Hopefully it will tone him down a bit. I find he doesn't flagrantly dive, but I'm biased. I notice that the Coyote who held Gilbert's stick and fooled the ref didn't get an embellishment penalty or fine. That's an area they could look at big time. Get rid of that crap from the game too.

The NHL is a joke. A guy chicken wings another player and they get 1 or 2 games suspension, if that. In the OHL they suspended a guy (repeat offender) 12 games for an elbow to the head. 12 game suspensionIt was a brutal elbow, if this one done by an NHL player, what would he get?

In watching the video it is indeed interesting how the Rangers' announcers calling the game and watching the replay call the shot to the back of PK by Kreider but never suggest for a minute that PK dove. In fact they believe if PK is in the box that he must have done something earlier. So unless the league now has a policy (which I'm not aware of) that all, and I mean all, dives/embellishment penalties warrant a fine as well as the 2 minutes, this is blatant targeting of PK by a lynch mob at NHL headquarters. And the game was almost a week ago. Too many haters with too much time on their hands!

No the policy is to screw the Habs in one form or another. Gallagher draws about 2 or 3 penalties a game, but rarely do the refs call them. Vermette holds Gilbert's stick, leans over and gets a call on Gilbert. Sometimes the refs are just not that good and they miss calls. Some of those against us, though, you have to wonder about. It was surprising a few games ago when they actually reversed the 'high stick' call caused by the puck hitting a player. Whether it's deliberate or just incompetence, there's a lot of crap that goes on. Chris Peel admitted as much in his "game management" comment. We've always said that. The refs are paid to keep the games close. that explains all the even up calls even when one team is dominating the other and naturally drawing penalties.

the policy on diving is a $2,000 fine for the second infraction. PK was called in the game; it was his second time; therefore a fine.
not singled out. bad call, though.

Why do I think the guys in the nhl offices were just dying to get him on the list?
He dove for sure, but I've seen much worse not even questioned. If you dislike someone, or some team it's just an ingrained bias. Surrounded by like minded people and it won't even be questioned.
I keep thinking of Pleks head snap last year. Sure got a lot of play didn't it? Everyone knows what I'm talking about too. Pleks isn't the only one who has done that. Why don't I remember the other players? Off the top of my head?I know a Detroit guy pulled it off vs the habs earlier this year, damned if I can remember who it was. Maybe if it was on the highlights for months on end or if it was referenced all the time, I would.

I think that's his second or third this year We shouldn't be surprised by it. I'd say it took them a while to contact the PA or something. How long did it take with other divers that were fined? Maybe the NHL were actually trying to decide if it really was a dive, or would they go by the refs call.

My apologies for reviving an old thread, but it was the only one specifically on PK. He's being discussed right now on McKeown's show. John Saunders of ESPN is being interviewed, I think, about the meeting between PK and Willie O'Ree. He (Saunders) is immensely impressed with PK, not only as an athlete but especially as a person. McKeown added a story about a party at McKeown's house with a large group of people. Bob's step son was upstairs, isolated in his room, because he wanted to be. PK was talking with McKeown's wife, heard that her son was upstairs and he said, "Let's go get him". They went upstairs, knocked on his door and PK said, "HI Alex, how's it going?" and then spent a half hour talking with him. According to Bob, the 18 year old was awestruck. PK's a really special guy and goes about proving it every day. I hadn't heard that story before, but it bring up the point that how can you not respect a guy like that. There are lots of people who still don't though and they obviously don't know PK.
