The Habs get criticized for adding Brian Engblom to the trade but end up trading a future Norris winner Rod Langway ... but Rick Green and Ryan Walter end up being key components in the '86 Cup run ... a decent trade off? ...
Cheers.

Cheers. I would say yes although at the time I felt it was too much. PS: Just looking at the picture of Ovechkin. What's the point of putting him in an expensive suit. He needs a haircut, a shave and a dental implant.

I remember Larry Robinson saying on TV that he didn't agree with the trade ... the thing I thought of while putting this up was, Green and Walter were key contributors to the '86 Cup Run ... Langway may have a Vezina but he never won a Cup ... Engbloom had a decent career, as did Jarvis ... Craig Laughlin played 549 games in the NHL ... I don't think any of the four that went to the Caps ever won a Cup so it worked out ... I don't know if that's what Irving Grundman had in mind when he made the deal but he got back a No.1 overall pick in Green and a No.2 overall pick in Walter ... worked out for him anyway ... Cheers.

We always play like crap in these early games. I don't expect anything different. Price better be on his game.
(This recording will self destruct in 1 mimnute).

I'm trying to figure out who the Habs player behind Guy is in the SI cover. Does't look to keen to jump into the play, or does he know Guy won't need his help Those were the days!

The cover date is February 7, 1977…..looking at the stature, left shot, hairstyle...I'd have to say that's Serge Savard.

Crappy PP so far. So so start to the game. We gave up a breakaway to Beagle early, who beatbPrice but Markov saved a goal with a great stick check.

Bournival getting a penalty for boarding. It was marginal as he let up but hard not to call it.

You can sure see how much more disciplined the Caps are under Trotz. Good scrum in the corner. Both teams seem to feel this is a statement game. Good kill for the Habs. Coincidental minors coming out of the scum. Bournival again.

Good effort from the boys but the fact remains the Caps have had 4 gilt edged chances and we've had none. Four chances where CArey has been outstanding. I hope the pressure is mounting on Holtby.

Yep….Price….again.
Usually gives us many chances to win every game.

First period over. I liked that period except for scoring chances where we gave up too many really good chances.

I've watched some Caps games over the last couple of weeks. I know they are much more successful than last year but they are hard to watch. Too "Devils" like for me.

Eller really needs to start contributing points. One assist in all of January. Right now I don't care that much if his advanced stats are good. He needs to score.

We're going to have to find another gear….the Caps are controlling most of the areas on the ice.
I don't see this one ending well….unless, of course, Price steals it.

Wilson with a late hit on Pleks. Pleks finishes a check on Wilson and both get penalties. Wilson really should get the extra.

Good for Pleks. I'll take that penalty for a little nastiness.

MT giving DD lots of chances on the 4 on 4's. No results.

Finally Holtby had to make a good save on Patches. I can't help wondering if the League has moved up just enough to make DD ineffective. He is producing nothing.

The Habs have had ONE great scoring chance this entire game.
That's unacceptable.
EDIT: Price with three more great saves….
Quality chances must be 10-1 Caps now.
Sure call Emelin on a crosscheck….but Gallagher's free game at the other end.
