I picked Gallagher, but I think Jazzyjay has the right idea. Give it to Markov. Safe choice that nobody would really have a problem with. Then revisit it when he retires.

Petry said in his tele conference that the main reason he signed with the Habs was because at the end of the season Subban and Price came to him wishing him luck with his UFA this offseason. He was pretty impressed that they would do that!!
Is there really any doubt who the leaders of this team are?!!

They also lobbied with him to re-sign with the team. Other factors which appeared to play a role were that that Babcock left the Wings, making that destination less attractive and some cookies available at a shop in Montreal (from a Mrs Petry tweet). I vote the baker for captain.

I voted other for a simple reason, they have nobody at this point that is captain material, other than Carey who in my opinion should never be captain.
Gorges should have been captain but they decided he was overpaid. Gionta was a so-so captain, I want THE man to LEAD.
Max doesn't have a playoff intensity switch, NO to captain Subban has a massive ego, NO to him Gallagher is a rat/agitator, but is their best option in 2-3 years when he calms down that side, then it's a YES Plekanec plays like a little girl in the playoffs NO spells NO and he is not it, žádná Markov doesn't want to touch it with a pole that reaches Moscow, NYET Prust doesn't play enough and does too many stupid things, NO
Leave it alone, nobody is ready for that pressure. But if they must, in my opinion it's Max by a mile.

Agree with the sentiment of Patches getting the C, A's, going to PK and BG. This would mean Plekanec is moved. Can't take the A from him and expect him to be happy. Of course, according to another thread he's already been traded, so this discussion is moot. Edit: I went with PK. He's more outgoing and speaks his mind. Also, I really believe he's a Hab through and through. IMO he's the type of guy who does what's best for the team, not for himself, and that's the sign of a leader. Not dissing Patches, just think PK would be more of a leader with Patches playing a strong supporting role as an A. You can take an A from Plekanec, I don't think he has an ego and it wouldn't bother him at all. Having said that I'm betting Berg turns Pleky, Emelin/Gilbert and a prospect into a scoring forward by September.
