Nice.
Keeps them at bay, for now.
So glad my gut was 100% wrong.
That was a fantastic road game.
Price again. We always have a chance when he plays like that.

Another game where Emelin causes Lucic to lose his head. I just wish that Alexei play as mean in other games; he's ineffective otherwise.

Great game! Habs definitely the better team. Chara reminds me of Murray and Allen. Would be a good 3 way race. Let me get a tissue Can't believe the cheap shots Bruins got away with. Punch to Gals face, knee on Max, run from behind into boards on numerous Habs .

Sportsnet with a great feature on Bob Cole. A real pro.
But Harry Neale looks absolutely terrible. Hope he's okay.

Nice win, for sure. The d-corps was good in front of Price. The forwards worked hard and smart in all three zones. Price was Price.
It is fun to see the Bruins get frustrated again.

The Bruins need Dake Weise awfully badly.

Lucic hit Emelin with a hard check (much to the delight of the Gawden of course) but instead of shirking Emelin got up and ran Lucic as the latter tried to cut across the ice with the puck. It was a little late, borderline I would say, but not overly so. And Emelin more or less missed as Lucic jumped out of the way. But of course Lucic took his usual "do you know who I am??" attitude, incredulous that somebody would actually try to hit him, and went after Emelin and gave him the stick. Blatant and obvious penalty, which Lucic nonetheless argued against vociferously. Buffoon. I only wish we had of scored on the power-play. Alas. Anyways, ho-hum. Another win against the Bruins. Pity we don't play them 80 times a year. We need to figure out a way to convince Emelin that we are, because he's like 100x better whenever he plays against them. And what I always find funny when he gets into these battles with Lucic is that the expression on his face never changes. It's like he doesn't even realize he's being the center of attention. The Advanced Stats say that the Bruins won, but I didn't get that impression. Seemed pretty even to me, with the Habs carrying the play a lot of the time. Maybe in the third when the Bruins pushed back a bit, but otherwise I felt Montreal was in pretty good control most of the game. One thing I've noticed about our team though is that they don't have a "shoot from anywhere" mentality. There are so many times when they could just throw the puck at the net and hope for the best, but instead they cycle some more, or drop it to the blueline, or whatever. I'm a big fan of the "shoot, shoot, shoot" game plan, but it just seems like so many times players will just turn away and hope for a "better" shot. Or maybe that's just me. I wonder what the Bruins will do if they get us in the playoffs? They can beat us, but we're just in Rask's head at this point. Do they go with Baby Subban? What a story that would be, eh?

Lucic, eh ... it's not like he's Darcy Tucker or anything ... ... whether marking Lucic (a la Igor Ulanov) or making a scintillating save in the crease (thanks Mr Gallivan) it was probably Emelin's best game of the year ... love it when a guy like Dale Weise can make a breakaway pass from his knees while burning Chara, et al in the process ... try to watch Chara's expression after it happened ... and to top it off, imagine being a Bruins fan watching your team shoot at an empty net only to see Carey Price ever-so-casually deflect the puck from his stick to his glove ... hey, it's happened to us over the years too ... Cheers.

The losses to the horrible Coyotes and Sabres had me once again questioning the "for realness" of the team.
I'm still having flashbacks to the Gainey/Gauthier days, I guess…..when losses like those would send our team into a slump.
This group shows resiliency.

Saw some highlights on TSN where Marchand took a run at Subban, then hit him with a slewfoot. Meanwhile Lucic narrowly avoids a hit from Emelin and goes nuts (pun not intended).

I never get tired of beating the Bruins. They are still a relevant team, unlike those Leafs (although those are never bad wins either!).
Garry Galley was actually tossing some praise the Habs way last night, despite him doing the broadcast from the TD Gawden.
Seeing the expressions on Chara's, Lucy's and Clod's faces at various points is the icing on the cake. Too bad they didn't show Tuuka on the bench...the Habs are in his head for sure.
A really good weekend after a bad string of two head-scratching losses.

The hit from behind that was wrongly called charging, and the slew foot, should both be reviewed. Little $hit has already been suspended this year for slew foot.

On the CBC broadcast (on which Cole did a creditable job this time), they showed the Bruins filing out at game end and had a close-up of Lucy. He was shaking his head and saying several words which are not fit for polite company. They could have had a thought balloon over his head with "Why us, God, why us?".
If the advanced stats had the Bruins ahead, it points out the need to actually watch the game, too. I thought we had more control than Boston. The only times we gave them much was when we made a mistake, which wasn't often, or when there were some crazy bounces. I recall two puckhandling errors with Carey, a giveaway by Gonchar and maybe a couple of other situations, but not many where we were running around. We came out of our zone really well and PK and Markov were terrific. I thought Sekac had one of his better games, and stood up to the hitting really well. the 4th line buzzed all night and MT even had them out with 30 seconds to go. Yes, we had a 2 goal lead, but it still showed confidence and that was good. A good overall effort. MT did cut Beaulieu's ice time last night, but Nathan was having an awkward game. I think he's pressing to get that first goal and it's affecting him. Talk to him JJ. The goals will come. Throw the puck at the net.

On the CBC broadcast (on which Cole did a creditable job this time) ... Honestly, I think he's been doing a pretty good job for quite some time now ... I remember hearing a change in his broadcasts when he wasn't doing as many Leaf games ... that's where I started noticing a change anyway ... Cheers.

I liked the Traffic Cone vision. Chara is not the rock he once was. He's lost a half step and in his game, that is critical. Or....perhaps the league just keeps speeding up. With the trend away from goons, those 4th lines are being filled by guys with wheels. Maybe their skill level isn't good enough for top 9, but they can usually skate. Our 4th line yesterday had Thomas (or was it Dumont?), DLR and Bournival. That's a lot of speed. The trouble with not playing Rask is that you're leaving an important game in the hands of a raw rookie or a very inexperienced goalie. Habs pummel them and sow the seeds of doubt in yet one more Bruins goalie. Better to let Rask, who was playing very well, try to break his mental block. It failed, , but it was a good gamble, I think. To me, the best part of that win yesterday was that there are no excuses for the Bruins to fall back on. They had a good roster. They had won a number of games and were playing really well. They were at home. And we beat them. Again. Convincingly IMO. No wonder Lucic was ticked.
