Good stuff Dis. One correction: game 6 is Sunday.
We only need one of the next two! Hoping Carey will come in determined and focused. But then even if he stands on his head that means a 0-0 game with our top 6 and our PP.

No shootouts in the playoffs, right? Too bad.

I was thinking of putting up the thread when it was 3-0 but I waited until it was 4-1 ... then I posted it and changed the channel ... Cheers.

Not sure of the time. I heard 6PM but that may be the start of the pre game. Not sure if I can watch. Starting to freak out a bit & it may be better for me to stay away from the TV.

Sorry for being late with that guys ... the only way I can keep up with the changes is if I'm on 24/7 ... I verified the info on NHL.com and both the time of the game and the TV listings have been updated ... Cheers.

I'm not so much worried as I am disappointed ... just finish around the net ... Galchenyuk had a great chance to bury it down low when Anderson left the whole far side open, only he shot it into his logo ... missing on breakaways is killing us, too ... if we could just finish on a few of the chances we've had the series would be over ... I haven't given up on our club, but it's very tough watching them right now ... lots of skating, lots of shots and lots of chances ... just no finish ...
Cheers.

Issues are arising that we thought might happen during the playoffs: not enough goals. We'll need Price to be picture perfect from here on out because that seems far likelier than our forwards putting a few goals in. That said, I'm not sure I can watch this. Nothing these past two games tells me they'll be able to rally in time to win a game.

I don't have much hope if MT continues to do the same things that he has the last couple of games season.
otoh . . . hmmm . . . trying to figure out what that "oh" is.

The team seems to respond best when everyone gives up on them or is most annoyed with them. That's pretty well about now, or perhaps Sunday evening, around midnight.

Does anyone havew an explanation for the Habs' anemic play?

As best I can tell, 16 teams started the playoffs and as of right now there are only 2 that are in a better position than us. Chin up boys! I think the Sens and their fans are getting down right cocky.

There are 3 simple keys to victory.
1. Show up with the intensity shown in the first 3 games. 2. Get to the net before shots. 3. Let Price see more. Block out Sens forwards.
They've been in a funk since the get away to Mont Tremblant. Extra day or not, I didn't like it. A forth key could be scoring on the PP, but that's not simple it would seem. I still contend the pluggers should get the ice time. At the very least, Weise needs to be out there. He's got hands and tenacity.
None of it is about overcoming the better team. It's about playing to their own ability. If they play at 80%, they're going to lose. Simple as that.

A hideaway in the Eastern Townships is not new for the Habs. I think they used to do it going back to the 60's at least. the entire team would go away to the mountains to avoid the press and to 'bond'. No families allowed. That's very paternalistic and tough to get away with today. Maybe they thought team bonding would happen. I'm not concerned about that, but I am concerned about the lower compete level than in previous games. The Habs, all of them, have to want it more than they've shown. I don't know if it's a result of the Mt. Tremblant trip, but whatever, the compete level has to be higher. I truly feel its that simple.

Get the first goal and keep the pressure on.
But we won't.
It'll be another safe game...fearful of making mistakes.
The Sens will be very patient....and they'll get away with a LOT of calls. "series-management"
We won't be so lucky.
On a side note....I noticed (sound off) Cherry tonight showing clips of Ottawa playing well.
Not once in the process of the Habs building a 3-0 series lead did he and MacLean show highlights or talk about our series at that length.
It was always "poor Ottawa"....briefly.

I think Price is starting to feel the weight of the pressure on him.
All season long, his team hasn't been able to score enough...and he put in a Vezina/Hart performance.
Aside from Game 1, the lack of goal support has continued into the playoffs...how could it not....where the intensity and pressure is even greater.
Every mistake he makes...every goal he allows is huge....and he knows it.
He isn't Superman....but he's our MVP....our superstar....our captain in all but name.
I just hope Bergevin doesn't allow him to be burned out.

I just hope Bergevin doesn't allow him to be burned out. Price has been pretty ordinary for the past three weeks or so. He may already be getting there.

If he's burnt out, he's not the goalie many think he is or we need him to be. There's no doubt that Price has more pressure on him than Anderson. Anderson has nothing to lose and everything to gain. Price may not have been spectacular at this point, but where we are isn't his fault. The top six needs to get the lead out.
I will say this, it's been interesting to see the number of top end goalies struggle in these playoffs. Crawford was in and out in Hawks-Preds series. Rinne was average. Bishop has been outplayed by Mrazek.

I just hope Bergevin doesn't allow him to be burned out. Price has been pretty ordinary for the past three weeks or so. He may already be getting there. Could be. This isn't directed at anyone in particular….but if anybody criticizes Price…they should remember that, without his play this year, we likely wouldn't have even made the playoffs. For the majority of the season there's been nobody better on the planet. Finished with most wins, best GAA, and best Save %. Tied for the Jennings as well. His 6th straight year winning the Molson Cup….in a runaway. (I know goalies have a tendency to get star selections, as they're a main focus…..but this year was remarkable.) 21 FIRST STAR selections. Next in line is Pacioretty with 5. So, in 21 games, at least, Price was called upon to be THE FIRST STAR. That's being a HUGE part in at or near 42 pts., folks. 6 SECOND STAR. 4 THIRD STAR. And he's still near the top of his game. We just have to find ways to get him some goal support. Getting the first goal (which hasn't happened yet) would be a great start. If we bow out to the Sens, it won't be his fault. In Game 4, he had a shutout going 52 minutes in. What more is he supposed to do? His team can't score.

Yup! If we don't win the series this will all be on our top 6. Carey has played well enough. He let in one softy to make it 1-0 in game 5. But the team needed to rally and they didn't. Who do you look for in a rally? Your leaders, who are usually on the top 6. But let's face it, none of our top 6 are reliable 'go to' guys with the exception of Max. And he is either injured or gone into one of his hibernation periods. He's got two games left to heal or wake up.
Would any of us expect Pleks to lead us to a playoff victory? Is anyone expecting Chucky to mature in the next week? Does anyone expect DD to be a force in a tough playoff game? While we all love BGal and what he brings, do we see him lighting up the score sheet? And surely we're not relying on DSP to save us? So the top 6 is what it is - a weak top 6 to lead anyone to the Cup. So either Max wakes up or Carey steals a game; otherwise we're toast. I'm betting on Carey!
The good news is that we either win this series or MT loses his job. From my perspective that's a win/win for Habs fans.

From my perspective that's a win/win for Habs fans. we can always hope . . . but I doubt the second. 2 more years with an option for a 3rd. won't happen until well into the season, and only if the team is struggling. which will happen if (a) the PP still stinks (2) Carey is average or (iii) MB doesn't doesn't a scorer somehow.
