Can't score....another 1-goal game. Another empty PP.
Brutal defensive focus on the winning goal.

Tampa looked pretty listless...then the game was handed to them.

I feel good about Game 4 ... Cheers. I felt good about tonight. And about Game 2. Since I don't feel anything for Game 4, perhaps they'll win. How many years left on Markov's contract?

Fork, dinner, done.
New PP coach to repair the disaster. Addition of offense to lineup desperately required.

Can't score.
Owned them for 2 periods.
Lots of missed calls.
Seems legit.

This is to be expected. We needed scoring. We struggled to score all year. Our GM couldn't find scoring.
You are not going to win many games scoring 1 goal a game .... 1 goal a game. Our only "true" sniper, is a perimeter shooter. As its plain to see, you might be able to score 37 of them in the regular season, but you have to get in front in the playoffs.

Struggled to score, and even more so to score first. Only twice in nine playoff games... How many times are we going to hear in the post-game interview, "Gotta play a full 60..."

Tampa had more chances in the last minute than in the last two periods.
Can't win if you don't score.

Mitchell with 4 points in 9 games leads the team in scoring.
Nuff said.

Mitchell with 4 points in 9 games leads the team in scoring. Nuff said. and he hasn't even played every game has he?EDIT - thinking of Flynn with his 3 points. I wonder if it's time for some long termers to go. I've grown weary of Plekanec's in and out play in the playoffs. Plekanec - a gift of a goal in game one against Ottawa & nothing since + a lazy play on the game winner. Markov was terrible, can he be talked into retirement? The list goes on.

Play not to lose defend at all cost in every situation mentality never play to win has come to bite them in the ass.... 8 games no changes and the coach will blame everything on execution...show me the players yes but show me a coach who can adapt his game plan..... Don't get me started on the coach but they won't win with this guy better players or not.

Pleks has never been a playoff warrior.
This team has ZERO strength down the middle in the Top 6.
Only Eller has shown the willingness to crash in front....and he remains a 3rd liner.
A big reason we're a perimeter team.

A big reason we're a perimeter team. Plekanec is 32 and has a year left on his deal. Time to trade is this off season - unless of course Bergevin considers him one of those players that gets you to the playoffs. As we just saw, he's not one of those guys that gets you through the playoffs

A big reason we're a perimeter team. I've said that in the long run, we can't keep both Plekanec and Desharnais. I don't recall Desharnais making poor defensive decisions with the puck in dire times of the game.

Caps take a 3-1 series lead over the Rangers. 12 goals scored, total, in that series. Just saw on Sportsnet that the Rangers goals per game in the POs is 1.77, same as Montreal. Nash with no goals.

Not sure how Detroit can make Bishop and the Lightning look ordinary, and we can't get more than a goal past him.

MT is a Jacques Lemaire disciple it's boring and un imaginative it has it's place at times but not all the time .... Great effort tonight but giving the puck away in those last few minutes cost you the game .... This team is built to have the puck not give it away all the time...anyways I'm wasting my breath MT is not going anywhere

We definitely played well enough to win this one. Imo we've outplayed Tampa for the most part in this series.
So far, the only captain-like performance that I have seen so far has been from Mitchell. We need a couple of our core players to step up and play like captains. One thing that I know: it won't be Andrei Markov. We're seeing why it's so important to not overplay Markov during the regular season. We were all calling this a long time ago.

Not sure how Detroit can make Bishop and the Lightning look ordinary, and we can't get more than a goal past him. Detroit has more offensive players than the Habs and a better coaching system. Piss Poor coaching decisions in the last minute of the game. All the wrong players on the ice. I hate to say it but, PK and Markov are not our # 1 pairing. Therrien should have had at least Petry on the ice along with Eller and Weise. Eller has been our best centre the entire playoffs, yet has he ever been on the PP, I can't recall. Same old PP unit sent out time after time. It comes to a point where you have to make a change. this coaching staff is stuck in a rut with no imagination. It's a shame, because most of the guys played a brilliant game and gave their all (Gallagher is a warrior). Tampa was shut down all game until the last 2 minutes. The Habs stopped skating, weak dump in attempts (Plekanec) resulting in several odd man rushes. You could tell Tampa was going to score.

Babcock's system is the same as MT's. They play it the same way. The players, the bounces, make the difference.
The Monday morning quarterbacking is a little silly sometimes. Nobody expects Pleks to have a brain fart, and PK/Markov have been playing together as the top duo all year. You can't play Petry/Emelin for 2 straight minutes at the end of the game either. Gilbert Pateryn near the end isn't ideal either. So what do you do? These are the guys we have.

He's been pretty much everything some have been screaming for him to be; * Plekanec and Pacioretty have been playing together * Desharnais on the third line (and didn't even play one game) * Less dump ins (should have had at least one more last night) * We've been the better possession team * We've outshot them every game * We've had more offensive zone time than they have The advanced stats have been great. And yet we're down 3-0.
