn't been as flashy has he has been in the past (no Subby-do's), but he has, in my opinion, been playing the best all-around hockey of his career. He's on pace for his highest point totals, his most ice time, certainly his most short-handed ice-time and he's been used in all situations. No doubt in my mind he's one of the best Eastern Conference defensemen, and probably top ten in the league.

Mike Komisarek just retired last week and I only saw it when I went Googling info for a game thread ... normally my searching methods aren't too bad, but I've looked on Sportsnet and TSN, and I can't find the story anywhere ... his career went downward really fast just as soon as he hit Toronto ... they touted him like the Second Coming and he never lived up to that billing ... he's only 32 years old and after 551 regular-season games he's done ... I can't find it anywhere except (HF Boards, ugh!!) Wikipedia ... didn't think he deserved the AS position but that wasn't his doing ... nor was his selection by Brian Burke to 2010-11 Team USA (WC) ... man, he dropped fast ... good luck to him ... Cheers.

Jiri Sekac headed to the All-Star Game Tuesday, 13.01.2015 / 4:39 PMThe Canadiens will have a second representative at the 2015 NHL All-Star Game on January 24 and 25 in Columbus, Ohio. After Carey Price was named an All-Star last Saturday night, it was Jiri Sekac’s turn to get his invitation on Tuesday afternoon. The Czech forward will take part in the event as a rookie, replacing Los Angeles Kings young gun Tanner Pearson. Sekac will participate in the Skills Competition. He has seven goals and 15 points in 34 games this season. Canadiens.com

From 16 teams, the East has only ONE representative on D.
Justin Faulk of the Carolottery Hurricanes.
Seems a bit odd.

I think this is great. We have two guys having to go to Columbus, one in a skills competition, which is easy enough and the other in goal for a period, which won't bother him either. The rest of the team can get a good rest (even if they're in a very quiet part of the schedule) and get caught up on those family things that are part of players' lives and get neglected occasionally. A happy wife, significant other, etc...... This can also be used as an incentive by Therrien later in the year. Disrespect by the establishment, blah, blah.
I wish we had no one going, frankly.

PK is having an off year no doubt but if you ask me the beat down he has gone under from this coaching staff must be a difficult one. PK is an entertainer in ore ways than one but I think the Habs have curbed his creativity a bit too much. No doubt PK needed to find a slightly less risky game but now he rarely does any of the things that made him special. If you ask me he more than made up for his mistakes when he was allowed to go...now he is like a beaten dog when he has a few gaffes.
All this aside PK should be at the All Star game isn't this farce of a game more about promotion and selling and whom more than PK is a marketers dream...PK should be front and centre stats aside...think the NHL is still missing the boat when it comes to promoting the game and its stars.
