4 line night. Just rolled them out.
Canes are terrible.

It bothered me a little bit that Carey still had to make some great saves. But just a little. The Canes were cannon fodder tonight. Good work by Prust, Pateryn, Eller and a host of others.

Cheers.

It bothered me a lot! No reason to be giving up those quality scoring chances to a team like the Canes. Much of it was careless lack of focus. That's 2 games in a row that Chucky has taken a dumb penalty at the end. Not sure what Carey would be thinking if he lost his shutout as a result. Pateryn is turning into everything we wanted from Tinordi, and maybe more. Eller has played some great hockey recently. Him and Rosey work well together. DSP I just don't know. Just doesn't seem to get it, or have it. I might feel a little more for him if he would once in a while smile or engage with his teammates.

Pretty solid game.
I wonder about Eller. He's found his offense but his defensive game is still iffy. I wonder if he'll ever have a clear role on any NHL team, since he can't put up the numbers to be a top-6 forward and his defense is inconsistent.
I also hope Beaulieu took a long hard look at Hainsey, and considered that might be his future (a journeyman) if he can't find that next step, namely by doing something with the puck at the opposing blueline, other than throwing it back behind the net.
I can't seem to find it in me to trust Gilbert out there.
DSP is clearly the weakest link among our forwards.
The RDS crew mentionned that MT should be a candidate for the coach of the year award.

Pretty depressing post. I think Eller is one of our better defensive forwards and seems to be getting his offence geared up for the playoffs. Hainsey had a lot more hype than Beau but at this point i think Beau's potential is better. Having said that, i think Beau would be happy to have Hainsey's career, and certainly the millions he's made. Never trusted Gilbert. He gives me the heebee jee bees. With Gonchar and Petry back, hopefully Gilbert sits, particularly if Pateryn pals like he did tonight. DSP just doesn't do it for me. Some say he came here out of shape. Is that the sort of player we want? My hope is that he is a playoff grinder that will be very useful. We'll see. But right now he seems like Moen-lite to me. MT coach of the year. Ridiculous. If not for Carey "Mr. Hart" Price we're not even in the playoffs.

I'm looking at Hartley, especially if the Flames sneak in. it's too late for him, but Dave Cameron would get consideration . . . again, it's all on the back of a goaltender -- and now the team believes, especially after last night . . . and methinks the Bruins might be hearing solid footsteps.

Nice to have a "comfortable" game for a change. Though to be honest I didn't think it was going to be that way until the third goal. Dreaded two goal lead and all that. But after that the third goal it was pretty much in the bag.
Paetryn solid again. I doubt he gets the call over any vets once the playoffs start but it's nice to have him as depth. Beaulieu too, who I thought was a little more relaxed last night (though still not back to his 25 minute game form). Even Gilbert and Emelin were okay. Be interesting to see who sits on Saturday, when presumably Petry is back.

Would've been nice to have seen a 4-0 dominant win….but it wasn't the case. Still concerned about the saves Price had to make against a relatively weak team. Outshot 27-12 in the last 40 minutes, he earned every bit of that shutout…most importantly keeping it at 2-0, when it could've easily been 2-2 in the second. DD's goal on a hard pass from Gilbert did the Canes in….but the Canes continued to get good sniffs around Price in the third. Playing for pride, no doubt….but still.
Teams from Anaheim to Buffalo have found big seams and holes in our defensive play all year. Gotta sew them up for the playoffs. I'm sure it isn't MT's preference that we give up so many quality chances.
Not apologizing for having the best goalie in the world….I just wish he wasn't called upon so often for the ten-bellers.

If I had a vote, I'd be giving the nod to Peter Laviolette (Nashville), Alain Vigneault (NY Rangers) and Michel Therrien (Montreal). Those are my three finalists, and what do they all have in common? Great goaltending.

Right on ... a young, steady NHL defenseman ... unfortunately, you're probably right about the veteran thing, although DLR seems to have cracked the lineup ... my DSP hype never really got off the ground ... at least Turner Stevenson was in game-shape all the time ... Cheers.

Cheers. I think you will see a different DSP next year. They interviewed him and he says the biggest difference for him was the speed in the east... out west they are big and fast but they are faster in the east. I think... and hope... that he comes to camp in better shape and with a bit more speed. I assume that Pierre Allard will have a list of things for him to do in the off season.

Pretty honest comments ... I'm hoping he finds that speed in the playoffs ... and if he doesn't I'm hoping they don't waste too much time waiting for him ... we have some really good young players who played well with the big club when they were here ... Cheers.

Great tactician with a team rounded out with over achievers that can skate. Of the last 20 years, it's easily the least talented group of Wings, but they're well in the thick of it.

I thought about him ... But usually, not always, but usually the Jack Adams is doled out by comparing the team to the previous year. The most improved team is Nashville , and New York and Montreal should finish with about 10+ more points than last year
