Robinson comes up and plays with Savard. Beaulieu takes a major step up when he's paired with Gonchar. Tinordi comes up and is paired with ....... ? Maybe the game has changed....and maybe it hasn't. Look at how different our defense is now, being able to count on Beaulieu to put in 20+ good minutes a night. Am I right in thinking that the Gonchar/Beaulieu pairing may never have happened if: a) Gonchar didn't surprise us with his play despite his age b) Gilbert and Emelin both kinda sucking at the same time, driving them into 3rd pairing minutes.

Let me see if I got this right .... The key to getting Weise off the first line was trading Sekac?? They now see how you can get an offensive player on the first line and put Sekac Eller on the second line wing. MT is a buffoon. Let's put the natural Center on the second line wing, but not the winger we just traded ....

And Eller has been drawing criticism for his play of late ... a centre moved to the wing and his play ebbs ... go figure ... wouldn't surprise me if Eller is moved soon because of his poor play of late ... Cheers.

Initially, lots of trouble getting out of our end (rinse, repeat). We're not giving up a lot of grade A chances (one, but DLR stick checked the Blue and kept him from the rebound), but we're tiring ourselves out in our end.

Subban with an early, selfish penalty.

That's a completely unnecessary call on PK. It was a tap, not a cross check.

Was listening to Bob McKenzie's take on the trade. Felt it boiled down to Therrien not trusting Sekac and Bergevin feeling if he couldn't trust him in the regular season, he'd better move him on before the playoffs. That might be the right decision, but I'd hate to think Bergevin's now being dictated to by Therrien simply by who he plays or not and how he plays him.
PS. Boston and Vancouver tied 1-1 midway through game.

Eller with one point in his last 20 games ... wow ... Cheers. Zero confidence. None. I guess it's easy from our vantage point to say that, being traded is part of the game, but he's been on the rumour list ever since the networks started the trade deadline scuttlebutt ... until we're in his shoes ... Cheers.

Zone entry on the powerplay hasn't worked all season, yet they still keep trying the same old way.

Even a blind squirrel will find a nut, sometime. Via luck alone, a PP should have a 5% success ratio. We'll get down to that, no fear.
I was waiting for Galchy's line to come out but the period ended. Shall we have a pool? Who'll start the PP in the 2nd? The DD line again, or Pleks line.

Bournival got absolutely rocked twice on his last shift. Bit of a run by Backes on the 2nd one.
Pretty good period. The Blues gave up a few odd man rushes, against our top line mostly, BGal could have had a couple.

Bournival got absolutely rocked twice on his last shift. Bit of a run by Backes on the 2nd one. Yeah, he was being checked by one guy and working hard to push the puck to a teammate in the other corner. Backes caught him unprotected as he was fighting off the other check.

During last year's playoffs I was feeling pretty bad for them, especially when Backes got run. Now I'm not so sure they didn't bring it on themselves. This style may work against many teams, including the Habs, who don't have the horses to hit back physically but it clearly didn't work again the Hawks who can more than hold their own.

Our team is LOADS better when finishing their checks, even though they're not big overall.
