3-3. And the Oilers got away with holding galore on that shift. Unbelievable reffing. But we held the door open with a terrible second period. They had a few good shifts to try to make it 4-2. That's a brutal non-call.

No question....there was a hold earlier in that shift along the Oilers' end boards, too.
Not to mention the missed Pouliot high-stick on Subban.
But we took the foot off the gas in the middle frame....something we haven't really done so far this year...not with a 3-0 lead.
Really disappointed with Pleks and Max....they must've gotten their shots in the first period.

Why is our defense so bad.

Price with two great saves in the last few minutes to keep it at 3s.
Talbot hasn't been forced to make a great save for 40 minutes.

Why is our defense so bad. Been vulnerable ever since the Buffalo game. Panicky and out-of-position.

Why is our defense so bad. Been vulnerable ever since the Buffalo game. I've only watched the third, but Emelin hasn't looked good at all, and Markov's made some really bad decisions.

9 shots since the first period.
That's all you need to know.
You have a weak D and a shaky goalie on the ropes....and you stop going for it.
Shades of last year.

Quality NHL officiating not much in evidence tonight.
But Montreal has really played poor in period 2 and 3.

Brutal play by Desharnais, not willing to pay the price there.

Brutal play by Desharnais, not willing to pay the price there. Yep. He quit on that one big time.

We haven't been coming out of our own zone or into the opposition zone as well as we did early in the season. Not sure why, but this line-up is simply not that good. Maybe we played over our heads for the first 3 weeks?

Western road trip curse continues.
Calgary's playing like crap right now, too. Perhaps we'll cure their woes while we're at it.

The turnovers and defensive breakdowns were terrible.
But in general the neutral zone transitions were really poor and the Habs forwards established virtually no offensive zone possession, pressure and shots over 40 minutes.
Maybe the juggler will need juggle again.

Brutal play by Desharnais, not willing to pay the price there. Yep. He quit on that one big time. He blew the play on McCann's goal (the 3rd) in Vancouver as well. He probably should not start in the defensive zone at all if possible. If you watch him closely in the defensive zone, you notice just how much he hurts the team. His strength is offensive, but at what cost? There are more than a few guys who didn't show up tonight. Didn't notice Eller at all, Weise was bad, DD was bad, and so on. Flynn tries hard but has no chemistry with Chucky. It's like 3 different players up front, with no cohesion. Taking Semin out tonight blew up.

Semin, Fleischmann - bit players. I can accept losses where the effort is there but when thy just quit playing against a 3-7 team because they think they are too good for everybody that's unacceptable. Plus they blow a point in the final minute. 3 brutal games in succession.

According to our favourite Andrew Berkshire, Habs had great possession stats from games 2 to 6 and poor stats in the 5 games since. Those would be Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, Buffalo and St. Louis. Not sure about the last two but we have stunk against the first 3.

Not sure about the last two but we have stunk against the first 3. St. Louis has a lot of big forwards built for a very good possession game. Where the Habs countered that very effectively was in their hustle and ability to take possession away from St. Louis. That has been missing in the last four games....so has any cohesive defensive play in their own end. Slipping in some bad habits again. All coachable habits, mind you.
