That was a real screwup by Pleks on that breakout. What can you say?

That was a real screwup by Pleks on that breakout. What can you say? That a veteran like should Plekanec should know better; isn't he supposed to be such a good 2 way player. Ask him why he couldn't complete a simple dump in.

You could almost sense it they packed the last shift as if they getting to OT was a victory of sorts...T Bay had like. 5 scoring chances in that last shift...that aside deserved a better fate but fact is no finish and they just don't have skill players and ones that can get to the scoring areas...god bless Gally wish the rest had that fight might be different story even with plumbers.
Actually heading to Orlando in the morning won't be flying the colours or taking the trip,to Tampa
See you guys on the golf course.

Ask him why he couldn't complete a simple dump in. I logged in to say the same thing. Terrible situational awareness. He got himself and both his wingers trapped going the wrong way. Just a soft, horrible play. And with such little time left of course Tampa's D would jump up. Pretty much a 4-2, even a 5-2 once Plekanec coughed it up.

Pretty much a 4-2, even a 5-2 once Plekanec coughed it up. I kind of disagree. If you watch the replay and stop the frames you can see that Pleks laid a soft pass for Pacioretty who had Stralman stepping up to cover Max. If Patches can corral that puck he has a clear 2-on-1 with Gallagher. Why go to OT if you have a chance to win the game? But the puck gets caught up outside the blueline and Pleks doesn't have a strong play to make at that point other than to push the puck onto Tampa's side. But there was still no danger yet. If you stop the frame at 4.5 seconds there are 3 Habs players in our end against 2 Lightning players, and Palat has the puck. Pacioretty closes on Palat but Subban also steps on Palat up allowing Johnson to slip behind him. By about 3 seconds you can see the developing play. Subban is recovering to get back when he shouldn't have stepped up in the first place and Johnson is now free at the side of the net. Just a bad sequence, really that whole last minute was sloppy, and you can say that Pleks should have just dumped the puck deep (which would have been icing) and played for OT, but he saw a play that had a good chance to develop into a scoring threat so I can't fault him for that. We had the numbers to recover defensively and Subban botched his coverage.

Before his ejection in game 1 against Ottawa he had 2 assists. Since then he has had 1 goal & 2 assists in 8 games. One of those assists was on Pacioretty's meaningless EN goal in game 6. That's way below par for a 60 point D man.

If it was Plekanec's job to get the puck in deep, max shouldn't have cut in front of him. Not only that, but Max made a very poor effort at giving Pleks a target. He didn't even have his stick on the ice. It was pretty clear that both Plekanec and Max were thinking pass from the moment Pleks took off - the right move as BH pointed out. The fact that they didn't pull it off was more Max's fault imo.

If I thought that I wouldn't be tuning in tonight ... Cheers. I've showed up more than some of the players have. I'll likely have it on, but won't hang around to suffer if I think they're just going to bow out.
