Total joke. Our defense standing around on puck retrieval.

Subban was lazy on that play. He non-chalantly challenged Palat at our blueline....and was beaten easily.
Oh well....3-1...lights out.

Nonchalant is right. Like they already gave up, in a one goal game.

PK and Markov again, but as is being pointed out, there are no forwards anywhere. It's the system. We like those long passes, but it puts tons of pressure on the D to clear the zone with precise passes. DD at the red line, Patches half way from blue to red.

Nonchalant is right. Like they already gave up, in a one goal game. Prust talked about giving them too much respect. Sure seems like they know it's over once Tampa gets the lead.

Shots 31-13. You give up 31 shots after two periods?
How have we won any games?
Detroit not only shuts them out, but gets four goals in the process. How?

Just saw the replay, there was one guy, on the opposite side that Marky rang it. Very high though.
Just terrible. Intimidated by their speed. Standing around. Tampa never stops skating, we stop. Giving them a running start advantage all the time.
Going to have to figure out how to play these guys. Maybe hit them? Unfortunately, 3/4s of our team don't hit.

No wonder Cooper says it's fun playing the Habs. For them, it is.

The thing is you don't have to hit anyone hard or even 'hit' them at all. You just get in their way so that they make the pass, bump into you and can't take a return pass easily. We're not making them hit the brakes and then forcing them to pick up speed again. We're letting them cruise, so their speed and gas mileage is great (to use an automotive metaphor). You simply get in their way. It forces them to use more energy to get going again and suddenly they're down to your speed or lower. Hitting people is good, but you have to pick your spots. For example, one set play I would set up is to have a forward coming back on Drouin. When the defenseman takes away the outside along the boards, Drouin stops and turns around. That's when you have your backchecking forward run right over him. Cleanly, but just steamroll him. From that point on, when he tries the same thing, he's going to be hearing footsteps and not thinking about where to put the puck, but how to avoid being run over, even if you have no intention of running him over a second time. Maybe the third or fourth time. You do it inconsistently and it works best that way.

Petry. Learn from that snapper, Subban.

It is to assume a team focus on a game when season record is 0 win 4 losses. And to assume this makes it harder to feel ok about a performance of this nature.

Look at that, Skilly....
A wrist shot from the point gets deflected and it's 3-2.

First adjustment, Pleks to top line and now Weise scores from a Petry wrist shot, to close the gap to one.

DD should be on the third line, not the second. I'd put Eller on the second line, DD at left wing with DLR at centre on the third.

Two guys go for a hit, two-on-one the other way.
Keep shooting yourselves in the foot, guys.
I'm done.
We'll have only gotten 1 point out of 10 against Tampa.

Wow....another 2-on-1 because Pateryn didn't recognize that Eller had the guy at the blueline.

I submit exhibit A: why going for the big hit is not usually a great idea.

Poor Lars, big hit in the Tampa end, then gets caught trying to run Pateryn's man.
