Got the split in Tampa--too bad they couldn't get one in Montreal.
Foot on the freaking gas.

Time to start our own little winning streak vs this team. I won't be greedy and want 8, 4 will do.

If nothing else, that game served to cleanse the palate from the foul taste of defeat at the hands of the Lightning this year.
If you're going to stay alive, better to make some sort of statement in the process.

Healy and Hughson.... the poster boys for birth control I didn't mind either of them tonight. Simmer, however. All he could talk about was the fact he'd have left Bishop in and instead of 6-2 maybe it's 3-2. Solid all around effort tonight and our best players were our best players. More quality scoring chances than perhaps the first 3 games combined. I have no idea why Therrien started the third with Gilbert on the ice. Third pair, start of a period, on the PK? Sorry. That's a tactical error. Can't be doing that. Flip side is that I really like the Petry Emelin pairing. They seem to communicate well. Petry's one of those hybrid types. Size, smooth skater, can and does hit. Likely won't ever be a big point producer, but he's a minute eater. Some demons were exorcised tonight. More pucks on Bishop's catching glove, especially near his ear. More net drive for rebounds. Tonight's win shows a lot of character. More will need to be shown Saturday. Home ice, last change with refs and linesmen not chasing teams to the faceoff circle should mean no Gilbert/Pateryn vs the triplets. One shift at a time. One period at a time. One game at a time.

Needed that. Great bounce back from the heartbreaker last night.
The boys have outplayed Tampa a lot of periods this series. Keep it up.

I'm totally shocked by tonight's result to be honest. I fully expected the Habs to go away meekly. Now they've gone and blown their two week goal quota in one game!

Honestly, I was expecting a win, but not by this spread ... le Club has a pretty good chance at winning in Montreal, more so with the seed they planted tonight ... Tampa bench was dejected and their players resorted to cheap shots ... have to keep that going ... nice game by Desharnais ... outstanding forecheck over the last two games ... just as soon as their goaltending gives out, they're done ... Bishop was inconsistent through most of the regular season ... Cheers.

Tampa didn't really play a "bad" game per se, but this result probably shocked them.

Tampa clearly didn't show up to play, in my opinion. I think that they thought that after the heart breaker the night before all they would have to do is throw their sticks on the ice and they would win. That was certainly Bishop's strategy anyways. Kudos to the boys for being professional and showing up for work. Markov in particular rebounded quite nicely. That first goal was actually a highly skilled play, even though it looked like all he had to do was put it into the empty net. But he did have to corral the pass that was in his skates, kick it up to his stick, and then make a sharp angle shot look easy. Well done.
I expect Game 5 to be much, much closer. Jon Cooper is a very good coach, and he's going to have them focused again. And they've faced adversity before, coming back from 3-1 against Detroit. They will be ready.
Still, faint hope is better than no hope!

No doubt that Tampa didn't play their best. It's easy to make the argument that they've only come close to their best in game 2. If I'm the Bolts, I have two areas of concern. One, Stamkos. No shots last night. When he's not shooting, he's not overly effective. He's not doing a great job creating his own shots. It's one thing he misses without MSL - and maybe Drouin can be that guy; someone to create shots for him to take. Two, Bishop's catching glove. It's a weakness. Two goals in this series that he flat out flubbed. The second one, DD last night, he did track all the way in and he still flubbed it. The closer that glove gets to his ear, the worse he is. Gotta put more and more pucks there.

The closer that glove gets to his ear, the worse he is. Gotta put more and more pucks there. Marc Denis said the same thing before the series even began. I don't know if that's the official game plan, to go high on him, but it certainly seems like it would be a good one. I guess the theory is always "go low on a big goalie" because they cover so much room upstairs, and/or it's harder for them to move laterally. That may be true for Bishop as well, but it also seems like he has a tendency to lose focus on shots that hit him in the glove. Maybe he has a micro-fracture in his wrist?

That game was beautiful. Fully deserved win and the core of the team stepped up, finally. I'm still worried that we can become undisciplined at any moment, though... MT is gonna have to stay on them with constantly about that.
There's no room for error at this point. There isn't even any margin for bad luck. I'm not predicting a full comeback, but this team has tons of character and could definitely make things interesting.
Is it just me, or was Callahan's crosscheck to the Plekanec's face suspendable? I can't tell when I'm being an oversensitive homer.

Hard not to feel good about that game. Great effort, great execution. You can see how success breeds confidence and even the power play looked more relaxed.
We're in the same spot we were last year against the Rangers. Down 3-1 but with a home game to extend the series. I don't think it will be a 6-2 game but I fully expect the Habs to play well in Game 5, as they have for most of the series.
It will be a disappointment if we can't force a Game 6. Go Habs Go!

I can't tell when I'm being an oversensitive homer. Game 5 will be a very tough game but if they play the way they have been, then anything can happen ... I've also given up on any explanations coming out of the NHL ref dangerous plays, head shots, etc ... the differing standards in officiating between the regular season and the playoffs challenges the integrity of the league, itself ... what is normally suspendable in the regular season isn't necessarily suspendable in the post season and that seems perfectly fine with the powers that be ... I thought Karlsson's hit on Beaulieu was probably overlooked because no suspension was handed out to Subban for his hack ... Ottawa whined throughout the series and, in my opinion, they influenced the officiating by doing that ... some will argue that it's all part of the game ... well, we're doing fine without resorting to whining and Ottawa's season is over ... [/rant] Cheers.

Is it just me, or was Callahan's crosscheck to the Plekanec's face suspendable? I can't tell when I'm being an oversensitive homer. I had a "huh?" moment when I saw that hit and thought "head shot? suspension?" too. then I remembered that this is the NHL and no one knows how anything will be called game to game or period to period or even shift to shift -- and even within shifts! I didn't expect one so was not disappointed. besides, Pleks put himself in a vulnerable position when his face got in the way of the stick.

Maybe he has a micro-fracture in his wrist mind that, I think . . . not too confident to begin with. Hammond, part deux.

Such a huge character win by the boys! After losing 8 straight to the Bolts and on the heels of a heartbreaking last second loss in Game 3, the easy thing to do would've been to go through the motions and give the game to Tampa.
Instead, they came out guns blazing and never took their foot off the gas. The Tampa curse is finally broken! I'm feeling pretty good about them riding this momentum to a Game 5 victory, because I don't see them getting eliminated in front of the Bell Centre faithful.

Neither team lost 4 in a row this year, iirc. So, it will be really hard to accomplish. Do I think the game 4 win gives them confidence to have a good game Saturday night? Yes. We'll see if it translates into a W.

From all the post game interviews it really seems like the players think they are the better team. They think that they can win every night out vs Tampa and it's not just the usual cliche's.
I hope the crowd is the loudest of the year and we take it to the Lightning and Bishop right away.

Habs are definitely the better team. If you watched all 240 minutes of play without seeing the goals you'd think it was 3-1, or 4-0 Habs. Keep this up and Carey doesn't have a stinker and get to game 7 and see ya later Cooper and co.

We're now in the same position as are the Rangers…(down 1-3 going home)...but we're looking a little better going into it, as the Rangers are still having trouble scoring. Only 2 goals in their three losses.
We also share a heartbreaking loss via a goal in the final seconds.
Hopefully, we've broken through the Bishopsgate.
