Good morning,
I'll start off by saying that I was caught off guard by the events that transpired over the past few days. To say I was disappointed in the way it was handled is an understatement and it places me in unfamiliar territory. I can only say I'll try to be as objective as I can.
Folks, if any of you feel there is a problem or problems on the boards, then please drop one of the moderators a line. It's much better to address problems as they arise rather than stew on them and risk something like what just transpired. Finding fault and placing blame does not address any issues, but only serves to isolate and hurt others. Hence, using "I hope I haven't offended anyone" after you've already publicly singled out someone is not a disclaimer; it's akin to "I'm not that kind of player" and is not consistent with values and environment all of us have strived to achieve over the years. And each of you have contributed to this environment over the year whether you know it or not.
To Ozzyhabsfan, you say you've been lurking around our boards for 10 years now. There's no way for me to verify that, so I'll suggest that you probably found some form of entertainment over that timeframe that kept you checking in. You also mentioned a concern on how the Code of Conduct was used to purge our board of any colourful or more-insightful posters. Well, in each case they were warned (some several times) and they made their choices. However, unlike your predecessors, there will be no warnings for you. If you have a problem with that, just bear in mind that I'm showing you the same level of respect that you showed others with your solitary post.
In closing I have reiterate the importance of bringing issues to the forefront as soon as they occur. Please don't stew on anything because it only makes dealing with them later that much more volatile. I would also ask that we think twice about publicly singling out people. It really doesn't accomplish anything.
Make it a good day everyone. Rick

Thank You Rick for creating this thread.
I, and I am sure everyone on this board, appreciates the work you do, not only as a moderator, but also in creating some of the best GDTs this board has ever seen.
Thank you for your effort.
Will.

Thanks Willie, but I'm only trying to protect the enviornment that many of us have tried to build over the years and, whether folks realize it or not, everyone has had hand in that ... it's not about individuals, it's about the community ... just hoping everyone understands that ...
Cheers.

I agree and have a lot of respect for many of the posters and moderators running this board. Hopefully it returns to the type of forum that it once was that brought us here originally.

No point in having a Code of Conduct if it is neither respected nor enforced. Dis, thanks for ensuring substance to the Code all in the community voluntarily agreed to and for doing it in an even handed manner! Other boards might not allow 'MT lovers" to espouse their opinions. But here I feel there exists a charitable approach in which all can voice their views and us "MT Haters" strive to assist those misguided among us

Thank you for your post, Dis. I think in instances where tensions are growing high between two members, it's best nipped in the bud ASAP. However, if I may, I have one question: the last paragraph states that all members should "think twice" before singling out someone, yet one paragraph is clearly directed at just one member. Would that not have been better delivered over private message?

I`m positive we have a number of `guests` who routinely check in on our board, but it`s also important to send a message to others who feel the need to troll our boards ... if he has a problem with it he knows how to contact me ... Cheers.

I'm not aware of any issues with the board past or present. Sure we have the odd debate now and again, but that's part of the fun!! Many of us have been on here so long it's like a dysfunctional family.
The Mods have been great here in the past and I'm sure they will be in the future!! Keep up the good work everyone!!

Dis,
First off, this board is great because of the posters, their maturity, and their insightfulness ... And the mods do a great job of creating an environment for healthy discussion. CO deserves great praise for creating the best board of any kind.
As for ozzy, ..., I took his post to be that he is a regular, that created a fake account, so he could post his criticisms. I hope that isn't the case, and it sounds like it wasn't.

I was able verify that Ozzy is not an alias ... there's a function added to the moderator profiles that allow us to match a member's IP against others on the board ... it was one of the first things I did and Ozzy had no aliases ... thanks for weighing in, man ... edit: I'll be removing this thread later today unless any of the mods object to it ... no need to have this hanging over the community ... Cheers.

Dis, I think it would be better to archive this thread rather than outright deleting it. It seems too important an issue to just have this discussion "vanish."

Dis, I think it would be better to archive this thread rather than outright deleting it. It seems too important an issue to just have this discussion "vanish." I echo Mattias' sentiment. You can always look back to this thread as a precedent should similar issues arise in the future (evidencing that you guys don't practice board moderation on a whim). I know I've had differences with posts/posters at times, but it's always been civilized disagreements that at worst end up with an "agreement to disagree". Let's keep this board a place where Habs' fans can continue to have good discussions. This is always the first place I come when I want to know what's happening with the Habs. I sure would hate to lose that. Cheers, Gogie
