Amazing stuff again Dis! Those were two impressive teams. And the Flower is looking magnificent with that flow.
Still struggling with the headline on the Hockey Illustrated cover indicating complete coverage of "all 17 NHL teams". What's that about?
I'm assuming Toker will get the start. Let's hope he brings something. Can't believe his first period can be any worse than Condon's this last stretch. But not very confident with the outcome. NYI is a good team and we got too many players not playing sharp. Carey could hide those blemishes. And people wonder why despite our record over the last few years MT is not involved with any team and the 2016 Tourny.

Reports now saying Carey will get the start. Hope they're not rushing him. We should not be panicking yet as we've got a good cushion.

Mitchell did not make the trip and is being evaluated in Montreal, per Stubbs.
Guess Semin gets a mulligan and gets back in tonight.

The website I use for starting goaltenders isn't giving me an image I can use ... I suspect they'll change it later today and when I see it I'll add it in ... I think we might see an all-out effort from les boys tonight if only to give Carey Price a successful return to the net ... also, interesting tid bit I heard on TSN690 this morning ... Max Pacioretty was actually limping into the Bell Centre last night before the game ... I guess he hasn't completely healed from that broken leg he suffered in the summer ... that would explain quite a bit ... CHeers.

Tokarski has been officially assigned to the IceCaps, so it will be Carey and Condon, with the latter getting a much-needed rest.

This is an interesting run of games. The Habs put themselves in good position with very good play in net, great special teams, and hard work with role players succeeding in the system. And now there is turbulence. Condon stumbled in the last 4 games, slow starts and bad turnovers are haunting the team, the power play is cooling. What is to make of it all? I remain positive, the glass half full. Montreal survived without Price.

Some of the possession stats have turned, however. Which may or may not concern anyone. What was happening earlier was that the Habs were still using the Chip it Out and Chase it down strategy, and they were actually chasing it down, thereby scoring a fair bit and putting a lot of pressure on opposing teams. The downside of that strategy is that it is an exhausting one. That kinda makes sense. More recently, we have still been playing the Chip and Chase style, but not retrieving pucks and the other team has been coming back at us with speed, something reminiscent of much of last year. And we haven't been scoring as well, right?
It certainly doesn't help when your goalie lets in a bad goal or two or three as that's the best way to deflate a team. Carey's back, so hopefully he is fully healed and bad goals won't be a problem. I'm not sure he's fully healed, though and I'd think it quite likely he's been brought back sooner simply because of Condon's recent play. Earlier, his return date was very vague and there is still no hard info on what was wrong. There was no need to rush Carey. Condon was doing an admirable job. He's probably not ready to play this many games without a rest, in the NHL. The team starts losing and voila', Carey is healed. Colour me skeptical.
Anyway, on a different note I still haven't seen anything to make me feel good about our zone exits, which drive offense. Nothing consistent anyway. I still feel we have to get that part of the game down pat before we're taken as seriously as we should be. I don't have confidence in a chip and chase style. You do that against a team with good mobile defenders (pretty well all the Stanley Cup contenders) and all you're doing is giving up the puck.

My gut tells me they win....hope I'm right.
On an aside a reporter on 690 with Melnick said the move for the Isles to Brooklyn has been a disaster, the ice is horrible especially in one end apparently the sight lines are horrendous for hockey and that the actual seating for hockey is somewhere in the 9000 range as the can not sell a good portion of seats. Add to that getting to the rink is a nightmare for the players taking hours getting in and out.....curious how this will play out for a pretty young and up coming team with one player already asking to get out albeit apparently for personnel reasons.
Counting on the boys coming out and making up for that dog game especially in the first.

I have to admit. Not many guys can make the play that Semin did right there. That backhand pass to fool his check and Flynn's was sweet. Semin should get an assist on Petry's goal. Flynn should have scored, seeing how much net he had, but it found its way in, so that's good.

Two shifts for DD's line, two hems in our end. I hate that zone clearing system. Oh yeah, we don't have one.

Eller is a Mack Senate movie all on his own. Chucky makes a great play to set him up right in the slot, Eller makes a great play to hold the puck past the sliding Islander and then he fans on the shot. Sigh.

Anyone else notice Pacioretty after he missed that shot ... he looked like he was favouring his leg ... kind of laboured back to the bench ...
Cheers.

Much better shift by DD's line that time. Flash was set up very nicely and Halak stopped him. The defense are making some really good passes tonight. PK, Petry, and Beaulieu have made some skilled plays.

Therrien contesting the goal--thinks Price lost the puck because he was pushed. Not sure he'll win this challenge.

Should be overturned. Price couldn't hold onto the puck because Brock Nelson pushed him with his right hand and dislodged the puck. Fairly clear. Habs are challenging.

DD line comes right back, DD and Flash get the Islanders chasing and Flash blasts one from the right faceoff circle.
