On the bright side, it's the first period and we often suck in the first. Let's just not get down too far. Two shots on goal. Do you guys think we're really this bad? I think we're too small and timid in the wrong places. i.e. our top 2 centres. It happened vs. the Rangers last year....and it's happening on this trip. I don't know how we beat the Kings 6-2 this year. Kings were still in a Cup hangover, most likely. They got their hard hats on tonight. We can't keep up. Yes, 3rd game in 4 nights. Second of a back-to-back.....but the weaknesses are being fully exposed on this trip. I don't blame the players. It's up to the coach to best use the personnel his GM gives him. MB should be faulted for being satisfied with DD and Pleks as our #1 and #2 in his 3 years on the job. Sure, when there are no-hitters going, they're great. But when the real show begins....it's fizzle time. Unless we're playing Boston, ha! ====================== That said, I'll be glad when we're back home and playing Eastern teams again....so we can see how the team can gel with a chance for home practices.

We go into so many games with the wrong gameplan. No sustained possession whatsoever, but that is obviously going to happen when our main objective is to dump it in.
It's painful to watch a player as skilled as Galchenyuk spend 99% of his energy on his defensive responsibilities. I swear, all I ever see him do is chase his opponents down.

I can't wait for the day when we have more guys who can take the body. It's not even about destroying guys, although that would be nice, we're just too easy to play against. It's not just an intimidation thing either. You stop the forecheck when you can either pin a guy or knock him off stride or on his butt. Its the same on our forecheck. Too soft. It's a freewheeling game vs us.
When the guys are tired, not ready, uninterested, sick, or thinking about the bimbo by the glass, we fall below the threshold of effective hockey.

How nice of the Habs to make Petry, Mitchell and Flynn feel welcome. They must still think that they're with the Oilers and Sabres.

Watching this trip makes me double-angry.
I feel as if it's 2003 all over again. But I'm not 12 years younger!

Poor officiating, but really just poor 20 minutes.
I think this game is virtually over, but looking ahead to Saturday I feel optimistic. Most of the boys have earn benefit of doubt this season

Mt won't do it but the top line needs someone else at centre. I'd try eller. Nothing to lose. Won't happen though. I would do this. And roll with it for awhile.

Well guys, best of luck to you. I am not staying up late for the third time watching a zero offence output.

Ha!
DLR is getting the penalty. That King went down easily. Wow!
I guess....but man, they've missed everything on the Kings.

Must be nice to be a big, tough team and go flopping around.
Yet we're the divers.

Arizona is in OT with a pretty good Vancouver team.
I wouldn't be feeling too confident about Saturday's game. It'll be our 4th in 6 nights.

Funny how our best players tonight were some of our big playoff performers from last season. Don't think it's a coincidence.

Nice play by DLR. I'm amazed the guy stayed on his feet.

Subban has been blanketed on this trip.
And it's worked. If Eastern teams are watching....
Galchy sets up Pleks alone in the slot....and he whiffs.

We have 5 shots on goal halfway through the game. I wonder what the record low is for shots. And if it'll be beaten tonight.

We have 5 shots on goal halfway through the game. I wonder what the record low is for shots. And if it'll be beaten tonight. 35 minutes and only 5 shots. I recall a game against Buffalo a few years back....and I think we got something like 9 on Hasek....who made some jokey/derisive comment after the game.

The sea parts for Gilbert, who shows nice hands.
2-1.
Williams let him go...then the official got in Wiliams' way. Free path to the net.
