Solid effort from everybody....
Vindication in the end for that "inconclusive my butt" no goal....and some questionable officiating on those penalties to Subban.
Take it and move on!
Well done, team!

Nice jacket worn by PK. PK is a cowboys fan... I love it

Beaulieu with a huge game tonight ... best I've seen him all year ... Prust, Eller, Sekac very strong games ... Gallagher was tough on the puck all night ... Subban, Markov playing very well together ... Price was good and he had some luck, but that's part of the game too ... Washington up next ...
Cheers.

Not much to say, a hard-fought game by all. No passengers tonight.
Sometimes it feels like Beaulieu is carrying Gonchar.
Glad the goal wasn't on a PP either way, the refs were having a rough night and I hate it when an iffy call decides the game. I got the feeling the refs let too much go early on, tried to tighten ship but did it clumsily, and then clumsily let just about anything go at the end.

Boys played well. A little too lose the last 10 minutes with Rags getting lots of opportunities. Rags are big and fast and like to hit. Don't think they have the skill we do. They rely on Lundquist more than we do on Price.
Thought Eller had a monster game and should have been a star. Max gets the star due to a flukey goal but otherwise did nothing all night. What's really starting to bug me is his lazy glides to the bench when changing on the fly. He cost us 2 minutes against Dallas and almost again tonight. Must be nice to have the midas touch and not have to do anything all game.
Refs were a joke. No other player in the league is getting called like PK. Still haven't seen anything worthy of "embellishment" nor "unsportsman". Kreider should have definitely got the extra 2.
What bothers me even more is that no one was there to stick up for PK. Is there another superstar on any team that would have to put up with that crap from Krieder. Prust should have gone with Krieder; not their 3 minute TOI guy Glass. After that there is Wiese and then no one. Both are middleweights. So Krieder can run our all-world goalie and rumble with our superstar and the only response is from our superstar? Don't like our chances over the long haul. We need Tinordi!

Just watched some highlights, though obviously that doesn't give you a flavour for the whole game. I have to agree on the call on PK when Kreider 'challenged' him. He made no attempt at all to fight and still gets a penalty. Either let them both go or call one on Kreider alone. It was a dumb call(s). And Weises goal, in real time, looked good to me. Sometimes I wonder if their freeze frames aren't frequent enough and they get a shot in between the ones they should have which shows the true situation. That's especially true when a goalie's pad is involved. They can't seem to get that right. Having said that, a goal scorer would have put it upstairs and there'd be no doubt. Even though Weise seems to get a lot of assists on Pacioretty goals, I don't like him on that line. It's a different pay class and he doesn't belong there for anything other than a short period.
I didn't think Patches goal was all that lucky. He fooled Lundquist. He waited till McDonagh screened him a bit, had no wind-up at all to the shot and had the puck in a position where it looked like he was waiting to pass it, not shoot. Lundquist just wasn't set for a shot and it showed. Good play by Max. I also found it funny that the assists went to Weise (who shouldn't be on that line) and Emelin (who's having nothing but trouble lately). #I'dratherbeluckythangoodTherrien.

After watching the highlight pack from nhl.com. I'm not sure how that goal was disallowed. The only reason you could tell was because the cameras aren't fast enough to go frame by frame. The only way that puck comes back out, off Henrik's toe, the way it did is if it's fully over the line.
In this day and age, there's no reason not to have cameras recessed and mounted on the bottom side of the crossbar. Run them off a battery pack kept in the net and send the signal wirelessly to NHL control. Simple.
I thought Max's shot was well placed. He used the defender as a screen and got off a good hard low wrist shot. Henrik tried to catch it with his body, after picking it up with his eyes. He he tries to catch it instead, maybe it doesn't go in. Regardless, it was a well placed shot.

They were saying on the Team 690 this morning something about how the cameras in the net are less than 30 frames per second, whereas they could go as high as 60. They brought up tennis, where they can tell right away whether a ball was on the line or not, but somehow hockey can't. I'm sure there are legitimate reasons that make it more difficult in hockey than tennis, but still. For a league that is starved for goals being able to tell when a puck crosses the line would seem to be a simply way to add a few more to the final total. (and that whole thing just gave me another idea for speeding up the game and increasing offense, without turning it into an All Star Game farce - thin the goal line!)

Some nervous moments on some Rangers odd man rushes, but overall a great game and great effort. Max was the only one who frustrated me, really. But he's our scorer so he will be let off the hook. Nonetheless, I wish he didn't think he was so much of a "specialist sniper" because he has so many more tools that he should be using.
PK's penalties were bogus. I laughed when he got the unsportsmanlike call - when the linesman tells him that he's getting a penalty you can see Subban yell "For what???", it looked like the linesman kinda shrugged and seemed pretty reluctant in giving him the ref's explanation.
I love Price's instinct with 2 seconds left in the third period - instead of freezing the puck, he threw it away high in the air. Didn't wanna see the Dallas episode replayed.

Felt sorry for PK....the second penalty was bogus, but he should have fought....if he wants to mouth off, he's gotta be able to back it up.

I thought the same as BC. The ball in tennis goes faster, and they can highlight that ball in crystal clarity within a millimetre of the line. But in hockey you get a blur of a puck, and because you can't distinguish that blur, you are not allowed to call it a goal?? If it wasn't the puck, the the NHL should be telling us what the hell it is.
I also hate the way the NHL uses their mice on the refs. Review was inconclusive, no goal. How about explaining why it was inconclusive??

NHL explanation: I told my colleague who is a video and audiophile, an NFL fan but not NHL, about the NHL using the over the net camera with a resolution of 240p and he laughed himself silly. He said why don't they just velcro a GoPro to the bottom of the crossbar... they'd be way better off.

I neglected to mention one fact that I really liked about Pacioretty's goal and it really had nothing to do with the goal itself. One of the really great things about Carey is that not only do we know he's the best goalie around, but everyone else does too, especially the goalies on the other teams. So when they come up against him, there's added pressure on them. They know they need to be at the top of their game. Every time they don't quite meet those expectations, the pressure the next time around ratchets up one more notch. So not only did King Henry succumb to the pressure, but it's more likely that he'll do that the next time they meet the Habs. It's one more little victory, but they add up, so that's a bonus I'll take any day in addition to the 2 points in regulation.

Henrik was visibly ticked leaving the ice. He gave his stick a good smash as he started his walk under the stands.

You know when the opposing teams media say Weise's disallowed goal should have counted, that there is an issue with the NHL. NY media

It was good to see the Habs actually try and get under Kreider's skin, though. Until last night, it didn't seem like they cared that Chris "The Innocent" Kreider had deliberately taken out Carey.

Love the game they played last night. I thought Patches was still our best forward.
Price 6 shutouts in last 12 games vs Rags.
Eller seems to be an anchor more than anything this year, he brings down his lineman. Last night was better but he needs to bring more!

I see Eller playing both ends of the ice pretty well ... like you said, that line had a great game in NY and I'm hoping Therrien keeps them together ... I'm really hoping Eller kicks it up a notch, though ... the team will need it as the playoffs near ... Cheers.
