I liked Prust...was one of the few willing to drop the gloves for his team mates. Guess we'll be playing the gentleman way next year.

At his best, Kassian combines underrated skill with a physical presence, and he didn’t look out of place with Henrik and Daniel Sedin; but playing that style will test the back injury next fall. At his worst, Kassian makes poor puck decisions coming out of his zone or in neutral ice and plays too passively in the offensive zone.
my question remains: why?

Never sold on Prusty….mostly because he took more than his share of undisciplined penalties.
Good team man, though….no doubt about that.
Hopefully, Kassian stays healthy. 7 years younger….bigger, meaner.

Loved prust but he plays a hard game and he appeared to be slowing down as the season wow on. Heart and soul guy and the nuck fans will love him. I expected a d man to go to the nucks.

Prust is combative, kills penalties, has leadership skills and ability. Kassian has work to do, but his tsn interview he was honest in assessing his own game. He's motivated and wants to prove himself. Both players have a year left. Habs save 500k.
Habs getting the 5th rounder. My mistake.

Prust going the other way with a 5th. Really don't get this one. Prust is 31 & has a year left on the deal. I wonder if that incident with the ref had a anything to do with this? He's married to a Montrealer so I'm sure he will be PO'd.

Call up Connor crisp if we need some muscle I guess....I really loved Proust but I like Kassian more....plus we could afford to how a $2.5 cap hit on the fourth line

I like Prust but he's a 4th liner at $2.5 million, while Kassian is a 4th liner at $1.75 million and an RFA next year. All things being equal I'd keep Prust since he seems like a heart and soul guy and well-liked in the room, but I guess this is fine.

He was slowing down because he was the only one doing the dirty work. I guarantee you his teammates are going to miss him. Gally and Chucky probably thought of him as a big brother. I remember the CH series on Bell where Prust was showing them how to fight. Ah well. We still got my favourite with DD.

nucks fans aren't all that enthused. We get younger and bigger, but Kassian doesn't have a history of being hard to play against consistently enough. He admits he knows his faults and needs to be better. Prust was always overpaid, but some of that went to intangibles - which included leadership, pk, and grit. The Rangers missed him right away, but moved on. We'll have to as well.

First rounder who hasn't panned out. Yet. Maybe this is what he needs.
I'm grasping.

Who knows, I liked his interview today with tsn. he knows what he needs to do. That's half of it. If Therrien can do with him what he did with Weise ...

Horrible trade. Been watching Kassian night after night here in Vancouver. Takes most every night off. Takes lazy undisciplined penalties. Could only put up points playing with Sedins. All the upside in the world but LAZY. Another poorly conceived experiment in my opinion. Not expecting him to finish the year in Montreal. In return for a heart and soul player?

What is with MB and the stupid experiments? I'll put it this way: if were to valuate Prust prior to today, what would we put his value at? 3rd rounder at best? Berg gets a player with unrealized potential and a 5th round pick back, saves 750k, and gets the RFA in the deal. Kassian's warts aside, the return isn't horrible value. Berg is trading a 4th line middleweight who can kill penalties, but has shoulder problems and doesn't fight as much as he used to. Yeah, he's a leader. Only the room knows how much he kept guys accountable. Timmins' ability to find strong prospects in the 5th round, getting that pick instead of having to give one up is a bonus.

Van fans haven't liked Kassian from the beginning/didn't like the deal; he hasn't fit in and Benning and Desjardins are glad to see him go. experiment? sure. fresh start? sure. if it fails he's be gone at the deadline. that being said, I'd like to see a top-6 move and see some scoring, but as long as MT is coaching there's no use MB getting that.
