Two or three will still be there if the Habs lose. Remember, not so long ago the Red Wings were ahead of the Habs. Of course, the Habs could be five or six points ahead if they win the game.

Like our chances given the goaltending matchup!

Detroit's goaltending has been pretty good this year. I always underrated Howard. He's not in Carey's class, but he's part of a large group of above average goaltenders.

Let's roll the dice and see what happens. Are we quaking in our boots for fear of losing to the Red Wings? I'm not, A loss can be made up in the next game.

Does Greg Paetryn play? Unlikely of course, I'm sure he was just called up as insurance because of the Gonchar injury, but if he does get in ahead of Gilbert or Weaver... well cue the rumour mill!

Love those pics. Stephane Richer with the mullet AND the 'stache! Salut les vrais!
Still the last 50-goal scorer in Montreal (1989-90).

I'd be really surprised if Pateryn dressed. Gilbert comes back in. PK, Gilbert and Weaver at right D. MT does like throwing wrenches at us, though, so no bets on that.

I think Detroit might be the wrong team to drop Pateryn into. Ottawa/Florida might be a better game to drop him in IMO... if Gonch is out that long. Who will MT put out with Beau? Will it be Weaver or Gilbert? I think Weaver would be better but I am worried about Gilbert and Emelin against the Wings. They will forecheck those 2 into the ice.

Lineup as been added as per NHL.com ... Gonchar out and Emelin on with Beaulieu for the second pairing ... third pairing Weaver and Gilbert ...
Cheers.

Howard is just coming back from injury. Mrazek played quite well while he was out but I think Howard is still considered the number 1 guy there.

Hmmmmm, two pairings with the wrong hand on each side. I'd prefer Weaver/Beaulieu and Gilbert/Emelin.

That's the obvious conclusion. My question is, "if one guy is playing on his off wing so to speak, will that be your best second pairing?"

I don't expect a slow start tonight. It's a respectable team we're playing.

Tatar certainoly looks like he went down easily there. It was just a push in the back and not a very hard one. Where's the embellishment call there?

Good kill. Gallagher could draw a call like Tatar's pretty much every shift.

Those Price stats Sportsnet put up on Price are ridiculous! Also we have the best winning % on the road and are 29th for goals scored on the road. That is a stats buster there.

no one can convince me the Wings have a lot of talent. They have some talent, they can all skate and they work their butts off. That's the difference. If they don't work, they're not like the Habs that can still win a game, with Price saving the day. They would just lose. They sure don't take many nights off, though.

Wings showed theire speed with Helm outskating Markov and getting a breakaway on Price. Naturally, Price stops him. I'd like to see the Habs improve their transition game. if they're slow turning it over, the Wings backchecking lets their D have too much advantage. If we can get them one on one with no backups, I think we can take advantage.
