So, in an effort to give Colton Orr that all important 477th NHL game ( ); the Leafs have recalled the 2014/15 AHLer for Saturday's season finale vs. the Canadiens. article link: www.tsn.ca/leafs-recall-enforcer-orr-1.252031"TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have recalled enforcer Colton Orr from the AHL's Marlies. Orr is expected to play in the regular-season finale Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens. The Leafs brought the 33-year-old forward back to play one more NHL game. Orr's contract expires this summer. Orr spent this season in the minors after two years with the Leafs. Saturday will be Orr's 477th career NHL game." MB and MT ... pay attention and bring up every potential pugilist from Hamilton and rest your top 2/3 lines along with Carey Price; even if it means forfeiting a Bulldogs game. If that is not a possibility then have someone take him out of the game on his first shift; before he has an opportunity to carry out his mandated 'damage'. This is a ridiculous move and just shows that, even w Brendan Shenanigans at the helm; the TML are a lost cause.

This call-up, IMO, is grossly overblown. It is reportedly being done as a thank you to Orr for his services as a Leaf (which is silly too, of course). I think Orr will do his best to score a goal or get an assist. I don't think he wants to be remembered in perhaps his last NHL game, as some guy who injured a number of players. What are we going to do, call up Connor Crisp or Joe Finlay? Then, how does that make us look?
Just ignore it.

I'm kind of in between the opinion of jerry-dog and seventeen. I think we should be resting most of our key guys on Saturday (for sure if we clinch 2nd in the conference before then) and giving some of the kids from the farm a look-see. Unfortunately that probably won't happen - the Dogs are in Texas for games Friday and Saturday and mathematically they still have a shot at making the playoffs so I can't see anyone being called up.

The Leafs don't seem to be up to their "usual" thuggery, so if Orr wants to start something he'll likely be going it alone.

I'd call up Crisp and Findlay, to play hockey, and tell them don't start anything but sure as heck finish it.

I'd be surprised if it were his goal to go out with a bang. I'd also be surprised if anyone took him up on it. What's the number of games played requirement for full NHL pension qualification? It's over 400 and less than 500.

And peace and love throughout the world! 17, if only everyone look so hard to see the good in people, and even hockey players. There is nothing Orr would like more than to get a goal or an assist. But he is not capable of that (career avg. of .05 ppg). So he will give the rabid nothing left to cheer for Leafs fans what they want, which as win in any aspect of the game they can. So the guy who averages more penalty minutes per game than playing minutes will do what he has always been paid to do and is the only thing he can control. He will FIGHT. He will be juiced up on whatever these goons now ingest and will be looking for a victim. That's the sad reality of these guys. I agree calling up a goon to engage just plays their game. I believe the orders to all the players including Prust, Pateryn, Weise is don't engage and turtle if you have to. There is absolutely nothing to gain in engaging and a whole lot to lose. Cherry will go on about the Hab cowards and we can go on about how Habs win Cups, something Cherry has never been able to do, even though he coached the other Orr. Back to a point i made in the Fla thread, this is all on the refs and their game management. There should be no nonsense permitted in this game. It should not be called like any other game. You have a team that is finished playing in a few hours and a team which has a good chance to win the Cup if there are no injuries. Call anything and everything and DO NOT let this game lead to any injury or get out of control. The refs are a colossal failure if they allow Orr to drop the gloves without kicking him out. He should be told that at the outset!

Didn't like it when I first read it ... I suspect he'll want to go out on a memorable note, so at the very least I think he'll be throwing his weight around ... if he's a good team guy, the Leafs may just play hard for him ... figure they'll be coming out hard, anyway.... last game and all ...
Cheers.

I guess it all depends on whether or not Orr really does plan on retiring. If he's just there for a victory lap then I can't see him fighting anyone; why risk getting caught and ending up with permanent damage for nothing? On the other hand, if he's trying to prove he can still be an NHL player then yeah, I could see him going nuts out there, trying to hit and challenge everything that moves. Play up his strengths, no pun intended.

Who's to say guys like Phaneuf, Kadri, and Komarov won't take liberties in what could very well be their last game in a Leaf uniform?
We've already had that mentality's guru (Cherry) accuse the Habs of laughing at the Leafs in their last meeting.
Go out with a bang, indeed! You think the refs will stem it, if it happens? Ha!
Toker might get the start….but I guess it all depends upon what happens with Tampa…and whether or not the Habs want first.

I think this is his last NHL game and the Leafs are getting him in the lineup. He'll probably try to score more than he will hit.

I don't think that a uniform makes a poor sport. I'd be shocked if anything stupid happens, because what's the point, and who wants to miss next years home opener and maybe lose their job to a replacement. Good on the Leafs for bringing him back for one more game, he's their version of a Nilan or Kordick, and as per usual he'll have to send out an invite if he wants to salsa.

I think Toronto is just trying to further their tanking effort. My hunch will be validated if they end up playing him on their top line, or even just 10+ minutes.
