Let's see how we do without our MVP.

Happened against EDM I assume? Didn't notice anything during the game.

I knew he looked off. I think it happened in Vancouver.

Price getting injured is always a bad thing, but Price getting some time off could be a good thing. I was kinda hoping MT was going to give Price fewer games this year anyway.
I find Price tends to peak a few weeks before the regular season ends. If a couple minor injuries during the course of the year gives him the rest needed to peak later in the season (ie, the playoffs), then this could be a blessing in disguise.
A nice little test for Condon too. Its his chance to answer to any doubts that people may have.

Revised the thread title in light of today's news.
John Lu tweeted this morning…
John Lu @johnlutsnmtl 13m13 minutes ago #Habs Price is out of town for medical evaluation of his LBI & will return to Montreal today. Results will be advised by Therrien tomorrow.
Let the speculation begin. Long-term? Surgery? Who knows?
Marinaro said a woman sent him a pic she took of herself with Price this morning at the airport. Must be a quick evaluation if he's going to be back today.
Guess we'll hear from Therrien in the next day or so….

That doesn't sound particularly good. Sounds like he's seeing a specialist of some sort.
I would hate for this to be one of those "should we shut him down and give him the surgery now, or can he tough it out until the off-season" kind of things.

Pat Hickey's Gazette web headline (no details yet) says Price has gone to the U.S. A specialist would indeed be the best guess….(not that there aren't any in Canada…) Fingers crossed. In the meantime, let's hope Condon can continue his inspired play. Condon 3rd Star of the WeekFilling in for injured starter Carey Price, Condon posted a 2-0-1 record with a 1.66 goals-against average and .934 save percentage to lead the Canadiens (13-2-1, 27 points) to their best 16-game start to a season in the franchise's 98-year NHL history.(Although, I think it's our 107th season…)

The club first issued a statement that he'd be out for a week, but I had concerns about that just as soon as he went on the IR only a few days later ...
Cheers.

I'm guessing that it's a groin or Hernia. Not enough pain to affect everyday life, but when it comes to playing.....a whole different story!!

Looks worse than it may have seemed at first. Or, in the least, he'll need some more recovery time. Or, perhaps since Condon's been strong in relief the team's taking more time to make sure Carey's 100% before returning.

Price has a history of trying to play through injuries. To me, it doesn't matter if it takes him another 2 weeks rest... as long as he heals fully.
Plus, Condon might still developing here. I don't mind letting him grow as much as possible.

We should be okay for the next little while. There are enough days in between games and we are staying within a less than 1 hour flying distance). Our following games look like:
Wed @ Pitts Sat v Col Mon v Van Thur v Ariz Fri @ NYI (2nd in 2 nights, and would of been better in Montreal since the next 3 could of been within 10 miles of each other) Sun v NYI Wed @ NYR Fri @ NJ Sat v NJ (2nd in a back to back)

This is terrible news. It means he has not improved, or only slightly since the first diagnosis. Sending him off to a specialist in another town suggests it is not a common everyday injury and the team is worried. Don't like this one bit.
Good news is we only really have to play a little over .500 the rest of the way to make the playoffs. Carey will hopefully be good by then. And who knows maybe Condon is the real deal but I can't help thinking of Lalime and that goalie who played formPhilly a few years back. Impressive starts but not impressive careers.

Michael Leighton….who shut us out 3 times in Round 3 in 2010…..after Halak's tremendous run in beating the Caps then the Pens. I think it was less Leighton than it was Pronger et al on D….but I have a feeling Waite is working wonders with Condon…. I'd like to hear what he has to say about his goalie coach. One of Berg's BEST moves, no question…. And…I think picking up Craig Ramsay has already paid dividends, too. He's one smart hockey guy. Isn't he working on our PP, which now sits 3rd overall at 27.3%?

I've always had the view that a good team can win a lot of games over the course of a season with league-average goaltending. Particularly a team that can score goals, like we are this year. In the past, we needed Carey Price to cover up for the fact that we couldn't score and were routinely outshot.
But not anymore! Price led the league last year in save percentage at 0.933. The median for the league was around 0.918/0.920. So far Condon is playing at a 0.940 clip, which isn't sustainable, but if he can play at close to 0.920 AND we can score somewhere around 3 goals per game.... honestly, we won't miss Price nearly as much as would have in years when we relied on him more heavily.
That's the good news. The bad news is that come playoff time you need a guy who can carry a team and inspire confidence. Price is that guy, he's just so calm and relaxed and it rubs off on the whole team. I'm not sure we can win a Cup with Mike Condon between the pipes.
But in the short run I think we'll be fine as long as we can keep scoring. Fingers crossed on Carey.

Hey BH….I've meant to ask before….is your avatar a scanned pic of one of your cards that Lambert signed for you? I ask because his goal was the stake through Cherry's coaching heart! Worth another look! Love the coolness of Savard on Middleton (who always scared the crap out of me)….to Houle…nice touch pass to Tremblay…..the Habs' transition was second-to-none in that era! AND…it was Brad Park who failed to cover #11! One of Gallivan's greatest crescendo calls!

This is a huge opportunity for the team to show the rest of the league that they are not Carey Price-dependent ... last year is a different story and anti-Habists love talking about that ... what they don't want to hear is that the Habs lead the league this year in GF ... the Habs are at 159 goals and only Dallas is close to them ... this could be a defining moment in the development of the team ... yup ... Cheers.

I wish, CH. Although I did get his autograph at Moe's Diner once....for non-Montrealers, Moe's was at the corner of de Maisonneuve and Lambert-Closse right next to the old Forum. Before or after practice, after a game, late at night after partying... they all hung out there, even ex-players. Greasy burgers and fries.
Love everything about that clip..... the "home whites", the original black Tuuk blades, the suits and ties in the crowd, great play by Savard to break up the rush by Middleton and the rapid fire transition.

Watching it in today's era one would think that both lines would have changed after the whistle. Always good to see Middlebury beat like a rented mule by Mario!

Always good to see Middlebury beat like a rented mule by Mario! Lemaire corn-hole! Hilarious! That wasn't Milbury, though….it was #29 Al Sims….the same guy who kicked the puck to Lafleur who then set up Lemaire for the Cup winner, Game 4 OT, 1977. If you want to see rented mule "Middlebury"….this one comes to mind…1978 Finals. The Bruins figured prominently in the last 3 of the 4-Cup run.

I was watching it in my parent's basement because I didn't want anyone around me if they lost ... Cherry used to say often that the goal Lafleur scored that sent the game into OT was the goal that cost him his job ... I remember reading that he was let go for something else ... there was a bit of a power struggle there, IIRC ... Cheers.

Was Dougie injured?

I'm on the doomsday team with Habsorbed. He would have the best care already in MTL along with MRIs etc. They must know what's wrong.
Is the 2nd opinion about treatment - ie: surgery or rest?
