Have to laugh at E. Giacomin and J. Plante with their pads. I'm thinking there might be a few more goals scored in today's game if the goalie pads were the same size. And what about Jacques five-hole? I remember Patrick Roy supporting new pad specs for goaltenders ... he said they should go back to the original dimensions ... I guess it would make it harder to break a few of his records ... Cheers.

It might make it more difficult to break his records, but who cares? Why should the pads be larger? Better padded, sure, no one wants goalies getting hurt, but no doubt they're lighter than they used to be with improved materials with which to fashion them. Ilike smaller everything in goal or maybe bigger goals. Scoring is down and I'd like it bumped a bit. Let's have a height restriction for goalies. Over 6 feet and you're out!

Dreger was talking on TSN broadcast last night about the league's thoughts after the 2015 all star weekend. He said the league will likely be taking a strong look at the whole event, from roster draft through the effort players put forth during the game itself. It's pretty clear the event needs an overhaul.
I would still like to see some variation of Rendez-vous 87. Pick an NHL select team. Pit it against a Euro league champion from the previous season. Be it KHL, Swedish, Finn, whatever. Or, pit them against the previous years' senior world men's champion. Replace the skills competition with the Cherry vs Orr game. They could even look at an exhibition game between the women's national teams of Canada and the USA. You know for certain that in both of those games the players will leave all they have on the ice.
