2 more points in the bank!
Missed the second period....
Nice to see one of Chucky's lasers go in. Only his third of the year....and first at home.
Flash with another solid game.
Gallagher might be gone for bit...in the GDT, I read that he took a Boynton shot on the hand.

There's a pic on twitter. Ring finger on left hand is definitely broken. Looked like it might need surgery.

Just heard....two fractured fingers....surgery tomorrow. Out indefinitely.
That's a significant source of energy we'll have to replace for a bit.....
Be interesting to see what MB does....

Pacioretty angry with himself for the 2-2 Isles goal. Took full blame for it.
Honest player.
With DSP and BGal on the shelf....do we fill the RW voids internally....or does MB pull the string on something?
=========================
Islanders accusing Price of embellishing on the GI call that led to the game winner.
They also thought the Beaulieu hook should've been a penalty shot.

(I only saw an overhead angle and that didn't capture everything) Not sure why it would have been a penalty shot because I understand it has to be a clear break to the net. It didn't look that way to me.

Good win. One thing that's cganged a bit from earlier this year, I don't get the ferling that it's a matter of time before we win. This game was closer then it should be.
LGal loss is bigger then two fingers.
On two occasions, Sven was just pushed away. He may have speed but he doesn't have the stregnth of players like DD and ummmmm....Mighty Mouse.

The Isles can complain all they want. They had 3 third-period PPs....and managed only 4 shots in the full 20:00.
Credit the Habs' PK....and defensive coverage.....

Not to mention the Islanders were pretty much all over Price in the game on Friday. Yup! Live by the sword, die by the sword. They like to go to the net. Got away with it last game, even got a goal after interfering with Carey. Perhaps the ref felt the puck was there in front of Carey and Neilson could go for it. But that wasn't in play tonight. Here's a hint for the Isles: don't go into the blue paint and touch Carey when the puck is no where near the net. That's a penalty in any league whether goalie embellished or not. It was dumb play and definitely a penalty.

I thought were the better team. But it was our lesser players who played well: DD, Weise, Flash, Pats. The Isles are all Tavares. After that they are pretty thin. It bothered me that we were often stupid with the puck when Tavares was out there.
Max was awful but still adds a goal to his stats. Pleks was also weak. PK and Markov are both struggling but Markov in particular, at both ends. If you took an educated hockey fan who never watches the NHL (some guy form eastern Europe), had him watch the game and told him that one guy is a veteran dman who has been one of his team's best players for years and the other is a rookie dman trying to get a place in the line up and asked him who is who, #79 or #6, 99% would say #6 is the vet.

Almost forgot; that was one heck of a goal by Flash. Interesting that if Semin was having the season that Flash is we would all be over the moon with Semin. So good on Flash. He's playing great and assisting DD and Weisser. That line is fun to watch. Great hustle, speed and, surprisingly, goal touch.

Tavares is hard to check because....he's John Tavares. He's no schmuck. His puck control is amazing. He makes his two wingers, for sure. If we had Tavares, we'd be odds on favourites to win the Cup.

The ring finger is definitly a displaced fracture. It's all kinds of mangled. There shouldn't be a rush to address the Gallagher loss. Internally, Weise can do some of what Gallagher does, and I might move him up. Then put 'ghetto or Holloway in Weise's spot. We've the luxury of time and a great record.

Gallagher is a top 6 forward and a heart and soul guy, so this is a loss that will be felt. Realistically I think we are looking at the end of January at the earliest before he gets back.

Those are big little skates to fill, in so many ways. Hard to imagine what this guy plays through game in and game out, because he thrives in the dirty parts of the ice.
First Carey's injury, and now Emelin, DSP and Gally will test the team's depth.
Holloway will be pumped to make his NHL debut...finally. Ghetto looked his predictable fast (he does have good wheels), but he tends to disappear for stretches and is really hard on himself when he is not producing. Still not sure if he will be a full time NHLer. His speed was effective on Chucky's line though and he has a good offensive instinct, which does separate him from the Byron's and Flynn's of the team.
Weirdly, Semin looked better on the fourth line last night than his last number of games on the third line (Chucky's line). Go figure.
Season sweep of the Isles, and it is only the quarter pole mark. Also weird.

The comments on TSN.ca are hilarious. Apparently the refs gift us powerplays late in the 3rd period.

The comments on TSN.ca are hilarious. Apparently the refs gift us powerplays late in the 3rd period. Oh well ... according to the box score each team had five PPs in the game ... Montreal went 3/5 while the Islanders failed to score with the man advantage ... it's all about perceptions ... I mean, Brendan Gallagher gets pushed slightly into the goaltender and a Montreal goal is waived off (Boston) ... however, an identical play happened in another game and the goal was allowed ... the announcers couldn't even figure it out ... Cheers.

Cheers. I know it's generally a cardinal sin to read the comments section, but this "trend" started with the Kreijci penalty weeks ago. Now apparently every win is credited to a late powerplay that we get. Since goaltender interference and having six skaters with the goalie still in the net should be permitted plays apparently.

No comment on the penalties themselves, just that they were called.

Being reported by club that Brendan's recovery is a minimum of 6 weeks.

Food for thought!
I believe that shot blocking at times is a bad strategy, when you have a goalie like Carey Price. A good percentage of blocked shots can bee handled by the goalie himself. Price would have done as good a job as Gallagher on that shot from the blue line without incurring any injury.

I saw a tweet that showed that Gallagher has only missed 2 games since Feb 21, 2013 and only 6 in his NHL career. One aspect of Gallagher's game that we don't talk about much is that because he's such a gamer and so persistent, he can help turn games around by working so hard on a shift that it embarrasses his teammates and forces them to work harder. We're going to miss that. Is there anyone else on the team that generates that kind of reaction?
