Yup.....just don't see how they can all of a sudden find enough offence to win 4 games....I guess you never know but really hard to see it happening..
Then again it just may take one game to get the confidence that is obviously lacking.
If the Habs do flame out with no scoring poor Chucky although only 21 will really start feeling the pressure of playing in Montreal next year fairly.

Get one past Bishop early. Get in his kitchen. Get him off his game, and we shall see.
Hoping for a great game.

The lack of scoring isn't a new problem. This has been going on for the past 2 seasons and it could very well be our undoing this playoffs. I will take the same effort in Game 2 that we got in Game 1 but the lack of finish is killing us.

Galchenyuk should've been left at centre back in January.
We were something like 10-3-1 when he was placed there. And he was producing. Hat-trick vs. Carolina included.
A couple of off-games….and he was moved back to the wing.
He would've had 3 more months of development had he stayed.
I think it was one of MT's worst decisions of the season.
A big reason we play on the perimeter is because of our lack of strength down the middle.
Eller has been the strongest centre for us in these playoffs.
Can't beat Pleks for the PK…..but he's never been what you'd call a power/warrior-type centre.
DD tries his absolute best….but he has obvious limitations.
Bergevin has work to do in that respect….if we go into next season with the same Top 3 centres….I will tune out.

Next year is big for Galchenyuk whether he is on the wing or at centre, but his performance in the playoffs has been a disappointment.
Eller has been symptomatic of our problem in that he has generally outplayed his counterpart and plays a strong possession game but no finish and not enough points.
I'm not ready to give up on this series but Berg has some decisions to make this summer and not just easy stuff like filling out the bottom 6 and adding depth on defense. There are real issues up front that need to be figured out.

Good evaluation to see who to keep and who to ditch. Our offense dried up against the Rangers, and it's even drier now.

Just pointing out given Chuckys talent level he will be one of the scape goats in this market if the off she stays below the Mendoza line.
Your right CH should have left him a center....taking nothing from DD but 2 goals in 34 playoff games ....what Mt won't put out another center on the 1st wave PP is frustrating to say the least. Patches Eller Galchenyuk would give you size across the board and have your best 2 shooters ....you'd think they would try every combo they could think of given how bad the PP is. Anyways until they get more scoring and size down the middle we may continue to be frustrated ....you just hope they don't waste this teams window by continuing down this road....IMO it's just opening but there are also other teams entering that same time frame.

Not sure we can blame MB when the coach has not attempted to use players in all situations and tried different combinations. The stubbornness of this guy is truly frustrating. What really pisses me off is that even when he stumbles across an upgrade (Chuck at centre, GEG line) and it has great potential, he changes it and never goes back even when NOTHING else is working.
In any event, I think TB is very beatable. If goalies win series, Bishop looks fragile and Carey is Carey. i also believe we can lose today's game and still win the series. But it would he easier to win today!

Great GDT as always. I love the 1969 video. Two things jump out at me: 1) how quickly the teams are shaking hands after the final whistle (10 seconds?) and 2) Clarence Campbell, the goof, simply wants to give Mr. Beliveau the Cup but #4 being the gentleman he was insists on shaking the goofs hand.

Gotta agree in spades, Dis. Awesome GDT. If only our team could play against Tampa the with the quality of your GDT's. They'd be unbeatable. Thanks for the effort and time you put in, Rick.

We've been struggling to score all year ....
We have defense good at the transition game, it does not lead to better offense. We have good bottom six to crash and bang, and create space, and keep the oppositions head on a swivel , it does not lead to better offense,
What leads to better offense?
Having offensive players. Improving your top 6. And the fact the Habs didn't recognize this LAST year when we flamed out, irritates me. Don't tell me the prices were high, they weren't. MB was comfortable with our top six, and wanted playoff type bottom 6 players.
We made our bed, and this isn't a new revelation. We've struggled to score for a long time now.

MB was comfortable with our top six, and wanted playoff type bottom 6 players. We made our bed, and this isn't a new revelation. We've struggled to score for a long time now. Agree that we all knew we needed to improve top 6. And I think the focus was on the centre position. Don't think anyone has any issue with Max or BGal on the top 6 - they are legit top 6 on any team. Pleks is a good second centre. Chuck should be on top 6. So that left two positions to fill. And PAP was the answer. That was/is a joke. If we couldn't do it with Vanek, PAP was not an improvement. But when one gets down to it, what we are really missing is a top line centre. We had/have all given up on DD adequately filling that role. Pleks has had that role and failed. So the only logical explanation for MB is that he believed Chuck would step in. Was he wrong? Who knows? Chuck did quite adequately when given the chance. But MT arrested the progress for both Chuck and the team. So we are now, without Vanek, in a weaker position in the top 6 than we were last year. Should anyone expect that we would do better in the playoffs this year? It's Carey or bust, AGAIN.

I liked our game on Monday. There were enough chances generated, but lack of finish. I figure we're due for a 3-4 goal offensive outburst. Hopefully tonight, and keep the bolts off the board while we're at it. A win tonight erases any doubts that we can win the series, and puts the pressure on Tampa to win at home. Predicting 4-1 good guys. Go Habs go!!!

Picking up Vanek was a step in the right direction last year. But MB did not replace the scoring or even the constant threat of scoring. It also helps explain our PP woes. Not enough true finishers up front.

Looks like Desharnais is a healthy scratch: The Sportsnet crew wasn't sure if it was a healthy scratch or he was out of the lineup for another reason.

They said DD's out with the flu.
But Galchy stays on the wing. And Flynn comes in as 3rd line centre.

In the last game, Coburn had his stick between DD's legs in front of the net and literally lifted him a foot off the ice. That was not a vision that I particularly enjoyed. DD should have given him a mouthful of stick. Id' take the penalty for that.

So everyone gets their wish ... DD is out. I hope he is sick, and not benched. I Agree with most on here that we need to improve up the middle. But Game 2 of the Division Finals is not the time to be teaching your second most offensive Center a lesson.
I wonder if we had Sam Bennett, would the Habs play him in these playoffs? Cause for all our lack of scoring woes, I don't see Scherbak even on the roster.

Bennett's kind of a special player, though. Don't think Scherbak will be in that league.
Hmmm. I realize no one fights in the playoffs, but if there was ever a time when a timely trouncing would help the team, now is it.
