With Emlin though you have to factor in the KHL element in the negociations... I think he easily gets the same kind of money playing in the KHL so that NTC might have a been a deal breaker. As well, I think we're a bit tough on the guy, he can be a second pair dmen on many NHL teams and provide plenty of physical play.

I think we head into training camp with the best top eight defenders that we have had in ages. Tinordi is in tough mainly because the top six is a better lineup than he has had to try and crack since he turned pro. Beaulieu has taken the next step, and Pateryn is on the cusp. Adding a guy like Petry helps take some pressure off Markov (if used properly!!!!), and also drops guys down the depth chart to a place much better for them. Emelin and Gilbert both had their ups and downs, but it is hard to argue with them as a great bottom pairing duo (albeit Emelin's contract is a bit rich for that role).
We are now at 21 pages of "advice". Did the Berg listen to any of it lol?

I think we need both, not one or the other. If I had my druthers, Pateryn and Gilbert would sit, and Tinordi and Emelin would play. This is what happens when GMs and coaches place WAY too much emphasis on righty-lefty and not enough on letting Carey see the puck.

Aside from the bad luck with Pacioretty, it is a good summer for Bergevin. My opinion of him is not changed. I see him being a smart, steady, and well connected in the league.
The issues I see going to autumn are not primarily attributable to poor managerial judgment.
